Henry Purcell의 건반악기 조곡에 관한 연구

Abstract

17세기 후반은 영국에 이태리음악과 불란서음악이 전래되어 영국의 음악계에 새로운 변화가 일어난 시기이다. Henry Purcell (1659∼1695)은 이 시기에 활약한 영국의 대표적인 음악가로서, 당시 대륙에서 발달하고 있던 이태리음악과 불란서음악양식을 영국에 받아들여 영국 고유의 다성음악양식과 잘 융합시켜 영국 음악에 새로운 양식을 형성하였다. 그는 불란서음악으로 부터 조곡형식을, 이태리음악으로 부터 선율적 재능을 빌어와 모두 11개의 조곡을 작곡하였는데, 본 논문에서는 그 중 「A Choice Collection of Lessens for the Harpsichord or Spinet」에 실린 「8개의 조곡」- G장조, g단조, G장조, a단조, C장조, D장조, d단조, F장조를 중점적으로 다루고 있다. Purcell의 「8개의 조곡」은 각각 Prelude - Almand - Courante - Saraband를 기본악장으로 하고 때때로 Minuet, Chacone Siciliano, Cebel1, Riggadoon, Intrada, March, Hornpipe와 같은 춤곡이 더해져 있으며 이들은 대부분 2부분형식으로 이루어져 있다. 2성부 혹은 3성부로 이루어진 이 조곡들은 다성음악같은 (Pseudo - Polyphony) 구성으로 이루어져 있으며 영국 민요적인 선율을 바탕으로 이태리나 불란서의 기악양식을 응용하여 선율선이 효과적으로 전개되어 나가고 있다. 리듬에 있어서는 붓점리듬, 당김음, Siciliano리듬, Scotch snap등 다양한 리듬이 사용되고 있으며, 화성은 매우 대담하여 감7화음을 많이 사용하였으며 전타음, 계류음과 같은 여러 비화성음이 많이 사용되고 있다. 모두 정격종지로 끝나는 이 조곡들은 종지에 있어 분산화음, 확대종지등이 사용되기도 한다. 이와같이 Purcell의 특징적인 음악어법으로 작곡된 「8개의 조곡」은 조곡형식이 영국에 들어와 발달하는데 중요한 역할을 한 작품이다.;In the late 17th century, Italian and French music was introduced in England and the musical world of England was newly changed. Henry Furcell (1659-1695) was an English representative musician at that time. He introduced in England the Italian and French music which were advanced in Europe. He built up new form in English music with a good blending of Italian and French music and English polyphonic music of his om. Purcell composed eleven suites in all, developing suite from French music and melodic technique from Italian music. This study includes Purcell's 「~suites」 - G major, g minor, G major, a minor, c major D major, d minor,, F major - printed in hisr「A Choice Collection of Lessons for the Harpsichord or Spinet」. Each suite of Purcell's 「8 suites」 has Prelude - Almand - Courante - Saraband as preliminary movements. Other dances like Minuet, 'Chacone, Siciliano, Cebell, Riggadoon, Intrada, March, Hornpipe are occasionally added in each suite. Various musical characteristics are found in Purcell's suites. Purcell's suites are constructed mostly in binary form and are composed in pseudo-polyphonic texture in two or three parts, Using English folk melodies, in these suites, Purcell developed the melodic line by adopting the technique of instrumental music of Italy and France. He used various rhythms such as dotted rhythms, syncopation, siciliano rhythm, scotch snap. In harmony, he used bold harmonies, diminished 7th chords, and various non-harmonic tones such as appoggiatura ~ suspension. Authentic cadences appear at the end of all suites and cadencial extensions are occasionally found in some suites. Purcell's 「8 suites」composed of his characteristic musical technique as shown, played an important role in the development of English sutie form.
