초등학생의 국악기 인식도

Abstract

Man has made music for a long time and devised how to produce sounds by using instruments, but methods to emit sounds are different in every race and we can see racial characteristics and their living environments through musical instruments of each race. However, currently 'Music' for Koreans gives its priority to foreign music, art music of the West in particular, rather than their traditional music, and instrumental education is also executed centering on Western musical instruments rather than Korean instruments. The purpose of this paper was to research the understanding of traditional Korean musical instruments of elementary school students who will lead Korean future, and the subjects were divided into two groups of Chugye Elementary School students who were educated with traditional Korean musical instruments and common elementary school students who were not educated with traditional Korean musical instruments. The students responded through the questionnaire and the results were as follows. First, for the question about subjects' favorite musical instruments, 97.9% of common elementary school students responded they liked Western instruments and 2.1% liked traditional Korean instruments, while 68.2% of Chugye Elementary School students liked Korean instruments and 31.8% liked the Western instruments. Second, for the question about musical instruments, which they were learning currently, common elementary school students responded the Western instruments 93% and Korean instruments 4.1%, but the students of Chugye said the Korean instruments 64.7% and Western instruments 35.3%. Third, for musical instruments, which they want to learn, 78.9% of common elementary school students wanted to learn how to play the Western instruments and 21.1% of them wanted to learn the Korean instruments. On the other hand, 78.2% of Chugye Elementary School students wanted to learn the Korean instruments and 21.8% of them wanted the Western instruments. Fourth, for the understanding of traditional Korean musical instruments, the students of common elementary school knew 4.5 Korean instruments on the average. 1% of them did not know even one Korean instrument and 4% could not separate the Korean and the Western instruments. However, the students of Chugye Elementary School knew 9.3 Korean instruments on the average and there was no student who did not know a Korean instrument or who could not separate between the Korean and the Western instruments. In order the students of common elementary school to learn Korean traditional music, lessons in Korean traditional music should be strengthened in the training courses for educators, and teachers who are teaching at schools at present should be able to teach children by acquiring Korean music through training by professional Korean traditional musicians. Also, as the persons who give potent influences on children when they experience musical instruments are their parents, education for parents through a professional institute of Korean traditional music is necessary to change understanding of parents who were educated centering on the Western music.;인간은 오랜 세월 동안 음악을 만들어 왔으며 도구를 이용하여 음을 내는 방법을 고안하였는데 그 방법은 각기 민족마다 다르며 각 민족의 악기를 통해 그 민족성과 생활환경 등을 알 수가 있다. 그러나 현재 우리나라에서 '음악'이라 하면 전통적으로 있어왔던 우리음악 보다는 외래음악, 특히 서양의 예술음악이 우선시 되고 있으며, 이것은 악기교육에 있어서도 마찬가지로 국악기보다 서양악기 중심의 교육이 이루어 지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 우리의 미래를 이끌어 나갈 초등학생들을 대상으로 하여 현재 국악기에 대한 인식도가 어떠한지를 알아보았는데 대상을 국악기교육을 받은 추계초등학교학생 그룹과 국악기교육을 받지 못한 일반초등학교 그룹, 둘로 나누어 조사하였다. 학생들에게 설문을 통하여 응답하게 하였는데 그 결과는 다음과 같이 나타났다. 첫 번째로 좋아하는 악기에 있어서 일반초등학교 아이들은 97.9%가 서양악기를 좋아하고 2.1%가 국악기를 좋아한다고 답했으나 추계초등학교의 경우 68.2%의 아이들이 국악기를 좋아하고 31.8%의 아이들이 서양악기를 좋아한다고 반응했다. 두 번째로는 현재 배우고 있는 악기로는 일반초등학교 아이들의 93%의 학생들이 서양악기를 배우고 4.1%의 학생들이 국악기를 배우고 있다고 답했으나 추계초등학교의 경우 64.7%의 학생들이 국악기를 배우고 있으며 35.3%의 학생들이 서양의 악기를 배운다고 대답하였다. 세 번째로 배우고 싶은 악기로는 일반초등학교 학생들은 78.9%의 학생들이 서양의 악기를 배우고 싶고 21.1%의 학생들이 국악기를 배우고 싶다고 대답한 반면 추계초등학교 어린이들은 78.2%학생들이 국악기를 배우고 싶다고 하였고 21.8%의 학생들이 서양의 악기를 배우고 싶다고 대답한 것으로 나타났다. 네 번째로 국악기 인식도에 있어서는 일반초등학교 학생들의 경우 평균 4.5개의 국악기를 알고 있으며 1%의 학생들이 국악기를 한 가지도 알지 못하였으며 4%의 학생들은 국악기와 서양악기의 구분을 하지 못하고 있는 것으로 드러난 반면 추계초등학교 학생들이 경우 평균 9.3개의 국악기를 알고 있었으며 국악기를 한 가지도 모르는 학생과 국악기와 서양악기를 구분하지 못하는 학생은 단 한명도 없는 것으로 나타났다. 일반초등학교 학생들이 우리음악을 제대로 배우기 위해서는 교육자 양성을 하는 과정에서 국악을 강화하고 현재 학교에서 아이들을 가르치는 선생님들은 전문 국악인 으로부터 연수를 통해 우리 음악을 습득하여 아이들을 가르치는 것이 필요하다. 두 번째로 아이들이 악기를 접할 때 가장 커다란 영향을 끼치는 사람은 부모이므로 서양음악을 위주로 교육받은 부모들의 인식을 바꾸기 위해 전문 국악교육기관을 통하여 부모교육이 꼭 필요하다.
