Abstract

러시아 국민주의 작곡가인 Mily Alexeyevich Balakirev(1837∼1910)는 러시아 민요에 관심을 갖고 민요를 채집, 출판하였다. 그러므로 많은 그의 작품들 속에선 민요적인 요소가 보여진다. 그 예로 피아노곡 <Islamey>를 들 수 있다. <Islamey>는 "Oriental fantasy "라는 부제를 갖는 곡으로 Caucasus지방의 민속적 요소인 동양적인 선율과 리듬을 발전시킨 피아노 작품이다. 민요적 요소인 다성음악적 처리, 리듬을 따르기 위한 박자의 변화, 불규칙한 액센트, 장조와 단조의 변화, 중세의 교회선법의 요소를 이용한 악절과 화음, 5음 음계의 사용, 러시아 제식음계의 사용, 강약의 대조, glissando의 사용, 7도, 9도, 11도화음, 2옥타브 이상의 도약, 넓은 음폭, 복잡한 장식음 등의 고도의 기교를 요하는 후기 낭만시대의 특징적인 요소가 뚜렷하게 나타난다. 결과적으로 <Islamey>는 크게 A B A´와 A와 B의 요소가 확대된 Coda를 갖는 음악적 구조를 보인다. 2개의 주제는 자주 변주기법에 의해 변형, 반복, 확대되고 있으며, 주제 선율은 2도, 3도의 좁은 음정관계로 이루어진다. 또한 고도의 기교를 요하여 3옥타브 이상의 음폭, 화음의 연속, 빠른 반음계적 음계, 악절, 반복되는 리듬과 강약의 대조, 교차리듬과 캐논 기법의 사용 등의 전곡을 통하여 잘 나타나는 19세기 후반기의 대표적인 피아노 곡중의 하나라고 할 수 있다.;One of the Russian Nationalistic composers, mily Alexeyevich-Balakirev(1837-1910), who was interested in Russian Folk music, collected and published many Russian Folk musics. Therefore, the characteristics of folk music can be found in most of his works. We can take a piano piece, Islamey, for an example. Islamey, whose sub-title is "Oriental Fantasy" is a piano piece, developped with the oriental melody and rhythm that were the folk characteristics of Caucasus area. The Polyphonic treatment, the change of the tempo to the rhythms, the irregular accents, the change af major & minor keys, Medieval church mode-used-passage & harmony, the use of pentatonic scale, the use of Russian religious musical scale, the use of drone bass to make the most of the traits of Russian folk musical instruments and the use of pedal point-all these can be found through out the piece. Also it shows the characteristics of the late Romanticism which requires the high techniques, such as, the chromatic-passages, the contrast of dynamics, the use of glissando, the harmony of 7th, 9th & 11th chords, the jump of over 2-octaves, the wide range sound and the complicated ornamental sounds. Consequently Islamey shows a musical structure which has ABA' and a long coda expanded with A & B. Two subjects of Islamey are often changed, repeated and expanded by Variation Technique and the main melody consists of narrow intervals of 2nd and 3rd. Also it is one of the representative piano pieces of the ]ate 19th century which has the following characteristics-over 3-octave sound width which requires a high technique, the repetition of harmony, the rapid chromatic passages, the repetitive rhythms and the contrast of dynamics, the intersecting rhythms and the use of canon technique.
