김윤경의 "The Space" for Woodwind Quintet 분석 연구

Abstract

김윤경의 “The Space” for Woodwind Quintet은 무조성을 바탕에 두고 작곡된 곡이다. 이 곡은 3개의 악장으로 구성되어 있으며 각각 ‘점’, ‘선’, ‘면’이라는 부제를 지니고 있다. 또한 현대적 색채를 지닌 선율, 리듬, 아티큘레이션(Articulation), 특수주법 등의 다양한 음악적 표현이 이 곡에 사용되었다. “The Space” for Woodwind Quintet은 각 악장이 통일된 음악적 재료들을 바탕으로 발전하는 것을 볼 수 있다. 형식에 있어서 3개의 악장은 모두 세 부분 형식(Ternary Form)으로 구성되었지만 각기 다른 세부 구조를 갖는다. 6개의 동기들은 서로 다른 음정 관계와 리듬 구조를 지니며 발전하고 있다. 하지만 각각의 동기들은 독립적으로 구분지어지기 보다는 다른 동기로부터 파생된 음정과 리듬을 이용하여 생성되기 때문에 모두 연관성을 지니고 있다. 이것은 결국 각 악장이 서로 다른 특징들 속에서 구분되고 있지만 각 악장을 연결시켜주고 있는 공통의 음악적 재료들 속에서 발전하고 있다는 것을 알게 한다. 본 논문은 “The Space” for Woodwind Quintet의 형식, 음정, 리듬을 각 section별로 분석하였다. 이를 통해 각 악장을 표현하고 있는 음악적 재료들의 특징을 알아보고자 한다.;“The Space” for Woodwind Quintet, composed by Kim Yun Kyoung, is a work featuring atonality. Its three movements are entitled ‘dot’, ‘line’, and ‘plane’ respectively. This piece features a variety of musical expressions which denotes a modern character in its melodies, rhythm, articulation, and special playing techniques. The movements for “The Space" for Woodwind Quintet are unified in developing a common musical material. They are identical in employing a ternary form, yet are different in their sub-structures. The six motives are developed using different tone intervals and rhythmic structures. However, each motive is not independent but rather created based on the intervals and rhythms from the other motives, thus maintaining a connection with one another. This recalls one to the fact that although each movement is unique in its own way, all three movements are united based on a common musical material. Present study analyzes each section of “The Space” for Woodwind Quintet, with regard to its form, interval, and rhythm. It aims to understand the characteristics of musical materials that each movement is trying to express.
