고등학교 일반사회와 역사 내용통합 방안

Abstract

This study presents a contents integrated model combining Social studies and History in high school. For this, I chose a 'punishment' unit in the 『Law and society』subject of the Social Studies and tried to combine this unit and historical contents. Therefore, This study aims to present a necessity of the integrated lecture in the Elective Curriculum so that, ultimately, it can contribute to develop the synthetically thinking ability for social phenomenon. For this purpose, I analyzed literature on the integrated pattern and management principle of Social Study Education and then analyzed integrated lecture focusing on Social Studies. Based on these theoretical background, I presented a contents integration combining Social Studies and History focusing on 'punishment' unit in the 『Law and society』subject of the Social Studies. This study examined the opinion of high school teachers of teaching Social Studies located at Kyoung-ki do, regarding on a contents integration combining Social Studies and History. Based on these opinions of teachers, I taught a contents integration, combining a 'punishment' unit in the 『Law and society』subject of the Social Studies and History, to 2nd grades, 1 class, at Tae-jang high school in Su-won city. and then, For figure out it's efficiency, I compared educated group of contents integration with not educated group of it by same testing. And, I received 3 Social Studies teachers' evaluation who made a visit to contents integrated lecture. Result of this study can be analyzed as follow : First, By learning historical change process of the punishment, students can learn about a various law system people have had in the society. And, It makes them various and profound view point that students learn historical punishment system than only modern punishment system. These education of historical punishment system have students to comprehend the society synthetically. The teaching of punishment's historicity makes not stiff and busy memorizing but interesting and curious 'Law class'. It can expect that a contens integration combining Social Studies and History in the Elective Curriculum makes students deeping learning in Law class. Second, Many studies about integrated lecture of Social Studies Education has been progressed between 3rd and 10th grade, The Basic Curriculum of General Nation Grade in the 7th National Curriculum. In order word, These studies are all for The Basic Curriculum of General Nation Grade. But, This study is for a contents integration combining Social Studies and History in the Elective Curriculum, laying focus on the realm of Social Studies. Therefore, This study presents new integrated model. But, In the course of study, I found some matters to be attended to. First, Many teachers of Social Studies have not been received integrating education so that it is difficult to expect their professional integrated instruction. Therefore, For teacher professional development and the development of more effective instruction, it is necessary for teachers of the realm between Social studies and History to talk over integrated instruction fully and to active an teacher training institute. Second, Integrated instruction can be a burden on students because of many learning contents. In addition, Pertinent grade choosing 『Law and Society』subject is 2nd or 3rd grade at high school level. Considering a actual education concentrating on a university entrance examination, Integrated instruction can be a burden on taking lesson time. Therefore, Teachers have to prepare scrupulously before integrated instruction.;본 연구는 고등학교 일반 사회 영역을 중심으로 역사 내용과의 주제 중심의 통합 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해 선택 중심 교육과정 상의 일반사회 교과인 『법과 사회』의 ‘형벌’ 단원을 선정해 이를 역사 내용과의 통합을 하였다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 고등학교 일반 사회 영역과 역사 내용간의 통합 방안을 제시함으로써 선택 중심 교육과정에서의 통합의 필요성을 제시하고, 궁극적으로는 두 영역간 통합 학습을 통해 사회 현상을 종합적으로 사고하는 능력을 함양하는 데 기여할 수 있음을 파악하는 데 있다. 이를 위해서 본 연구에서는 이론적 배경으로 사회과 교육과정 통합 유형과 사회과 수업에서 영역 간의 통합 운영 원리와 모형에 대해 살펴보았다. 그리고 본 연구에서 다루고자 하는 일반사회 영역 중심의 통합교육에 대해서도 살펴 보았다. 이를 바탕으로 ‘형벌’이라는 주제를 중심으로 일반사회 영역과 역사 영역 간의 통합 수업안을 제시하였다. 본 연구에서는 일반사회 영역과 역사 영역 간의 통합 수업에 관한 교사들의 의견을 듣고자 교사설문을 실시한 후, 이를 바탕으로 수원시 태장고등학교 2학년 학생들을 대상으로 『법과 사회』의 ‘형벌’단원과 역사 내용간의 통합 수업을 실시하였다. 그리고 통합 수업의 효과성을 파악하기 위해 형성 평가를 실시하여 두 집단 간 결과를 비교하였다. 또한 통합 수업에 참관한 일반사회 교사 3명에게 통합 수업에 대한 평가를 받았다. 이 연구를 통해서 얻게 된 점을 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 형벌의 역사적 변천과정을 통해 인간이 사회 속에서 어떠한 법 체제를 갖고 살아왔는가를 학습할 수 있다. 그리고 이러한 역사성을 띈 ‘형벌 제도’의 이해는 현대의 형벌 제도만 학습하는 것보다 더 깊이 있고 다양한 시각을 갖게 하며 형벌을 통해 사회를 종합적으로 이해하는 시각도 기를 수 있었다. 또한 형벌의 역사성에 대한 수업을 통해 딱딱하고 외우기에만 급급한 법 수업이 아닌 학생들의 흥미와 호기심을 유발할 수 있는 법 수업 시간으로 만들 수 있으며, 선택중심교육과정 내에서 역사 내용과의 통합을 통해 심화 학습도 기대할 수 있다. 둘째, 7차 교육과정에서 3학년부터 10학년까지를 국민공통기본교육과정으로 정하여 이 단계에서의 통합에 대한 연구는 많이 진행되었다. 그러나 본 연구는 선택중심교육과정 단계에서의 일반사회 영역을 중심으로 역사 영역 과의 통합 방안을 마련하였다. 이는 기존에 연구되지 않은 선택중심교육과정에서의 새로운 통합 사례이다. 그러나 본 연구자는 연구 과정에 몇 가지 유의점을 발견하였다. 첫째, 대부분의 일반사회 교사들이 통합교육을 받지 않았기 때문에 역사 수업 내용과 통합한 수업을 구성할 때 전문성이 떨어질 수 있다. 따라서 교사 전문성을 향상시키기 위해 사회과의 각 교과 영역 교사간의 교과 협의나 교사 연수의 활성화 등이 요구된다. 둘째, 통합수업을 하게 되면 수업 내용의 양이 많아 학생들이 부담을 느낄 수 있다. 더구나 법과 사회 교과를 채택하고 있는 해당 학년이 고등학교 2~3학년이기에 입시 위주의 수업으로 진행되는 현실에서 통합수업을 진행할 경우의 수업 시수 부담을 느낄 수 있다. 따라서 통합수업을 계획할 때 교사는 수업 이전에 꼼꼼히 설계하고 준비해야 한다.
