Johann Jacob Froberger의 harpsichord 조곡에 관한 연구

Abstract

Johann Jacob Froberger (1616-1667) was the pre-eminent German composer of keyboard music in the mid-17th century. Acquiring a cosmopolitan and sophisticated knowledge of musical styles during his travel throughout Europe, Froberger composed the music having great variety. He composed toccatas, ricer- cares, canzonas, fantasias, capriccios for organ and 30 suites for harpsichord, and especially he contributed to the development of the classical suite by composing harpsichord suites. In this thesis, historical significance and characteristics of Froberger's suite are studied in the view of history of the classical suite. Froberger established the arrangement of dance movements. He began with the three-movement form of allemande-courante-sarabande, which he later enlarged to allemande-gigue-courante- sarabande, and he played an important role in establishing the framework of the suite by treating allemande, courante, sarabande, gigue as a musical unit. Dance movements of Froberger's suites reflect the various musical styles of France and other countries. Texture of movements was affected by the style brise´ of French lute music. The influence of Frescobaldi and early English virginal school is to be seen in (auf die Mayerin), and that of German variation suite in thematic relationship between allemande and courante. Thus, Froberger forged a distinctive personal idiom out of stylistic features of French, Italian and German keyboard music and made a contribution to development of the classical suite by establishing the framework of keyboard suite. Froberger was a pioneer in the development of early German keyboard music;Johann Jacob Froberger (1616-1667)는 17세기 중반에 활약한 남부 독일의 대표적 건반 음악 작곡가이다. 그는 유럽을 널리 여행하여 그 결과로 많은 다양성을 지닌 음악을 작곡하였다. organ곡으로 toccata, ricercare, canzona, fantasia, capriccio 들을 썼고 harpsichord를 위한 곡으로 30개의 조곡을 썼는데, 그의 조곡은 정통적 조곡 발전에 중요한 역할을 하였다. 본 논문에서는 조곡의 발전사에서 본 Froberger 조곡의 역사적 의의와 그의 조곡의 특징에 관하여 고찰하였다. Froberger는 이전에는 정립되어 있지 않던 조곡의 악장 배열을 allemande-courante-sarabande 3악장에서 allemande-gigue-courante-sarabande로 발전시켰으며 allemande, courante, sarabande, gigue를 하나의 음악 단위(musical unit)로 취급하여 건반 조곡의 기본 배열 확립에 공헌하였다. Froberger 조곡 속에 포함된 무곡들은 프랑스를 비롯한 유럽 여러 나라의 음악 양식을 반영한다. 무곡의 구성은 프랑스 lute 음악의 분산 양식(style brise´)을 받아들였고 <auf die Mayerin>에서는 이탈리아 Frescobaldi와 초기 영국 virginal 악파의 영향을 볼 수 있다. allemande와 courante 사이의 주제적 관련에서는 독일 변주 조곡의 영향도 볼 수 있다. 이와같이 Froberger는 프랑스, 이탈리아, 독일의 음악 양식을 잘 융합하여 자신의 뛰어난 독창성으로 harpsichord 조곡을 작곡하였으며, 건반 조곡의 악장 배열을 정립하여 정통적 조곡 확립에 공헌한 독일 건반 음악 발전의 선구자이다.
