폴드(Fold)의 표현특성에 의한 감성적 디자인 연구

Abstract

현대의 우리나라 도시 개발은 도시 성장에 초점을 둔 개발 방식으로 인해 인간 소외 현상이 심화 되어 정신적·심리적 거리감이 커지고 도시 환경은 삭막해져 가고 있다. 이러한 과밀화·고층화 되어 있는 복잡한 도시 내 오픈 스페이스(Open Space)는 많은 도시민들에게 심신의 안정을 주고, 자연의 정취를 느낄 수 있는 유일하게 제공되는 공간이다. 그러므로 오픈 스페이스는 인간과 상호 작용에 중점을 둔 공간 계획요구 되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 오픈 스페이스(open space)에 감성적 개념을 적용하여 그 공간을 이용하는 사람에게 편리함 뿐 아니라 정서적 안정을 제공함으로써 기존의 딱딱하고 삭막한 도시 환경으로부터 사람과 소통할 수 있는 환경으로 변화 시키는데 기여하고자 한다. 이를 수행하기위해 1) 과밀화 고층화로 인해 삭막해진 도시 환경에서의 오픈 스페이스의 중요성을 강조하고, 2) 사람과 소통할 수 있는 공간으로서의 재구성을 위한 방법으로 과거 기계론적 세계관의 대안으로 나타난 비선형의 특징 중에서 폴드(fold)의 조형적 특징을 이용하여 감성적 공간디자인을 연구하는 과정으로 진행하였다. 본 내용과 구성은 다음과 같다. 제 1장 : 연구의 문제 제기, 목적, 범위 그리고 방법 등을 기술하였다. 제 2장 : 감성적 디자인의 개념과 감성적 공간의 의미를 분석하고 일반적인 Fold 개념과 건축적 특징을 알아보고, Fold의 조형적 특징에 따른 감성적인 특성들에 대해 분석하고 이에 따른 사례들을 비교 분석하여 fold를 통한 감성적 공간의 가능성을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 폴드(fold)의 조형적 원리들 중에 인간과의 관계성을 높일 수 있는 조형원리를 초점을 두어 토폴로지 와 부드러운 변형들로 분류하였다. 특히 토폴로지 변형은 세부적으로 연속성, 경계의 모호성, 내·외부 관계성으로 분류하여 분석하였다. 제3장 : 도시환경에서의 오픈 스페이스의 일반적 고찰을 통한 개념을 정리하고 그 문제점을 살펴봄으로서 공간을 통한 감성적 접근이 갖는 의의와 필요성을 제시 하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 적합한 대상지를 선정하여 문제점을 제시하고 폴드의 조형적 특성을 적용하여 감성적 공간의 구체적인 공간 계획과 분석, 디자인 적용의 작업을 통해 해결 방안을 제시하였다. 본 연구 과정을 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 도시의 물리적 환경은 오픈 스페이스의 역할에 따라 단순히 기능적인 공간을 넘어 사용자들에게 정서적 안정과 삶의 질을 높일 수 있는 환경을 제공할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 공간 계획 과정 시 대상지 주변 현황과 대상지 사용자들의 행태 분석을 통해 공간과 인간의 상호 관계성 중심으로 공간 계획이 가능해짐으로써 보다 더 사람과 소통할 수 있는 환경으로 발전할 수 있는 가능성을 기대 할 수 있었다. 셋째, 폴드(fold)의 위상 기하학적 변형(topological transformation)을 통해 공간과 공간의 관계 뿐 아니라 공간과 사람의 관계성을 높일 수 있었고, 폴드의 조형적 특성은 공간 이용자들에게 재미와 흥미를 유발시켜 공간을 보다 감성적으로 느낄 수 있게 유도하였다. 넷째, 폴드(fold)의 부드러운 변형(smooth transformation)은 공간의 자연스러운 변화와 다양한 입면(elevation) 변화를 가능하게 하였고, 이로 인해 단지 공간이용자들에게 기능적 만족뿐만 아니라 체험을 유도하고 시각적인 즐거움을 줌으로써 공간을 보다 감성적으로 느낄 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구는 도시 환경을 개선하기 위한 대한으로 인간의 감성을 초점으로 하여 디자인을 함으로써 도시 환경을 질적으로 높이는 데 기여를 하고자 하였고 이를 위해 인간의 정서적 안정과 삶의 질적 향상과 더불어 도시 환경 이미지 개선을 위해 그 연구 가치와 의의를 찾을 수 있다.;Currently, domestic city development is focused on growth, and as a result, people are becoming increasingly alienated and psychological distance from the environment is getting larger. Open spaces in complex cities with overpopulation and over stratification issues provide a unique environment which gives citizens stability in their mind and body and an opportunity to experience the feeling of nature. Thus, open spaces are demanded, where the importance of humans and interactions are stressed. The aim of this research is to use the emotion concept of open space to not only provide comfort, but to provide emotional safety, and to change a previously hard and bleak city environment to an environment that can communicate with humans. To accomplish these goals, 1) the importance of open spaces in overcrowded and over stratified cities are stressed; and 2) space should be reorganized into a form that communicates with humans by using the modeling characteristics of the Fold concept as an alternative to the past industrial view. The structure and contents of the thesis are as follows. Section 1: The research question, aims, scope and the methods are described. Section 2: Contains an analysis of the emotional design concept and examines the meaning of emotional space, the fold concept and its constructive characteristics. Also, Fold’s modeling characteristics and its emotional characteristics are compared through a case study, which resulted in the analysis of emotional spaces possible through the Fold concept. This research classified the modeling principles of the Fold concept which focuses on the interactions between humans, into topology and soft transformations. In particular, topology transformation was analyzed in detail, in terms of the dimensions of continuity, the ambiguity of boundaries and the relationship between internal and external relationships. Section 3: Organized and presented the standard understanding of the open space concept in urban environments and through the examination of problematic issues, provided the reasons for the need for and the meaning of open space. Finally, an appropriate target for this research was selected and after presenting problems facing the target, the modeling characteristics of the Fold concept was used to form a plan and analysis of the application of emotional space, and a solution through the application of design was presented. Through this research the following can be demonstrated. First, it can be shown that the physical environment of the city, through open spaces, can provide emotional safety and an increase in the quality of life than merely providing a functional space. Second, it can be shown that it is possible to plan a space which considers the interactions between humans and spaces through the analysis of the behavior of the people of the target area and its current condition, and consequently, it can be expected that progress will bring spaces which can communicate with humans. Third, through topological transformation in the Fold concept, not only can the relationships between spaces, but the relationship between spaces and people can be increased, and the modeling characteristics of the Fold concept can cause enjoyment and interest in users and change their experience from merely being in a space to an emotional experience of space. Fourth, through smooth transformation in the Fold concept, it is possible to have natural and dynamic elevation transformations, and through this, give not only functional satisfaction to users, but give visual enjoyment, and change their experience from merely being in a space to an emotional experience of space. The value and meaning of this research can be found in its aim to improve city environments, and aim to increase the quality of the urban environment through focusing on human considerations, specifically, emotional safety and an improvement of living standards, and at the same time, improve the image of the city’s environment.
