도움 추구 태도와 귀인 양식 간 관계

Abstract

이 연구는 문제 원인에 대한 책임 귀인과 문제 해결에 대한 책임 귀인을 구별한 Brickman model을 상담에 적용하여 귀인 양식과 전문적 도움 추구에 대한 태도 간 관계를 알아보기 위한 것이다. 연구 가설은 다음과 같다. (1) 문제 원인에 대해 내부 귀인을 하는 사람들이 외부 귀인 하는 사람들에 비해 더 긍정적인 도움 추구 태도를 보일 것이다. (2) 문제 해결책임을 내부 귀인 하는 사람들이 외부 귀인 하는 사람들에 비해 더 긍정적인 도움 추구 태도를 보일 것이다. (3) 문제 원인과 해결에 대한 책임 모두를 내부 귀인 하는 사람들이 다른 사람들에 비해 가장 긍정적인 도움 추구 태도를 보일 것이다. 연구 참여자 서울, 경기 지역 대학생 총 236 명 (남=80, 여=156) 에게, ‘문제 원인과 해결에 대한 귀인 설문지’와 ‘전문적 도움 추구 태도 척도’를 실시하여 변량분석으로 비교 검증하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 문제 원인에 대해 내부 귀인을 하는 사람들과 외부 귀인 하는 사람들 사이에 도움 추구 태도에 차이가 없었다. 둘째, 문제 해결 책임을 내부 귀인 하는 사람들이 외부 귀인 하는 사람들에 비해 더 긍정적인 도움 추구 태도를 보였다. 셋째, 문제 발생 원인과 해결 책임 모두를 내적 귀인 하는 사람들이 다른 사람들에 비해 가장 높은 도움 추구 태도를 보이지 않았다. 이 연구 결과를 종합해 보면, 문제 발생 원인에 대한 귀인 양식보다는 문제 해결 책임 귀인 양식이 전문적 도움 추구 태도 차이를 더 의미 있게 구분한다는 것을 알 수 있다.;The primary purpose of this study is to examine the relation between attributional style and attitudes toward seeking professional help, applying Brickman's model, which makes distinction between attribution for the cause of problems and for the responsibility for problem solving, to counseling. There were three hypotheses: (1) People who internalize the cause of their problems would show more positive attitudes toward seeking professional help than those who externalize the cause of problems. (2) People who internalize the responsibility for problem solving would show more positive attitudes toward seeking professional help than those who externalize the responsibility. (3) People who internalize both the cause of their problems and the responsibility for problem solving would show the most positive attitudes toward seeking professional help than the others. The participants were 236 college students (male=80, female=156) in Seoul and Kyung-gi province. The Attitudes toward Seeking Professional Help scale and questionnaire assessing causal and responsibility attributional style in 20 hypothetical situations were used to measure the attitude toward seeking professional help and attributional style, respectively. The results of ANOVA are as follows. (1) The people who internalized the cause of their problems did not show more positive attitude toward seeking professional help than those who externalized the cause. (2) The people who internalized the responsibility for problem solving did show more positive attitude toward seeking professional help than those who externalized the responsibility. (3) The people who internalized both the cause of their problems and the responsibility for problem solving did not show the most positive attitudes toward seeking professional help than the others. The results show that responsibility attributional style is a more significant factor than causal attributional style to distinguish the attitudes toward seeking professional help.
