비물질적 특성을 적용한 전시 공간 디자인

Abstract

The modern society has become more homogeneous and virtual one as the concept of time-space has transformed to the one of time-space-information, and the problem of reality has been raised as a result of facing information age. The modern society has also become more nonmaterial as the importance of personal emotion has increased, for example, the image of a thing is more valued than the thing itself. Those trend of nonmaterialization occurred in the space of modern architecture as well, therefore, this study was to propose a space reflecting a characteristic of modern time which is mobile and changing continuously, not the fixed concept of past, based on the above characteristic of space of modern architecture. The current exhibition space is a cultural space opened to public as well as a educational space and provides communication with history and various cultures. It plays also the role of local land-mark and a place of experience, therefore, induce participation of public and provides not only exhibition but also various programmes and events, resulting make it a complex cultural space with characteristic of complexity. This study was also to propose a design for cultural space which is capable of showing various programme and mobile flow of space using disappearance of boundary and expansion of space represented by immaterial characteristic, and of accepting various function of modern exhibition space. There have been many studies on the nonmaterial characteristic and space, however the application of nonmaterial characteristic to the exhibition has not been activated because of the spacial characteristic of public non-routine architectural space and of various limitation according to exhibited materials. The purpose of this study was to propose a exhibition space as a cultural continuum in which the function of exhibition is enhanced and culture is contained, by applying the nonmaterial characteristic of space to the exhibition space. The brief contents and format of this study are as follows:- In the first section, the background, purpose, scope, and methodology of this study are described. In the second section, the nonmaterial trend, and the concept and emerging background of nonmaterial are investigated by theoretical review on the concept of nonmaterial and exhibition space. There are another reviews on how the concept of space has been changed from past to modern age using the immaterial characteristic in accordance with the change of space concept, and on the concept and the characteristic of modern exhibition space in change. In the third section, the immaterial characteristics of space of modern architecture were reviewed and the types are summarized. The immaterial characteristics in exhibition space were analyzed based on cases and the application methods of those characteristics to space are summarized. In the fourth section, the immaterial characteristics drawn from previous processes are applied in selected site in order to propose a plan and design for a exhibition space in which more specific nonmaterial characteristic. In the fifth space, the results of this study are summarized and the significance and conclusion of this study are proposed. It was concluded, based on the processes and results of this study, as follows: - First, it was found that the nonmaterial characteristic provides an opportunity of experiencing more various space to space users, by eliminating boundary of space, expanding space combining various function of space organically, and creating diversity and newer images. Second, it was found that the modern exhibition space provides an opportunity of experience to audience using various inner and outer factors of exhibition, and the audience perceive and recognize the space on the whole by using inner space, exhibition and program, and various events as well as inner and outer environmental factors. Third, It was found that the exhibition effects are enhanced and more varioius experiences of space is provided to audience as a complex cultural space accepting complex functions when the nonmaterial characteristics of space are applied to exhibition space and the various functions of exhibition are accepted more harmoniously This study is a provision of a design of exhibition space in which the immaterial characteristic of space is applied, and is expected to propose a way of enhancing the effect of exhibition and of providing various experiences to users visiting a space by applying nonmaterial characteristics to exhibition space.;현대 사회는 시간-공간개념에서 시간-공간-정보의 개념으로 바뀌어 감에 따라 점점 더 균질화 되고 가상적인 형태로 변화하고 있으며 정보화 시대를 맞아 미디어의 발달로 인해 실재성(reality)의 문제가 대두되게 되었다. 또 현대 사회는 개인의 감성이 중요시 되면서 물체 자체보다 그 물체가 가지고 있는 이미지가 중시되는 등 점점 비물질화 되어 가고 있다. 현대의 건축공간에서도 이러한 비물질적 경향이 나타나고 있는데 이러한 현대 건축공간의 특성을 반영하여 과거의 고정적인 개념의 건축이 아닌 유동적이고 끊임없이 빠르게 변화하고 있는 시대의 특성을 반영한 공간을 제안 하고자 한다. 오늘날의 전시 공간은 대중에게 개방된 열린 문화공간으로서 교육의 공간이며 역사 및 다양한 문화가 소통하는 공간이다. 또 지역의 랜드 마크적 역할을 하며 대중의 참여를 유도하는 체험의 장소로서 전시뿐만 아니라 다양한 프로그램의 운영과 이벤트 등을 통해 복합적인 성격을 띠는 복합 문화공간이다. 비물질적 특성을 통해 나타나는 경계의 소멸과 공간의 확장으로 다양한 프로그램과 공간의 유동적 흐름을 보여주며 현대 전시공간의 다양한 기능을 수용할 수 있는 문화 공간을 디자인하며 이를 제안하고자 한다. 지금까지 비물질적(nonmaterial) 특성과 공간에 대한 연구는 많이 진행되고 있지만 전시 공간은 공공(公共)의 비일상적 건축공간이라는 공간의 특성과 전시물에 따른 여러 제약 때문에 비물질적 특성의 적용에 대한 논의가 활발히 진행되지 않았다. 본 연구는 공간의 비물질적 특성을 전시 공간에 적용하여 전시의 기능을 강화하고 문화가 흐르며 소통하는 문화의 연속체로서 전시 공간을 제안하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 내용과 구성을 간략하게 소개하면 다음과 같다. 제 1장에서는 연구의 배경과 목적을 서술하고 연구의 범위와 방법을 밝히고자 한다. 제 2장에서는 비물질의 개념과 전시 공간에 대한 이론적 고찰을 통해 현대 사회의 비물질적 경향과 공간에서 비물질의 개념 및 발현배경을 알아보고자 한다. 또 과거에서 현재에 이르기까지 공간에 대한 인식이 어떻게 변화되어 오고 있는지 공간 인식의 변화에 따른 비물질적 특성을 살펴보며 변화하는 현대 전시 공간의 개념 및 특성에 대해 고찰하고자 한다. 제 3장에서는 현대 건축공간의 비물질적 특성을 분석하고 그 유형을 정리한다. 또 이러한 내용을 바탕으로 사례를 통해 전시 공간에서의 비물질적 특성을 분석하고 공간에 적용 방안을 정리한다. 제 4장에서는 대상지를 선정하여 연구과정을 통해 도출한 비물질적 특성을 공간에 적용하여 보다 나은 비물질적 특성이 적용된 전시공간의 계획과 디자인을 제안하고자 한다. 제 5장에서는 연구의 내용을 종합하고 본 연구의 의의 제시 및 결론을 도출한다. 이러한 연구과정을 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 내릴 수 있었다. 첫째, 비물질적 특성은 공간의 경계를 허물고 공간을 확장하며 공간의 다양한 기능들을 유기적으로 연결하며 다양하고 새로운 이미지를 창조해내어 공간 사용자에게 보다 다채로운 공간 경험할 수 있게 한다는 것을 알았다. 둘째, 현대 전시공간은 공간 내·외부의 다양한 요소를 통해 관람자에게 경험을 제공하며 관람자는 내부 공간과 전시 및 프로그램이나 각종 이벤트 뿐아니라 내․외부의 환경적인 요소 들을 통해 공간을 총체적으로 지각(perception)·인지(cognition) 하게 한다는 것을 알았다. 셋째, 공간의 비물질적 특성을 전시공간에 적용하여 현대 전시 공간의 다양한 기능을 보다 원활하게 수용하며 전시의 효과를 높이고 복합기능을 수용하는 복합문화공간으로서 관람자에게 보다 다양한 공간의 경험을 제공하게 된다는 것을 알았다. 본 연구는 공간의 비물질적 특성을 적용한 전시 공간 디자인 제안으로 비물질적 특성을 전시 공간에 적용하여 공간을 방문하는 관람자에게 전시의 효과를 높이고 다양한 경험을 제공할 수 있도록 하고자 하며 이를 제시하는데 그 의의를 둔다.
