가정에서 사용하는 유아용 비디오 보유실태와 적절성에 관한 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 가정에서의 유아용 비디오 보유실태를 조사하고, 이러한 비디오에 대한 유아의 발달적 적절성을 살펴봄으로써 유아용 비디오의 교육적인 활용을 위한 기초 자료를 마련하고자 하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이와 같이 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 설정한 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 1. 가정에서 사용하는 유아용 비디오의 보유실태는 어떠한가? 2. 가정에서 가장 많이 보유하고 있는 유아용 비디오의 적절성은 어떠한가? 본 연구는 중상류 계층에 다니고 있는 서울시에 소재한 5개 유치원 만 3세, 4세, 5세반 유아의 어머니 500명을 대상으로 각 가정에서 보유하고 있는 비디오 목록에 대한 설문을 배부하였다. 총 309부(61.8%의 회수율)가 회수되었으며 이 중 유아용 비디오를 사용하지 않는다는 설문 7부를 제외하고, 총 302부에서 응답한 비디오 목록자료를 최종분석대상으로 하였다. 302부에서 제시한 가정에서 보유하고 있는 비디오 목록 총 176개의 보유실태를 분석하고, 이 중에서 가장 많이 보유하고 있는 비디오 목록 상위 15%인 25개를 선정하여 이에 대한 발달적 적절성을 분석하였다. 유아기의 발달적 적절성을 알아보기 위한 분석도구로는 Truxal(1994)이 제시한 「3-6세를 대상으로 한 영화/비디오/TV 프로그램에 대한 적절성 평가준거」를 박소연(2001)이 번안한 것을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 가정에서 보유하고 있는 유아용 비디오 176개의 실태를 분석한 결과, 국내 개발사의 경우보다 외국 개발사의 경우가 훨씬 많았으며, 가격대는 2만원 이상～3만원 미만이 가장 많았다. 유아용 비디오의 상영시간대는 전반적으로 30분 이상～60분 미만이었고, 비디오의 형태는 실사와 애니메이션 혼합이 대부분이었고, 실사, 애니메이션 순이었다. 비디오의 주제는 영어학습용이 가장 많고, 사회, 문학 순으로 많이 있었고, 이에 비해 다른 주제의 비디오들은 상대적으로 적게 보유하고 있는 실정이었다. 프로그램 연령 등급의 배분은 92.61%의 비디오가 전체 이용가였다. 둘째, 가정에서 보유하고 있는 유아용 비디오 중 가장 많이 보유하고 있는 상위 15% 25개 비디오를 분석해본 결과, 이중 80점대 이상의 19개 비디오는 3-6세 유아들이 시청하기에 추천으로 평가되었으며, 60점대 이하인 2개의 비디오는 부적절한 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 발달적 적절성 분석에서 낮은 점수를 받은 비디오 뿐 아니라 전체점수에서 높은 점수를 받은 비디오 중에서도 주제의 적절성, 제작의 우수성, 비폭력성, 언어/역할 모델의 적절성, 반편견에 대한 적절성 각 범주에서 유아의 발달상 모두 적합한 것만은 아니었다.;The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the effective use of videos for young children by researching the state of possessed videos for young children at homes and analyzing the propriety of these videos. The research question of study are as the following; 1. The current state of young children's videos possessed at homes 2. The proprieties of the videos for young children possessed widely at homes A questionnaire was distribute to the 500 mothers that who have 2-5 years old kindergarteners in Seoul, Korea. In order to research the current state of videos for young children, total 176 young children's video titles are collected by answers. Among these videos, 25 videos which rank high in 15% are selected in order to analyze the propriety of the videos to young children at homes. These 25 videos are analyzed by adopting 「standard for propriety Assesment of Movie/video/TV programme for the Ages of 3 to 6」designed by Truxal(1994). The propriety of the videos to young children are estimated to be embodied into numeral codes. The videos, based on the embodied codes, divided into a few categories according to their propriety to young children. This materials are evaluated to be given points from 1 to 5 according to each of the standards. The total point of a material is obtained by sum of each points rated by different standards. The total points of each material are provided as a degree of the property in the second subject of this study. The conclusion of this study can be summarized as follows; First, there were total 176 young children's video titles in homes, 60 were developed by Korean company, 110 were developed by foreign company, and 6 are developed by cooperation between Korean and foreign companies. In terms of the price, most(75.56%) of them were between twenty thousand won(￦20,000) and thirty thousand won(￦30,000). In the terms of the running time, most(75.56%) of them were between thirty minutes and sixty minutes. In the terms of the production technique, combination of realism and animation technique are used by 63.06%. Each of the realism and the animation technique is followed. Main subjects of the videos possessed at homes are mostly English studying(43titles), social study(35 titles), literature(33 titles). In terms of age rank, most(92.61%) of them were for all ages. Second, 25 videos which rank high in 15% were analyzed according to the propriety assesment. As a result, 19 pieces videos above 80 points are recommended to be watched. And 2 pieces videos of rest under 60 points are unacceptable for young children to be watched. From the result of the developmental proprieties assesment, not all videos given high points as well as videos given poor points in total points are acceptable for all ranges such as theme content, production, violence, language/role modeling, stereotypes.
