C. Debussy Sonata for Violin and Piano의 연구 및 분석

Abstract

19세기 말에서 20세기 초에는 후기 낭만파의 음악 어법이 새로운 음악 언어로 변형되어 나타나는 시기였다. 이 시기에 활동했던 프랑스의 작곡가 Claude A. Debussy(1862~1918)는 인상주의 음악의 대표적 작곡가로, 인상주의 음악의 창시자인 동시에 완성자이다. 그는 전통적인 화음 진행이나 기능화성(functional harmony)의 법칙에서 벗어나 장·단조의 조성체계를 사용했으며, 중세의 선법과 동양의 음계 및 악기, 또한 소수 민족의 민속 음악에 관심을 갖으면서 음악의 재료와 어법을 확대했고, 이로써 그가 추구하던 ‘새로운 음향에 대한 탐구’가 이루어질 수 있었다. 이것이 곧 특정한 이미지나 분위기의 표현을 주요 목적으로 하는 그 당시 회화양식인 “인상주의”와 맞물린 것이다. 그가 남긴 단 한곡의 Violin Sonata인 이 작품은 전 3악장 구성으로 되어있다. 주제적, 조성적으로 연계되는 악장관계를 보여주며, 후기 낭만주의 시대에 애호 되었던 순환 주제적 구성이 응용 되었다. 장음계, 단음계가 주축을 이루고 부드럽고 동양적 성격을 띠는 선법, 5음 음계, 온음음계, 반음계진행이 전곡을 통하여 나타난다. 빠르기 변화, 강·약의 변화, 독특한 리듬분포 등이 특징이 된다. 이 곡은 고전적인 전통을 유지하면서 Debussy만의 독창적인 작품세계를 보여준다. 본 논문은 인상주의 음악의 선구자적 역할을 한 Debussy의 음악세계를 시대적 상황과 함께 알아보고 그의 Violin Sonata를 분석 연구하여 음악적 특징이 작품에 어떻게 표출되었는지 알아보고자 한다.;Post-Romanticism appeared a new Mode of Musical Language between the end of the 19th century and the early of the 20th century, Claude A. Debussy(1862~1918) was a representative composer of Impressionism. He was against the traditional rule of harmonic progression and functional harmony. He also avoided major-minor keys of the past. He was interested in the medieval mode, oriental scale and instruments, and folk music of minority race. These interests made him researched new sounds and enlarged musical materials and expressions. Instead of using chords, he focused on the sound itself and escaped from the tonality. Although he stood with contemporary composers, his musical idea and expression were very unique. The purpose of this thesis is to know the life and musical characteristics of Debussy by analyzing his violin sonata.
