우체국 소포상자 개선에 관한 연구

Abstract

지구촌 시대란 말이 옛 말이 되 버린 것처럼, 문을 닫고 혼자 생활할 수 있는 시대는 지났다. 앞으로 문은 더 많이 열려질 것이고, 다른 국가들의 보다 많은 것들이 들어올 것이고, 우리의 것 역시 그들에게 전달될 것이다. 다시 말해서, 지금 세계는 그 어느 때보다 시간적, 공간적으로 가까워지고 있다. 이러한 흐름 속에서, 자국의 고유한 전통과 가치를 유지하고 응용하여, 세계에 알리는 작업은 필수적이다. 우체국에서 배송되는 소포 또한 예외는 아니다. 소포는 수출을 하거나 의도적으로 나라를 홍보하는 수단은 아니지만 지금과 같이 국가간의 경계가 없어지고 국제화되는 시대에 세계의 어느 곳을 불문하고 종횡무진 그 얼굴을 드러내며 세계를 누비고 있는 소포상자의 디자인 개선이야말로 우리에게 주어진 시급한 과제라고 생각되었다. 그래하여 우리 고유의 전통적인 형태를 모색하고 이를 박스 디자인에 적용시킴으로써 '한국다움=세계화'를 향한 우리 디자인의 세계화의 출발에 올바른 방향을 제시하기 위하여 우리나라 소포상자 디자인의 개선을 위한 연구를 하게 되었다. 외국으로 배송되는 소포상자가 우리나라의 이미지와 한국의 우체국 이미지를 묘사할 수 있는 데 있어 결코 다른 홍보매체에 뒤지지 않은 효과를 지니고 있는 점을 감안할 때 소포상자의 효과적인 활용은 무척 중요하다. 작은 소포상자가 '한국'이라는 국가 브랜드 홍보 사절의 역할을 충분히 해냄으로써 국가 이미지를 향상 발전시키는 것이라 할 수 있다. 본 연구 과정으로 먼저, 제 2장에서는 소포 우편포장의 이해를 위해 소포우편물의 일반적인 정의에 대해 기술하고, 소포상자를 만드는 재료인 골판지와 골판지 상자의 종류를 살펴보았다. 제3장에서는 소포상자에 한국적 소재를 적용하기 위하여 한국적 소재의 의의와 형성에 대해 알아보고, 세계화에 발맞추기 위해 한국적 소재의 현대적 전개에 대해서도 논하였다. 제4장에선튼 현재 우리나라 우체국 소포상자와 외국 우체국의 소포상자사례의 비교, 분석을 통해 우리나라 우체국 소포상자의 문제점을 살펴보았다. 이러한 이론적인 고찰을 통해 국제적으로 우리의 얼굴이 되는 소포상자에 한국적 소재를 적용하여 한국적인 것을 잊지 않는 것을 전제로, 외국인들의 시각을 고려하여 시대에 뒤처지지 않는 현대적인 전개 또한 잊지 말아야 한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리하여 본 연구자는 한국적 소재인 소반과 색동 등을 소포상자 디자인에 적용하여 한국의 미를 잘 전달하며 구조적으로 튼튼하고 실용적인 상자를 디자인하고자 하였다. 본 논문을 통하여 본 연구의 내용과 작업이 하나의 사례로서 우리나라 우정사업본부의 국제우편사업에 그리고 더 나아가 우리나라의 이미지 개선의 방향 설정에 미약하나마 도움이 되었으면 하는 바램이다.;The era global village was used for a long time to let people not to be isolated. More doors were likely to open and to import more things from foreign countries and to export our things to those countries. In other words, the world was being close in time and space than ever. Under such a trend, each country was demanded to keep and make use of inherent tradition and values and to inform the world of them. The case was also applied to the parcel that postal offices delivered. the parcel was not a means to export and to advertise a country intentionally : In the era of internationalization, boundary lines between countries disappeared to let parcels make appearance at any place in the world so that design of parcel box was urgentley needed to improve it. This study examined improvement of designs of parcel box in Korea to suggest directions of designs of the Korean parcel boxes to fine out traditional types and to apply it to the boxes and to realize 'Korean traditional values and internationalization'. The parcel boxes being delivered to foreign countries could express images of the Korean postal offices and Korea itself as much as other public relations media could do : Therefoe, effective use of parcel box could advertise national brand of Korea enough to develop and improve national images. Chapter 2 described definitions of parcel matter to help understand parcel postal packing and examined kinds of corrugated cardboard and its box that made parcel box. Chapter 3 examined values and formation of Korean materials to apply it to parcel box, and to discuss mordern development of the materials in accordance with intermationalization. Chapter 4 investigated cases of parcel boxes of postal office at home and abroad to find out problems of the parcel boxesof Korea. In this study, the parcel boxes were found to represent not only traditional things applied by Korean materials but also modern development reflecting viewpoints of forigners in accordance with internationalization. The auther applied 'SOBAN'(small dinner table) as well as 'SEKDONG'(stripes of many colors) of Korean materials to design of the parcel boxes to inform Korean beauty well and to make design of durable and practical use boxes. The auther hopes that the study would be of help Korea POST do international postal business and to find image improvement directions of Korea.
