슈만(Robert Schuman) 「사육제(Carnaval, op.9)」 에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 슈만(Robert Alexander Schumann 1810-1856)의 피아노 작품인 「사육제(Carnaval), op.9」에 관한 연구이다. 낭만주의의 대표적 작곡가로서 표본이 될 만한 슈만은 피아노곡, 예술가곡, 교향곡, 실내악곡, 등 여러 분야의 음악을 작곡하였으나 특히 피아노 음악과 예술가곡에 뛰어난 작품을 많이 남겼다. 또한 일찍이 낭만문학의 영향을 받아 음악과 문학과의 새로운 연결을 시도하여 음악에 표제성을 부여함과 동시에 형식상의 문제를 초월한 자유로운 표현으로 시도되는 성격적 소품(Character Piece)의 장르를 궤도에 올려놓기도 했다. 「사육제」는 각각의 표제를 지닌 슈만의 대표적 성격적 소품으로 「가면무도회」라는 큰 표제로 묶여 통일성을 갖는다. 21개의 짧은 소품으로 구성되어 있으며, 각 표제에 나타나는 장면과 인물의 성격묘사를 통해 가면무도회의 분위기를 표현하고 있다. 이곡의 가장 큰 특징으로는 문학과의 연계성을 들 수 있는데, 이는 각 소품에 표제를 사용하여 곡의 분위기와 성격을 나타내고 있다는 점과 다른 작곡가들에게서 볼 수 없었던 기법인 문자(ASCH)를 이용해 음형화한 점에서 잘 드러난다. 또한 이 작품에서는 실제 인물이나, 문학 속에서의 상상의 인물과 연관된 암시도 나타난다. 「사육제」에 나타난 화성, 리듬 ,선율 등의 음악적 요소들도 각 소품의 성격과 분위기 묘사에 많은 영향을 주고 있는데, 다양한 리듬의 사용, 반음계적 화성, 지속음(Pedal Point) 에 의한 불협화음의 강조, 춤곡에서 유래한 선율 등이 슈만의 몽상적인 즉흥성과 결합되어 표제의 성격을 잘 드러내 주고 있다. 또한 악센트나 음표처리로 박자감 을 모호하게 만들기도 하고, 본 박자와는 다른 박자의 마디가 갑자기 등장하기도 하는 등 형식에 얽매이지 않으려는 자유로움이 보였다. 낭만주의 음악의 특징과 슈만 특유의 음악적 특징들이 단연 돋보이는 작품임을 알 수 있었으며 본 연구가 슈만의 음악적 경향과 이 곡을 이해하는데 도움이 되고자 한다.;This thesis is related to 「Carnaval op.9」which is one of piano works of Robert Alexander Schumann (1810-1856). Schumann is typical composer of Romanticism, which he had composed many kinds of music (Piano Solo, Artistic Song, Symphony, Chamber Music and so on). Specially he leave superb works on Piano and Artistic Song to posterity. He granted the superscription to music , tring to connect between music and literature after getting effect from romantic literature .Then he put a character piece , to be free expression beyond a formal form , on the high grade The 「Carnival」 is representatively character piece of music from Schumann , having each superscription . It has unite character through having big superscription called 「The Masquerade」. It consist of short twenty one pieces of work , and represent the masquerade 's atmosphere through the description of the character and scene in the each superscriptions. The best of characteristic things in this work is the connection with literature , which could help us to realize that through using each superscription of the short piece of music to express a mood and a character , and using the ASCH to make a shape of sound , we could not see that before. Also , we could find the hint of the connection between real character and literature character in this work. Each musical elements in the 「Carnival」 , such as harmony , rhythm , melody has an effect to descrip the characters of each short work and atmosphere. And various using of rhythm , harmony from chromatic scale ,emphasis of dissonance by Pedal Point , and melody from dance music represent superscription 's character , banding Schuman's fantastic impromptu character. We can feel the freedom to be not bound by a formal form in this work , using insertion of beat part from the main beat and hazy thing of the accent and rhythm treatment . We can appreciate an work of Schumann, which has musical specially characteristic of romanticism and his individuality, and I hope that this study help to you to understand what his musical tendency and music.
