잠재의식(潛在意識)의 시각적 표현연구

Abstract

현대의 예술가들은 대상의 외관에 대한 재현뿐만 아니라, 자신의 내면 속의 다양한 문제들을 탐구, 그리고 탐구한 내용들을 어떻게 예술로서 표출해내는 가에 좀더 관심을 가지기 시작하였으며 또한 자신의 정신세계를 예술에 적용함으로써 의식적이고 의도적인 창조와는 다른 자신만의 독특한 시각표현 추구하고자 한다. 이 과정에서 아무리 100%의 잠재의식적 표현이라고 하더라도 표현과정을 거치면서 표현자의 의식이 관여하게 되고 표현자가 작품 위에 의도적으로 질서를 부여하기 때문에 대부분의 표현들은 완전한 무의식적 표현이라고는 할 수 없다. 즉, 예술(藝術)은 잠재의식(潛在意識)과 의식이 상호 관계하면서 표면화(表面化)되는 혼합체인 것이다. 본 연구에서 중점적으로 다룰 내용들은 인간의 잠재의식(潛在意識) 세계에 관한 것들로서, 이를 통하여 본 연구자가 표현하고자 하는 것은, ‘나’라는 주체 속에 또 다른 ‘나’ 인 잠재의식의 세계가 존재하며, 그 세계를 통하여 본인만의 잠재의식의 세계가 반영된 독특한 세계를 찾는 것이 최종 목적일 것이다. 그러므로 Ⅱ장에서는 예술창조에 있어 중요한 역할을 하는 의식과 무의식, 그리고 잠재의식에 대하여 S.프로이드(Sigmund Freud)와 칼 구스타프 융(Carl Gustav Jung), 그리고 그 밖의 심리학자들의 이론을 바탕으로 자세히 알아보고 기본적으로 이러한 정신 구조는 어떻게 형성되는지 살펴보기로 한다. Ⅲ장에서는 잠재의식과 예술의 관계를 알아보고, 잠재의식의 세계에 대한 많은 연구가 있었던, 초(超)현실주의 작가들과 그 밖의 초(超)현실적인 작품세계를 가지고 있던 작가들의 잠재의식 및 표현방법에 대하여 연구하여, 본인의 표현에 도움을 받고자 한다. Ⅳ장 에서는 Ⅲ장에서의 결론을 바탕으로 본인의 ‘잠재의식의 시각적 표현’을 통해 본인만의 세계가 반영된 독특한 세계를 찾고자 한다. 참된 예술작품은 비밀로 가득 차고 수수께끼 같은 신비스런 방식으로 예술가로부터 생겨난다.” -Wassily Kandinsky- ‘너 자신을 알라’ - Socrates - 본 연구를 통해 본 연구자가 표현하고자 하는 것은 현실세계가 아닌 우리의 내면 깊숙이에 존재하는 의식화 될 수 있는 또 다른 세계를 시각화 하는데 있다. 그 세계는 우리가 다른 사람과 다른 특성을 갖도록 해주며, 예술가에게는 예술가로서 독특한 작품 세계를 갖는데 도움을 준다. 본인은 이러한 잠재의식의 세계에 대한 연구를 통하여, 본인만의 세계가 반영된 독특한 세계를 찾아, 앞으로의 작업에 척도가 되길 기대한다.;Spirit is not only the power to reveal artists’ soul to appreciators in their works but also a mediator between the artists and appreciators. This study is regarding spiritual world of human beings including consciousness, the unconscious, and the subconscious that is a part of the unconscious as well. The subconscious is influenced by each one’s different experience and memories, which causes artists to have their own unique color in their works. Therefore, the subconscious exists with different appearances according to individuals. I tried to research into the subconscious world. For this, I referred to surrealism artist’s works which had already researched in the subconscious. A part of the subconscious that commonly gave the artists inspiration is built up by their childhood and present experience. So I also use my childhood memories and experience to access to my subconscious. I put “me” at the present and “me” in my childhood together in the same place to express my subconscious using the way of illustration, which is the same way Rene Magrit or Edward hopper did in their works arranging the various forms which had no connection and logic in a canvas to express a hypothetical world. Artists express their spiritual state by revealing their inner urge on their works. It means that their works reflects their subconscious naturally. Art is the behavior expressing their inner world formed by artist’s subconscious. I expressed my subconscious world visually avoiding the trite visual expression of consciousness world to arouse appreciators’ sympathy. I also focused on finding out my own unique world and giving the space for appreciators to imagine by expressing distinct stories of my subconscious visually. As we see above, painting a picture is like exploring into the inner world. The creative achievement of human beings originates from subconscious world which exists in the bottom of our spirit. “I” is the main subject in creation of Art. Through this study, I have come to know the subconscious which is a part of spiritual world of human beings as a way of using my artistic inspiration, and I have laid a cornerstone of maturing me further in my works. I will continue researching into “Myself” as a being of mystery.
