도메니코 스카를랏티(Domenico Scarlatti)의 하프시코드 소나타 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 본인의 석사 과정 이수를 위한 졸업 연주회의 곡목 중 스카를랏티(Domenico Scarlatti, 1685-1757)의 하프시코드 소나타에 관한 연구이다. 스카를랏티는 바로크에서 고전으로 넘어가는 과도기의 작곡가로서 자신만의 독특한 음악 세계를 구축하였는데, 대략 550여개나 되는 소나타를 통해서 건반 음악을 한 단계 올려놓은 획기적인 시도를 이뤄냈다. 그는 나폴리에서 태어난 이태리 사람이지만, 소나타 작품의 대부분을 스페인에서 작곡하였다. 따라서 스페인의 민요, 춤, 악기의 영향을 받아 독특한 음색과 다양한 리듬 그리고 고도의 연주기법을 창출하였다. 스카를랏티 소나타의 기교성을 과시할 수 기회는 특히 초기 작품에 많이 있는데, 넓은 도약, 폭넓은 아르페지오, 그리고 비정상적으로 넓은 음역 등이 나타나며, 빈번한 손 교차, 양손이 밀접하게 중복 연주하는 것과 더불어 그의 스타일의 특징을 이룬다. 빠른 속도의 반복음, 3도와 6도로 된 화려한 패시지, 내성부에서의 트릴 등이 작곡가의 독창성에 추가되어 기교적인 도전으로 나타난다. 본 연구에서는 당시 스카를랏티가 사용했던 악기인 하프시코드의 일반적인 특징과 연주법을 알아보고 그의 소나타와 악기의 관계를 고찰해본다. 또한 스카를랏티 소나타의 유래를 알아보기 위해 악보집을 살펴보고 그에게 영향을 준 인물과 음악을 연구함으로써, 그의 음악이 어디에서 유래되었으며 어떻게 발전되었는지 살펴본다. 그리고 스카를랏티 소나타의 특징을 형식, 주제의 유형, 고도의 하프시코드 주법, 하프시코드로 창출되는 음향, 춤의 요소, 다른 장르와의 연관으로 나누어 연구함으로써, 18세기의 건반음악에 있어서 전통에 도전하고 연주 기법상의 새로운 양식을 만들어낸 스카를랏티의 독창성과 그 음악적 가치를 알아본다.;This thesis is a study on Domenico Scarlatti(1685-1757)'s harpsichord sonatas that are among repertoires carefully selected for my graduation recital to finish my master's degree. In this thesis, I will present the mechanism and manner in its performance through 'Harpsichord' with which he had composed all of his sonatas. And the origin of his music, how all these affected his sonatas, and the characteristics of his sonatas. He was a composer at the transitional stages of Baroque and Classical music and established his own unique music style. He greatly succeeded in his innovative attempts to enhance the level of a keyboard music up to another advanced one through as many as nearly 550 sonatas. Most of his sonatas are one-movement in the binary form. The first part starts with the tonic and proceeds along with dominant or related keys. The second part modulates even further and comes back to the tonic, which is considered to be the harbinger of the Classical sonatas. He is a Naples-born Italian, but most of his sonatas were written in Spain. So, Spanish culture-Spanish folk songs, dances, and instruments-had a grave influence on his music which, in turn, led to the creation of high-level keyboard techniques characterized by the unique musical color and various rhythms. Scarlatti boasted of his characteristic feature of virtuosity especially in his early works. In them, broad leaps, wide arpeggio and an unusually broad compass are attention-grabbing traits of his style along with frequent hand-crossings and the duplicate playing with both hands close together. The fast-flowing repeated notes, magnificently technical passages and the trills of the inner voice with the composer's virtuosity and originality added to them proved to be technical challenges. Domenico Scarlatti achieved the great success of forging his own innovative style by challenging the tradition and making milestone-setting attempts, which makes him the most creative and original composer of the 18th century in the keyboard music. His music is perfectly matched with the instrument named Harpsichord in terms of the instrument's sound color and characteristics. His music is still very much loved by many pianists of today.
