데 쿠닝 그림의 추상성과 구상성 공존에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 윌렘ㆍ데ㆍ쿠닝의 추상성과 구상성 공존에 관한 연구이다. 본 논문의 목적은 추상성과 구상성의 공존이란 특성을 만드는 데ㆍ쿠닝의 회화적 아이디어와 조형상의 해결책을 밝히고, 그의 미술사적 의의를 고찰하려는 데 있다. 본 연구의 제Ⅱ장에서는 데ㆍ쿠닝의 구상성과 추상성 공존의 특성을 다루고 있다. A절에서는 데ㆍ쿠닝이 지녔던 전통적인 형상성에 관한 관심과 그의 새로운 발명인 제스춰 페인팅의 특성을 연구하여, 전통적 가치에 근거한 그의 새로운 시도가 추상성과 구상성 공존의 한 원인임을 살펴보았다. B절에서는 A절의 결과로써 데ㆍ쿠닝 그림에 생겨난 두개의 주제, 즉 <여인>이나 <풍경>같은 자연에 근거한 주제와 자연과 무관한 창조과정의 기록이란 또 다른 주제가 대등하게 표현되고 있음으로써, 형식면에서 뿐아니라 내용면에서도 그의 구상성과 추상성의 공존이 이뤄지고 있음을 연구하였다. C절에서는 그의 추상성과 구상성 공존이란 특징이 2차원과 3차원을 동시에 표현하는 '조형적 깊이'와 우연적인 회화요소를 재구성하여 구상적 이미지로 전환하게 하는 그의 회화적 방법에서 유래함을 살피고, 그 전환과정에 개입되는 행태심리학과의 관계도 연구하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 추상성과 구상성을 공존시키기 위한 그의 회화적 해결책이 발전하는 과정을 A절에서는 구상화를 중심으로, B절에서는 추상화를 중심으로 연구하여, C절에서는 앞선 연구의 결과가 집대성되는 <여인Ⅰ>의 제작과정과 특성을 밝혔다. Ⅳ장에서는 데ㆍ쿠닝의 미술사적 위치와 영향을 살폈다. A절에서는 데ㆍ쿠닝이 미국 추상표현주의 이후의 작가에게 미친 영향을 살펴보고, B절에서는 그와 공통점을 내보이고 있는 동 시대 유럽 작가와의 연관성을 연구하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 데ㆍ쿠닝의 추상성과 구상성 공존의 특징은 형식적인 면에서뿐 아니라 내용적인 면에서 유래하고 있으며 이를 위한 회화적 해결책은 평면적인 제스트랄 브러쉬에 부피의 형태감을 부여하여, 상과 배경의 경계를 파괴함으로써 상과 배경의 균등함을 이루는 과정으로 나타나고 있음을 알았다.;This study is a research of reconciliation of figurative imagery and abstract pictorial element in Willem de Kooning's works from 1927 to 1952. The object of this study is showing his pictorial idea and plastic solution in making a quality which is a reconciliation of figurative imagery and abstract pictorial element as well as considering his art historical importance. The second chapter of this study considers a quality which is a reconciliation of figurative imagery and abstract pictorial element showed in Willem de Kooning's. A phrase considers to analyze his concern about traditional. Figure which Willem de Kooning had and a property of gestural painting newly originated by him and that his new approach based on traditional value is one cause of reconciliation of figurative imagery and abstract pictorial element. B phrase considers that reconciliation of his figurative imagery and abstract pictorial element is realized in form as well as substance by equally expressing two subjects showed in Willem de Kooning's works; the is, one subject based on nature such as a woman or landscape and the other subject which is a record of artist's creative process respective of a nature as a result of A phrase. C phrase considers that a property of reconciliation of his figurative imagery and abstract pictorial element is originated from his pictorial devices translating into figurative image by reconstructing spontaneity of pictorial elements and plastic depth expressing second dimension and third dimension simultaneously and a relation to gestalt involved in the translation process, also. Chapter three examines a process of his pictorial soluton growing to reconciliate his figurative imagery and abstract pictorial element, that is to say, from analyzing figure painting in A phrase, abstract painting in B phrase and manufacture process of woman I, integrated by a result of previous phrases. Chapter four examines Willem de Kooning's art historical importance and influence. A phrase considers an influences that Willem de Kooning made on American post-abstract expressionism artists. B phrase considers a relationship to European contemporary artists showing a common feature with him. The conclusion of this study is that a property of reconciliation of Willem de Kooning's figurative imagery and abstract pictorial element originated from not only form but also substance and solving method forth at is showed by a process that Willem de Kooning supplied flat gestural brush with bulk and shape and so, made figure-ground equality by destructing a border of figure and ground.
