The musicality of Bohuslav Martinu is far from establishing new music system or innovating the existing music system arisen in the 20th century, and it was mostly influenced by classical music especially, baroque counterpoint and the conventional concept of classical time. His compositional techniques were decisively influenced baroque music of the 18th century, that is, the music of Arcangelo Corelli, Antonio Vivaldi, etc., and he hardened his musicality based on simple melody, supple rhythm, dynamic, etc. originated from those. Namely, it correctly indicates Martinu's neoclassicism that completes the polyphony of the 20th century through adopting the formality of the 18th century. “First Sonata for Flute and Piano”, which is being centrally commented in this paper, also indicates the specific of Martinu's suchlike neoclassicism. As each movement is composed of exposition, development, recapitulation and coda, so it is clearly shown the specific of neoclassicism. that the harmony and rhythm of the 20th century are added to classical music. In the first movement (Allegro Moderato) of this work, such neoclassical melody and composition are shown. Likewise, the long melody, which is shown in the second movement (Adagio), indicates the characteristic of abstruse impressionism as he learned about full-scale composition in France. In particular, in the third movement (Allegro poco Moderato), the same-patterned melody is repeatedly shown. It shows the dynamic rhythm stated previously, that is, one of the specific of the 20th century.;
