M. Ravel의 L'Enfant et les Sortileges에 관한 소고

Abstract

라벨(Maurice Joseph Ravel[1875∼1937])은 현대음악 발전사에 있어서 중요한 작곡가중의 한 사람이다. 그는 인상주의에서 출발하였으나 후기에는 새로운 고전주의를 기조로 해서 자신만의 독자적인 세계를 만들었다. 본 논문에서는 라벨의 음악어법을 알아보기 위해 그의 후기 작품의 하나인 오페라 '어린이와 마술'(L' Enfant et les Sortile｀ges[1925])을 분석했다. 이 작품은 심리적인 관점에서 라벨의 신비성을 찾으려 한다면 분석, 검토해야하는 작품으로 라벨다운 요소로 구성되어 있다. 즉, 고전적 개념을 바탕으로 새로운 작곡재료 등을 추구했고 그의 어린이와 동물세계, 마술세계에 대한 관심이 이 작품 속에 나타나있다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 라벨의 특성을 알아보고 곡 분석에 앞서 이 작품의 작곡배경, 줄거리, 등장인물을 포함하는 작품개요를 알아본다. 곡 분석은 화성, 선율, 리듬, 관현악의 기교, 기타의 5가지 면으로 나누어 고찰하고 분석을 통해 라벨의 다양한 작곡기법과 음악적 재료를 알아본다. 분석의 결과 화성은 3화음, 7화음, 9화음, 11화음, 부가화음, 복조성(bitonality)이 쓰였고 선율적으로는 다양성을 보이고 있다. 리듬은 무곡리듬(dance rhythm)과 재즈리듬의 사용이 특징적이며 당김음(syncopation)의 사용으로 인한 리듬의 변화가 보이고 관현악의 기교는 효과적으로 표현되었다. 전제적으로 이 곡에서는 서정성, 소박함, 기지, 유머가 넘치고 있으며 이것은 줄거리에 따라 화려하게 바뀐다. 여기서 꿈과 현실의 세계 속에 있는 인간의 모습을 상징적으로 표현하고 있음을 엿볼 수 있다.;Maurie Joseph Ravel (1875-1937) is one of the important composers in the development of contemporary music history. He started in Impressionism but in the late period, he created the unique world of his own on the basis of Neo-classicism. In order to review Ravel's musical languages, this study is intended to analyze L'Enfant et les Sortile｀ges (1925), which is one of his late works. This work is composed of Ravel-like elements and is estimated that to find his mystery, it must be analyzed and examined in the psychological view point. In other words, on the basis of classical concept did he persuit new material of composition, and this work includes his concern about the world of children, animals, and magic. Before the analysis of L'Enfant et les Sortile｀ges this treatise is intended first to review the characteristic of Ravel and the synopsis of the work including the background of composition, plot, and characters. The analysis of the work is catalogued into 5 stages of harmony, melody, rhythm, orchestral virtuosity, and the others, and reveals the various methods of composition and the musical materials of Ravel. As the result of analysis, in harmony, the triad, the seventh chord, the ninth chord, the eleventh chord, the added-note chord, and bitonality are used; in melody, it shows diversity. The rhythm is characterized by the use of dance rhythm and jazz rhythm, and the changes of rhythm are made by the use of syncopation; the technique of orchestration is expressed skillful. On the whole, this work is full of lyricism, simplicity, wit, and humor, and changes brilliantly from plot to the plot. Thus, it can be perceived that human nature in the world of dream and reality is symbolically described.
