디지로그 시대의 화조화를 응용한 패턴 디자인

Abstract

21세기의 가장 큰 화두는 정보화 시대를 대표하는 IT산업(Information Technology industry)의 주요 테마인 디지털(Digital)이다. 컴퓨터 기술과 네트워크(Network) 기술의 혁신적인 발전에 의해 주도 되어온 디지털은 기술적인 측면을 넘어 과학과 예술, 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화 전반의 체계를 풍요롭게 바꾸어 가고 있다. 이러한 디지털이 가져다주는 새롭고 편리한 풍요로움은 분명 인간의 삶의 질을 높이고 생활의 편리함을 증진시켜 어느 시대보다 우월하게 만들어주었지만 그와 동시에 디지털이 채워 줄 수 없는 감성적이고 따뜻한 인간적인 부분을 그리워하여 기계적인 것에서 인간적인 것으로 돌아가려는 움직임이 나타나게 된 것도 사실이다. 이어령 교수는 1988년 서울올림픽 이후 문화적 관점에서 디지털(Digital)과 아날로그(Analog)의 합성어인 디지로그(Digilog)를 언급하기 시작하며 차갑고 딱딱한 디지털의 세계관과 부드럽고 유연한 세계관인 아날로그가 서로 융합 되어야만 미래의 패러다임(Paradigm)을 발견하거나 세울 수 있다고 주장했다. 다시 말해, 디지털과 아날로그는 개념상 대립되는 의미를 갖고 있지만 현 시대는 이 두 측면이 서로 대립되는 상태로 있는 것이 아니라, 공존하며 조화를 이루어 나아간다. 특히 사회에 있어서 디자인의 중요성이 높아짐에 따라 디지털 디자인 속에 아날로그적 감성을 제시하여 새로운 가치를 만들어내고 소비자들의 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있도록 노력하고 있다. 또한 최근의 디자인 경향에서 동양적인 오리엔탈풍이 인기를 끌고 있으며 과거 문화를 통해 현대 문화를 새롭게 재창조하는 복고열풍이 일어나고 있다. 이에 본 연구자는 이러한 경향을 바탕으로 아날로그 감성을 표현하는데 우리 민족의 미의식과 생활 감정이 반영되어 있는 표현물인 화조화(花鳥畵)를 응용하여 패턴 디자인을 제시해 보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 디지로그의 개념을 고찰하였다. 둘째, 디지로그 시대에 나타나는 문화적 현상들을 사례를 통해 분석하였다. 셋째, 작품제작을 위해 민화와 화조화에 대한 이론을 조사하였다. 넷째, 화조화에 나타난 꽃과 새의 이미지를 모티브로 삼아 디자인함으로써 아날로그적인 감성을 적용시키고 디지털 프린팅(Digital Printing)기법으로 디지로그 시대가 요구하는 현대적인 감각의 넥타이 디자인을 연구하였다. 이러한 연구 과정을 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시대의 흐름과 디지로그 시대의 디자인적인 요구의 이해를 통해서 디지로그적 디자인이 개발될 수 있음을 발견하게 되었다. 둘째, 인간의 감성적인 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있는 화조화의 꽃과 새의 일부분을 모티브로 정하고 이를 재해석하고 패턴화하여 디자인에 접목시킴으로써 실용성, 장식성, 독창성에 정신적 욕구의 충족 가능성까지 겸비한 디자인을 전개 할 수 있었다. 셋째, 디지털 프린팅을 적용하여 기존의 날염 프린팅에서 표현할 수 없었던 표현 양식들을 새로운 디자인으로 표현하였고 복잡한 생산 공정 과정을 모두 컴퓨터로 처리하여 작업의 정확성과 시간의 효율성을 높일 수 있음을 알게 되었다. 또한, 소량생산의 희소성 있는 디자인을 연구･제시함으로써, 실용성과 작품성을 모두 갖춘 고부가가치 상품의 개발 가능성을 제시 할 수 있었다. 넷째, 디자인 전개에 있어 시대가 요구하는 현대적 넥타이 디자인 상품의 개발을 통해 디지로그 시대를 위한 디자인의 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다.;The main theme of information technology industries in the information era is a digital, which is the biggest topic of the 21st century. The digital has been led by innovative development of computer and network technology and has changed richly the whole system of science, art, politics, economy, society and culture over the technologies. Part of this new and convenient affluence was that it improved the quality of our lives and the convenience of life to make us feel superior. But still, it made us miss the sensitive, warm, and personal parts, which couldn't be met by itself, and then made us tick from mechanical to human things. A professor, Yee Eyr-Ryong asserts that in cultural term, a digilog which is a compound word of digital and analog has set to be mentioned since the Olympic game Seoul 1988, and that given the fusion between a cold and hard digital world view and a soft and tender analog one, a future paradigm can be developed or established. In other words, the digital and analog concept have opposing meanings, but nowadays these parts are not opposing but coexist and stand with each other. Especially in society, with importance of a design, analog sensitivity is suggested in a digital design to make a new value and meet the customer's desire. Additionally, in recent design trend, an oriental style catches popularity and a reactionism is all the rage to recreate the modern culture through the past. Thus, based on these, I would suggest some pattern designs to represent an analog sensitivity, applying the flower and bird painting which is an presentation reflecting the aesthetic sense and the life emotion of our nation. This study is followed: First, a concept of digilog is considered. Second, some cultural phenomenon in the digilog era are analyzed through the cases. Third, theories on the folk painting and the flower and bird painting are studied for execution. Forth, analog sensitivity is applied by designing some flowers and birds in the painting as a motive, and designs of modern ties by a digital printing, demanded in digilog era, is studied. The results gained from this course are followed: First, it is found that given the stream of times and the understanding design needs of digilog era, a digilog design can be developed. Second, some flowers and birds of the paintings, which can meet the emotional needs of human, are designated as motives, reinterpret and pattern to integrate the design, and can be developed to be a design combining utility, fanciness, originality, and satisfaction of spiritual desire. Third, it is found that the forms of expression which couldn't be represented by existing textile printing but by applying a digital printing can be a new design, and that work-accuracy and time-efficiency can increase by computerizing all of complex product lines. Also, developmental possibility of high-quality products which get both utility and artistry can be indicated by studying and suggesting a scarce design with low-volume products. Forth, the possibility of designs for the digilog era is suggested by developing products with modern tie design of the needs of this time in design process.
