프로코피에프 (S. Prokofiev)의 피아노 소나타 No. 2, Op. 14에 대한 분석 연구

Abstract

이 논문에서는 20 세기의 위대한 작곡자 겸 뛰어난 피아니스트인 프로코피에프의 음악 세계를 잘 나타내는 곡의 하나인 「피아노 소나타 제 2 번, Op. 14」를 연구하였다. 이 곡에 드러난 프로코피에프 피아노 소나타 음악의 특징적인 면들을 그의 다른 피아노 소나타 음악들과 아울러 전체적으로 조망하였다. 그의 이러한 작품 경향 및 예술 세계는 그가 살아온 시대적 배경과 밀접한 관련을 가지므로 그의 음악적 특징들을 포괄적으로 이해하기 위하여 그의 음악 활동을 시대적 배경 및 생애와 연관 지어 살펴보았다. 그가 활동했던 20 세기 초는 러시아 혁명과 두 차례의 세계 대전이 발생하여 러시아뿐만 아니라 전 세계적으로 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화적인 혼란의 시기였다. 이러한 혼란기에는 다양한 예술 장르가 공존하는 양상을 띠었다. 프로코피에프는 이러한 시기에 나타나 독창적인 피아노 음악을 선보였으며 그의 음악 세계는 후에 신고전주의라 일컬어지게 되었다. 사회주의 체제하의 러시아에서 활동한 시기에는 사회주의적 사실주의라 일컬어지는 예술 경향을 이끌며, 러시아 음악이 발전하는데 기여하였다. 프로코피에프는 이 작품뿐만 아니라 그의 다른 작품에서도 발견되는 특징을 다섯 가지로 꼽았는데, 이는 고전적, 현대적, 토카타적, 서정적, 그로테스크적이다. 이러한 특징을 프로코피에프의 초기 피아노 음악인 「피아노 소나타 제 2 번, Op. 14」와 그 밖의 피아노 소나타를 통해 살펴보았고 그럼으로써 이러한 요소들이 「피아노 소나타 제 2 번, Op. 14」의 중요한 요소임을 알게 되었다. 「피아노 소나타 제 2 번, Op. 14」를 분석함으로써 이 곡의 구조와 주제들에 대해서도 이해하고 정리하였다. 이러한 연구 과정을 통해서, 프로코피에프가 그의 독창성을 전통에 접목시킴으로써 새로운 소리를 창조해내었고 피아노 음악의 역량을 한층 더 넓혔음을 알게 되었다.;Sergey Prokofiev is one of the greatest composers and pianists in 20th century. He is considered as a successor to the tradition of the Russian piano music, which was established from Rubinstein to Rachmaninoff and an innovator in the field of piano music since Debussy. Piano Sonata No. 2, Op 14, one of the earliest piano sonatas by Prokofiev, is the subject of this thesis. The unique and creative characteristics shown in this sonata as well as his other piano sonatas were over-viewed in this thesis. Since his musical style and tendency must be affected by and closely related to the time through which he had lived, his musical activities were described chronologically by his personal milestones being emphasized in order to understand the origin of his musical characters and the originality of his music in a systematic fashion. In the early part of the last century marked by the Russian Soviet Revolution and the two World Wars, Russia as well as the rest of the world was in political, economical, social, and cultural chaos. In such a chaotic period of time, a variety of genres co-exist. Prokofiev demonstrated his revolutionary ideas with his controversial piano works, which belong to Neo-Classicism. When he returned to Soviet Unions, he made much contribution to Russian music by leaning toward an artistic tendency, so-called "Socialistic Realism". Prokofiev mentioned five characteristics found in his other piano works as well as this work: classical, modern, toccata, lyrical, and grotesque. In this thesis, these characteristics were illustrated and exemplified using parts from his Piano Sonatas including Piano Sonata No. 2 and were shown to be essential elements of his piano works. Then, Piano Sonata No. 2, Op. 14 was analyzed in detail to understand the structure and theme of this Sonata. Through this study, we learned that Prokofiev created new sound by incorporating his originality to the tradition and made a great contribution in expanding the capability of the piano.
