DBAE 이론에 기초한 미술수업이 학습동기와 학업성취도에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 기존의 전통적인 수업의 대안으로 고안된 DBAE(Discipline -Based Art Education) 이론을 미술수업에 적용하여 봄으로써, DBAE 이론에 기초한 미술수업이 중학생의 미술 학습동기와 학업성취도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구자는 DBAE의 개념과 배경, 교육 내용에 대한 이론을 알아보았고, 아울러 DBAE 이론에 기초한 미술수업을 진행함에 있어서 알아야 할 현 교육과정인 제7차 중학교 미술과 교육과정에 대하여 이론적인 고찰을 하였다. 이론적 배경을 바탕으로 DBAE 이론에 기초한 미술 교수-학습 지도안을 작성하였고, 2008년 7월 1일부터 18일까지 서울 등촌 중학교 3학년 62명을 대상으로 연구 수업을 진행하였다. 통제집단 31명에게는 전통적인 미술수업을 4차시에 걸쳐 진행하고, 실험집단 31명에게는 DBAE 이론에 기초한 미술수업을 7차시에 걸쳐 진행하여 두 집단의 학습동기와 학업성취도 결과를 비교하였다. 학습자의 학습동기와 미술 학업성취도(지식 이해력, 표현력, 감상력) 변화의 측정을 위해 사전-사후검사 통제집단설계(Protest-Posttest Control Group Design)에 기초하여 실험하였으며 실험결과는 t-검증을 통하여 통계 처리하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, DBAE 이론에 기초한 미술수업은 전통적 미술수업보다 학습자의 학습동기를 향상시키는데 효과적이었다. 둘째, DBAE 이론에 기초한 미술수업은 전통적 미술수업보다 학습자의 미술 지식 이해력을 향상시키는데 효과적이었다. 셋째, DBAE 이론에 기초한 미술수업은 전통적 미술수업보다 학습자의 미술 감상력를 향상시키는데 효과적이었다. 넷째, 미술 표현력 향상에는 DBAE 이론에 기초한 미술수업방법과 전통적 미술수업방법 사이에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 발견되지 않았다. 이러한 연구 결과로 볼 때 본 연구자가 시사하는 바는 미술교육의 변화를 모색할 필요가 있다는 점이다. 현 시대에는 예술을 즐기고, 다양한 예술적 소양을 갖춘 문화인의 양성이 요구된다. 이러한 시점에서는 표현중심의 미술교육에서 영역을 확장하여 이해와 감상을 포함하는 총체적인 교육이 필요하다. 미학, 미술사, 미술비평, 미술제작으로 구성된 DBAE 이론을 바탕으로 미술수업을 실시한다면, 미술 표현에 소질이 없는 학생들도 미술에 흥미를 가지고 미술의 이해와 감상을 통해 미적 안목을 키우고 미술을 향유할 수 있을 것이다. 그렇게 하기 위하여 교사들이 통합적이고 체계적인 미술교육의 필요성을 인식할 필요가 있으며, 미술교육현장에서 DBAE 이론에 기초한 수업 프로그램을 더욱 많이 개발하고 다양하고 흥미로운 미술수업을 학생들에게 제공할 수 있도록 노력을 기울여야 할 것이다.;The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the art class based on DBAE(Discipline-Based Art Education) upon academic motivation and achievement of the middle school students by applying DBAE theory to art class instead of traditional class. For this I researched on a general idea, historical background and educational contents, furthermore I considered the current 7th middle school art class curriculum as it is necessary for the art class based on DBAE. With theoretical background I developed teaching plan based on DBAE, and I applied it to 62 members of third graders of Deung-chon middle school in Seoul from July 1st, 2008 to July 18th, 2008. I took traditional art lesson to 31 students of the control group for 4 hours, and I took art lesson based on DBAE to 31 students of the experiment group for 7 hours, and then I compared academic motivation and achievement of both groups. To measure the change of academic motivation and achievement(the knowledge comprehensive faculty, the power of artistic expression , an appreciative power) the pretest-posttest control group design were employed, and the result of experiment was taken statistically by using analysis of t-test. The major findings were as follows. First, the art class based on DBAE was more effective than the raditional teaching program to enhance the academic motivations of the students. Second, the art class based on DBAE was more effective than the traditional teaching program to enhance the knowledge comprehensive faculty of the students. Third, the art class based on DBAE was more effective than the traditional teaching program to enhance an appreciative power of the students. Fourth, there was no difference between the art class based on DBAE and the traditional teaching program to improve the power of artistic expression of the students in art study. Based upon these findings I would suggest that the art education is needs to be changed. These days it is required to educate a cultured man enjoying art and having various artistic attainments. At this point, it is needed an overall education including comprehension and appreciation, which is extended from the expression-centered art education. If we teach the art class based on DBAE which is composed of aesthetics, art history, art criticism, and art production, even the students who don't have any good sense of art can feel interest in art and enhance an aesthetic sense through comprehension and appreciation of art. For this teachers should recognize the necessity of systematic and unitive art education. Various kinds of teaching program based upon the DBAE should be developed more in the fields of art education and we should try to introduce them to students.
