체벌행동과 애착안정성 및 아동 부적응과의 관계

Abstract

본 연구는 어머니의 체벌 행동이 아동의 부적응에 영향을 미치는데 있어, 아동 변인인 애착안정성을 고려한 모형을 제시하여, 체벌 행동이 공격성, 비행, 위축, 우울/불안의 아동의 부적응과 애착안정성에 어떻게 영향을 주는지 밝히고, 이러한 과정에서 애착안정성에 따라 체벌행동이 아동의 부적응에 미치는 영향이 어떻게 달라질 수 있는지 살펴보았다. 연구대상은 서울, 대전 및 경기 지역에 거주하는 초등학교 1학년 아동 231 명(남아 121명, 여아 110명)과 어머니였으며, 체벌행동 척도, 애착안정성 척도, 아동․청소년 행동 평가 척도를 이용하여 질문지를 구성하였다. 연구 방법은 각 변인간의 상관관계를 분석하였고, 구조 방정식을 이용하여 모형을 설정하고, 확인적 요인분석과 경로분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 체벌행동, 애착안정성, 아동 부적응의 각 변인들 간의 상관관계를 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 체벌행동은 아동 부적응의 하위 요인들인 공격성, 비행, 우울/불안, 위축과 모두 유의미한 상관이 있었다. 또한 체벌행동은 애착안정성의 하위 요인 중에서 소외감을 제외한 의사소통과 신뢰감에 유의미한 상관을 보였다. 애착안정성과 아동 부적응과의 상관을 살펴보면, 의사소통은 위축과 우울/불안의 내재화 문제와 유의미한 상관이 있으며, 신뢰감은 비행을 제외한 모든 부적응과 상관을 갖으며, 소외감은 아동 부적응의 외현화 문제와 내면화 문제 모두와 유의미한 상관을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 어머니의 체벌 행동, 부모와의 애착안정성, 아동 부적응 사이의 구조적 관계를 살펴본 결과, 체벌행동이 애착안정성과 아동 부적응에 영향을 미치며, 애착안정성이 다시 아동의 부적응에 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었다. 즉 체벌행동은 애착안정성과 아동 부적응 모두에 직접적으로 영향력을 갖으며, 체벌행동이 애착안정성의 중재효과를 통하여 아동 부적응에 영향을 미치는 경로 역시 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 각 변수들 간의 직․간접효과를 보면, 체벌행동은 애착안정성에 대한 직접효과가 유의미 하였으며, 아동 부적응에 대해서도 유의미한 직접효과를 나타내고 있다. 또한 이전 연구들에서 지지되었던 결과들과 마찬가지로 애착안정성은 아동 부적응에 대해 부적인 직접효과를 보여주고 있다. 체벌행동이 아동 부적응에 미치는 간접효과 역시 유의미하였다. 본 연구는 어머니의 체벌 행동이 애착안정성을 매개로 아동 부적응에 영향을 미치는 과정을 살펴보았다. 기존 연구들이 체벌 행동과 아동의 부적응 혹은 체벌 태도와 체벌 행동의 단편적인 연구에 그치거나 부모의 인지적인 변인이 체벌 행동을 매개로 아동의 부적응에 미치는 과정을 살펴본 것에서 나아가 아동 변인인 애착안정성과의 관계를 맥락적으로 살펴보았다는데 연구의 의의가 있다. 특히 보호요인으로써의 애착안정성의 효과와 빈번하고 지속적인 체벌의 강력한 부정적 효과를 확인할 수 있었으며, 이러한 결과가 실제적으로 부모의 훈육방식과 관련하여 부모 교육 및 치료 중재 프로그램에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.;The Purpose of this study was to examine the causal relationship among corporal punishment, parent attachment and child psychological adjustment problems. 231 children at the age of 8 and their mothers participated in this study. Parenting corporal punishment Scale(Armsden & Greenberg, 1987) and Child Behavior Check List(Oh, Hong, Lee, & Ha, 1997) were completed by the mothers and Inventory of Parent Attachment(Ok, 1998) by the children. The data were analyzed with Pearson's correlations by SPSS 11.0 program, structural equation modeling by AMOS 4.01 program. The Results of the study are as follows:1. There were significant correlations between corporal punishment parent attachment and child psychological adjustment problems. Corporal punishment was significantly related with all of the child psychological adjustment problems and parent attachment. Also parent attachment was negatively related to child psychological adjustment problems. 2. Both corporal punishment and parent attachment had direct effect on child's internalizing and externalizing problems. And the moderating effect of parent attachment in the relation between corporal punishment and child psychological adjustment problems worked. This study confirmed that corporal punishment had both directly and indirectly negative effect on child psychological adjustment problems and parent attachment moderated the relationship between corporal punishment and child psychological adjustment problems. In spite of the significant moderating effect of parent attachment, influence of corporal punishment on child psychological adjustment problems is much more stronger than the moderating effect.
