A Public Relations Campaign for the Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival

Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to provide a model of effective public relations (PR) materials to attract foreign visitors to the Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival, and to suggest a PR model for other local Korean festivals. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, more than 700 local festivals take place in Korea every year. However, most of the festivals are not very successful in attracting foreign visitors to the festivals because of a lack of public relations. Current advertising focuses primarily on Koreans and a wider PR approach has not been tried. Therefore, this project develops a new public relations campaign model. This thesis is prefaced with a theoretical paper that discusses principles of public relations writing and materials development, and includes a discussion of points to be considered for future public relations campaigns. The public relations campaign itself consists of three different parts: press releases, a magazine article, and a festival guide brochure. Each part applies different methodologies of organization, form, style and visual elements.;본 논문의 목적은 효과적인 홍보 방법과 구체적인 홍보 매체를 통해 외국인 관광객들에게 안성 바우덕이 축제를 알림과 동시에 우리나라에 있는 많은 다른 지역축제에 하나의 홍보 모델을 제시하는데 있다. 한국 관광공사의 자료에 따르면 현재 우리나라에는 700개 이상의 축제가 있음에도 불구하고 홍보의 부족으로 인하여 대부분의 축제들이 외국인 유치에 그리 성공적이지 못한 것이 현실이다. 많은 지역 축제들이 축제를 알리기 위한 방법으로 상대적으로 비용이 많이 드는 광고에 의존하고 있지만 주로 내국인을 상대로 제작된 것이기에 외국인 관광객 유치를 위한 다른 방법론적 접근이 요구 되어지는 상황이다. 그러므로, 본 논문은 우리나라 지역축제를 알리기 위한 목적으로 안성 바우덕이 축제를 모델로 세 가지의 각기 다른 홍보자료를 제작하였다. 본 논문의 전반부는 기술영작의 한 분야인 홍보영작의 방법론을 적용하여 논문작성법에 대하여 기술한다. 또한 후의 다른 홍보활동을 위해 시도할 수 있는 다른 매체와 방법에 대한 논의도 포함한다.
