Francis Poulenc의 연가곡 「La Fraîcheur et le feu」에 관한 연구 및 분석

Abstract

Francis Poulenc was one of the most representative French song composers of the twentieth century. Though he composed much orchestral music, piano music, his outstanding genre was vocal music, opera, choral works and melodies with his gift for charming lyrical melody. Poulenc inherited his father's catholicism and mother's artistic gifts, for his music has these two different sides-sacred and secular. Poulenc's music includes various styles of music, from deep and profound to soft and lyrical children's songs. Poulenc often used lines from his contemporary poets like Apollinaire and Eluard. These surrealist poets endeavored to find the internality and the infinite world beyond their own egos. This, in combination with to Poulenc's music and creates a perfect harmony. The subject matter of this study is 「La fraîcheur et le feu」, which is one of the most outstanding works of poulenc's fourth period. In his work, 『Vue donne vie』, which the is based on Eluard's poem, he portrays and harmonizes the contradistinction between light and dark, masculine and feminine beautifully. Before beginning the detailed analysis of these songs, a discussion of the life of Poulenc and general traits of his music style, and also the life of Eluard and traits of his poems is entered into. There follows an analysis of the musical form, the rhythm, components, progression of the vocal melody, functions of the piano part and meaning of the texts. Combining all these considerable elements, the characteristics of the songs are as follows: 1. The Formal structure is divided into seven songs and the sixth one is variation form structure, which harmonizes in unity. 2. Tonality is ambiguous due to frequent modulation but certain notes are maintained by using pedal point and partially using same notes at the introduction and the postlude, which indicates tonality of the songs. 3. This song cycle consists of seven songs in which sections are united by similarities of rhythm and tempo. 4. In the piano accompaniament, Poulenc mainly uses arpeggio, chromatic scale, pedal point, doubling of the vocal line and sometimes imitation of the vocal line to enhance and fulfill the melody. 5. Each song indicates all the details of expression, tempo and various dynamics by the composer to maximize his intention and the mood. The hope is that this thesis might be helpful to any performer who performs Poulenc's 「La fraîcheur et le feu」 in order to effectively perform according to its unique beauty.;뿔랑(Francis Poulenc 1899-1963)은 20세기 프랑스 현대 음악의 대표적인 작곡가이다. 그는 관현악곡, 피아노곡 등 많은 기악작품들을 작곡하였으며, 여러 장르에 걸쳐 작곡을 하였으나 특히 오페라, 합창, 가곡 등 성악곡이 중심 장르이다. 뿔랑은 아버지의 종교적인 믿음과 어머니의 음악적인 재능을 이어 받았는데 그의 음악적 스타일에서 두 가지의 대립적인 조화가 나타난다. 종교적인 것과 세속적인 것의 조화가 바로 그것이다. 뿔랑의 가곡에는 서정적이고 심오한 곡에서부터 동요조적인 단순한 음악에 이르기까지 다양한 음악적 스타일을 나타낸다. 뿔랑은 주로 동시대의 시인 아폴리네르(Gaillaume Apollinaire, 1880-1918)와 엘뤼아르(Paul Eluard, 1985-1952)의 시를 사용하였다. 초현실주의자들인 이들의 내면성 또는 그 이상의 자아를 발견하려는 시적노력은 뿔랑의 음악적 스타일과 조화를 이루어 완벽한 하모니를 자아내고 있다. 본 논문의 연구대상인 냉기와 열기『La fraîcheur et le feu』는 1950년도에 작곡된 제4기의 작품으로 이 시기를 대표하는 최고의 작품으로 일컬어진다. 선적인 지향과 명암의 대조가 짙어지는 경향을 보이는 이 시기의 작품은 초현실주의 시인 엘뤼아르의 시 보는 것이 삶을 준다『Vue donne vie』에 붙여진 곡으로 빛과 어둠, 남성과 여성의 대립적인 대조의 시어를 조화 시키며 아름답게 그려내고 있다. 그의 가곡에 나타난 전반적인 특징과 각각의 개별악곡에 나타난 구조, 성악 선율, 피아노부, 화성 등을 분석하여 살펴본 결과 다음과 같은 특징을 지니고 있음을 알 수 있다. 첫째로 제1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7곡이 통절형식이며, 제6곡은 변형된 유절형식으로 이루어져있다. 또한 각 악곡의 구성은 대조성의 원리에 입각하고 있다. 둘째로 이 연가곡은 전체적으로 조성의 모호함을 보이고 있지만 실제로 부분적인 음을 통하여 곡의 조성의 통일감을 확립하고 있다. 셋째로 일곱 곡으로 이루어진 이 연가곡은 리듬과 템포에서 유사성을 지녀 하나의 연가곡으로의 통일성을 기하고 있다. 넷째로 피아노 성부는 아르페지오와 반음계, 페달포인트 기법으로 성악 선율에 나타나는 시의 분위기를 채색하고 화성적으로 풍부하게 뒷받침해주고 있다. 다섯째로 각각의 곡들은 모두 정확한 빠르기말과 템포 제시, 다양한 다이나믹과 세심한 악상기호로 작곡가의 의도를 분명히 밝혀 곡을 효과적으로 표현하고 있다. 이 논문을 통해 연가곡『La fraîcheur et le feu』를 연주하는 분들에게 도움이 되기를 바라며 이 아름다운 뿔랑의 연가곡이 지닌 가치대로 더욱더 효과적으로 연주되어지기를 바란다.
