융의 심리유형론의 관점에서 본 사티어 의사소통 유형 이론의 재고찰

Abstract

본 논문은 융의 심리유형론의 관점에서 사티어의 의사소통 유형의 이론을 재고찰하는 것을 목표로 한다. 지금까지 융의 심리유형론과 사티어의 의사소통 유형 이론 각각에 대한 연구는 비교적 활발하게 있어왔지만, 사티어가 자신의 이론에서 언급한 각각의 의사소통의 유형들을 다른 이론적인 접근을 통하여 바라본 연구는 거의 이루어지지 않았다고 말할 수 있다. 이러한 점에서, 본 필자는 사티어의 의사소통 유형 이론을 새로운 심리적인 접근으로 고찰하고자 했는데, 특별히 융의 심리유형론을 그 도구로 사용하였다. 사티어는 가족치료가로서 가족의 체계와 구조에 따른 치료적인 접근을 시도하였다. 특별히 사티어는 가족 간의 의사소통의 중요성을 강조하였는데, 이 때 사티어가 말하는 의사소통은 비단 가족 구성원끼리의 의사소통뿐만 아니라 일반적인 대인관계에서의 의사사통의 차원으로까지 확대될 수 있는 것이다. 사티어는 사람들의 의사소통 유형을 관찰하여 크게 5가지의 유형으로 구분하였는데, 크게는 역기능적인 의사소통과 기능적인 의사소통의 유형으로 나누어진다. 역기능적인 의사소통의 유형으로는 회유형, 비난형, 초이성형, 산만형의 4가지 유형이 있고, 기능적인 의사소통 유형으로는 일치형이 있다. 사티어는 누구나 기능적인 의사소통 유형을 학습하여 보다 건강하고 기능적인 의사소통을 해야 할 것을 주장하고 있다. 융은 비교적 널리 알려진 심리분석가로서, 그의 심리학적인 이론은 매우 복잡하고도 방대하지만 특별히 본 논문에서는 융의 심리유형론에 초점을 맞추었다. 융은 사람은 누구나 독특하고 고유한 심리적인 유형을 가지는데, 그러한 유형이 선천적으로 타고나는 것이라고 주장하였다. 그러한 유형들 가운데에서도 비교적 보편적이고 비슷한 유형들끼리 다시 구분할 수 있는데, 이것은 일반적인 태도의 측면에서는 내향형-외향형, 정신 기능의 측면에서는 사고 기능-감정 기능, 감각 기능-직관 기능으로 구분할 수 있다. 자신이 가지는 독특한 심리적인 유형에 따라 성격이 결정되고 대인관계의 종류와 특성이 결정되며, 그러므로 의사소통 유형까지도 결정된다고 말할 수 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 융의 심리유형론의 측면에서 사티어의 의사소통 유형 이론을 재고찰함으로써, 사티어가 추구하는 기능적인 의사소통 유형인 일치형의 의사소통 유형을 보다 본질적이고 심리 내적인 차원에서 재학습할 수 있음을 나타내고자 하였다. 자신에게 주어진 선천적인 심리적인 유형을 정확히 알고 인식함으로써, 반대로 자신에게 열등한 심리적인 측면과 기능을 인식함으로써 그것을 보완하고 개발하려는 노력이 가능하다. 이러한 노력을 통하여 보다 건강하고 전체적으로 통합된 심리적인 유형을 가질 수 있게 될 것이고, 그것은 바로 건강하고 기능적인 의사소통의 형태로 나타나게 될 것이다. 의사소통의 재학습, 혹은 전체적으로 통합된 심리유형을 갖게 된다는 것이 결코 쉽지 않은 길임에는 틀림이 없다. 그럼에도 불구하고 우리는 이러한 끊임없는 노력을 통하여 보다 건강하고 기능적인 의사소통을 할 수 있게 되고, 그러한 의사소통과 대인관계를 통하여 보다 건강하고 충만한 삶을 살 수 있게 될 것이다.;The purpose of this thesis is to newly considerate the communication theory of Virginia Satir through the Carl Gustav Jung's psychology - especially psychological typology. There are many articles and theses about both the communication theory of Virginia Satir and Jung's psychological typology by themselves. However, there is few researches or theses so far that deal with the communication theory of Satir through other perspectives. For that consequence, it will be a good trial to make a reconsideration about the communication theory of Satir from another point of view and in this thesis, Jung's psychological typology is used to do this work as a tool. Virginia Satir was a family therapist. She tried to recover and heal the families who had many kinds of problems on a systematic perspective. Above all, she thought that the communication between family members is very important to approach the problems. Although Virginia Satir was a family therapist and only mentioned the communication within a family, communicating process is also critical in a general relationship. Virginia Satir observed communicating forms people used and divided into five communication types which are divided again into the four mal-functional communication types and the one functional communication type. The mal-functional communication types include placating stance, blaming stance, super-reasonable stance, and irrelevant stance, while the functional communication type is congruent stance. Satir believed that every person had one's own native tendency and ability to learn the congruent communication type. Carl Gustav Jung is a famous psychologist and psychoanalyst. Also, Jung's many psychological theories are famous for its hugeness and complexity, but this theses only discusses Jung's psychological typology among Jung's many various psychological theories. Jung, like Satir, observed many people and focused on differences that they have in every part such as personality, the way of thinking, values and even communication styles. As a result of these observations, Jung concluded that each person has a unique and inherent psychological type which is natural. However, those unique psychological types can be divided by their similarities into some types, which are introverted/extroverted type in general attitude part, and thinking/feeling function, sensing/intuitional function in psychological function part. In other words, each person has a unique psychological type that results in his/her unique personality, relation patterns with other people, and even the communication style or type. This thesis considers and interprets Satir's communication theory through the perspective of Jung's psychological typology, which has not been tried yet. It shows that every people can possibly learn the congruent stance Satir pursued as a functional communication type if they notice their own psychological types. Everyone can realize and perceive one's own psychological type, especially inferior functions which make mal-functioning communication types. From this realizing and perceiving, they are able to try to make up for the inferior functions and to get the integrated personality and psychological type. This integrated personality and psychological type can make the functional communication types. It is surely not easy to relearn the new functional communication type and to get an integrated psychological type. However, through the incessant errors and trials toward this people can get more healthy and functional communication type in their mind, and eventually they can make much better relationship with other people and live more mature life.
