장욱진 회화를 응용한 패션디자인 연구

Abstract

In the Koreanmodern society, many fields are rapidly changing in order to take part in globalization, overcoming the past frame of industrial society, and in the age of informationalization and globalization, design is appearing as an important factor to raise global competitiveness. As design stands for a national culture visibly and represents native cultural identity and originality, establishment of traditional value and national identity is regarded as important more than ever. Therefore, in the field of fashion, it is necessary to develop a design to indicate clearly our traditional value and national identity. Although JANG Uk-Jin is evaluated as a painter accomplishing Korean and national style of painting, with his own unique view of painting. JANG Uk-Jin’s works grasped the characteristics of Korean emotion in the midst of indiscreet Western trend, in a transition period of modern arts, and tried recreating Korean beauty to show Korean identity clearly. Attempts to apply artist’s painting to fashion design have been continually conducted, but actively by foreign artists rather than internal ones. In the foregoing aspect, it’s necessary to connect the esthetic property shown in JANG Uk-Jin’s painting to the modern fashion design. Objectives of this study are as follows. First, to analyze the esthetic property of JANG Uk-Jin’s painting through examination of JANG Uk-Jin’s painting trend by the times, and Korean motive and emotional expression. Second, to reflect the esthetic property of Korean paintings to the domestic fashion design of which inherent identity is threatened by rapid globalization, through adapting seized esthetic property to the modern fashion design Third, to propose a possible field of original expression through development of fashion materials with rich quality, by connecting felt technique that is deemed most appropriate for reproducing expression skill shown in JANG Uk-Jin’s painting into fashion design. This study analyzed the property of JANG Uk-Jin’s painting by the times, as a theoretical background, and the esthetic property of his painting as to Korean motive and emotional expression method. In addition, as to literature examination for applying JANG Uk-Jin’s works to fashion design, it examined cases of fashiondesign applying Korean paintings through books, internet and fashion-related periodicals. As to expression skills, concept and technique of felt have been examined, along with cases of fashion design applying felt, in order to effectively adapt characteristics of felt and expression skills to works. Based on it, fashion design works have been produced by applying esthetic property of JANG Uk-Jin’s eight paintings. This study has reached the following conclusions. First, by analyzing native materials, world of Korean innocence of one’s childhood, animals with Korean emotion, Buddhist and literary world, lines, colors, spatial composition, and figurative property of coding of JANG Wook Jin’s paintings, and by applying Korean motives to fashion design, it was capable to harmonize fashion and painting, and to confirm that Korean paintings including JANG Wook Jin’s works contain infinite potential as a creative motive of fashion design. Second, Major colors of works were the five primary colors, blue, red, black, white and yellow, used for folk paintings, along with warm and middle-toned colors such as red, ocher and green. And harmony of a complementary color contrast was stressed to be applied. In addition, it was able to show our hear-warming emotions in fashion design, by applying Korean natural colors and native color image to the fashion. Third, felt’s warm and flexible quality property is good to express combination of colors and motive’s form. It was appropriate to picturize native motives shown on JANG Wook Jin’s paintings, such as trees, birds, cows, houses and people, and Korean motives of the child’s innocence, such as son, moon, trees, child, houses and birds, and animal motives of Korean emotions, such as dog, cow, hen, tiger and magpie. Fourth, Pictorial expression with rich color sense through color composition by overlapped felt, and warm quality, were fitting for expressing Koreanemotions contained in JANG Wook Jin’s paintings. This study attempted fashion design adapting Korean motive, simultaneously with combining painting with artistic factor, by applying JANG Uk-Jin’s painting which showed Korean and national emotion to fashion design. In order for these works to setup inherent beauty of Korean fashion and maintain long-term marketability, not just a temporary attempt, Korean design based on global sense and various application methods of Korean factors should be studied continually.;현대의 한국사회는 국내의 여러 분야에서 과거 산업사회의 틀을 벗어나 세계화에 동참하기 위해 급격히 변화하고 있고, 미래의 정보화와 세계화의 상황에서 디자인이 국제 경쟁력을 높일 수 있는 중요한 요소로 등장하고 있다. 디자인은 이를 생산하는 나라의 문화를 가시적으로 표상하여 자국의 문화적인 정체성과 독창성을 나타내므로 전통적 가치관과 민족적 정체성의 확립이 그 어느 때보다도 중요시된다. 그리하여 패션에 있어서도 우리의 전통적 가치관과 민족적 정체성을 뚜렷이 나타낼 수 있는 디자인개발이 필요하다. 장욱진은 자신만의 독특한 회화관을 가지고 한국적이고 민족적인 정서의 화풍을 이룩한 화가로 평가 받고 있다. 장욱진의 작품들은 근대미술과 현대미술의 과도기였던 무분별한 서구 사조의 틈바구니 속에서 한국적 정서의 특질을 파악하여 한국미를 재발견하여 창조하고자 노력하여 한국적 정체성을 뚜렷이 나타내고 있다. 지금까지 화가의 회화작품을 패션디자인에 응용하는 시도는 끊임없이 이루어져왔지만, 국내화가보다는 해외 화가의 작품이 보다 적극적으로 이루어져왔다. 따라서, 우리의 전통적 가치관과 민족적 정체성을 가진 패션디자인개발을 위해 장욱진의 회화에서 나타나는 미적 특징을 현대 패션디자인과 접목시켜 볼 필요가 있다. 본 연구의 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 장욱진의 시대별 회화 세계, 소재와 표현에 대한 고찰을 통하여 장욱진 회화의 모티브를 향토적 소재와 한국적 동심의 세계, 한국적 정서의 동물소재, 전통적인 회화요소로 불교적, 문인화적 세계, 이 네 가지로 나누어 미적특성을 분석하고 선, 색채, 공간구도, 기호화의 조형적 특징을 분석한다. 둘째, 파악된 미적 특성과 조형적 특성들을 현대 패션디자인에 응용함으로써 급격한 세계화로 고유의 정체성을 위협 받고 있는 국내 패션디자인에 한국적 회화의 미적특성을 투영시킨다. 셋째, 장욱진 회화에서 보여지는 표현기법을 패션디자인으로 재현함에 있어 가장 적합한 표현이 가능하다고 판단되는 펠트기법을 접목시켜 연구함으로써 풍부한 질감의 소재를 개발하여 독창성 있는 표현영역을 확대하고 예술적인 패션디자인의 가능성을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법은 이론적 배경으로서 장욱진 회화의 시대별 특징, 소재와 표현에 대한 장욱진 회화의 미적특성을 분석하였다. 또한, 장욱진 작품의 패션디자인 적용을 위한 문헌고찰로 한국화를 응용한 패션디자인 사례를 단행본, 인터넷, 패션관련 정기간행물을 통해 살펴보았다. 표현기법으로 펠트의 개념 및 기법에 대해 고찰하고, 펠트의 특성과 표현기법을 작품에 효과적으로 응용하기 위해 펠트를 응용한 패션디자인 사례를 단행본, 인터넷, 패션관련 정기간행물을 통해 살펴보았다. 이를 바탕으로 총 8점의 장욱진 회화의 미적특성을 응용한 패션디자인 작품을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 장욱진 회화의 향토적 소재, 한국적 동심의 세계, 한국적 정서의 동물소재, 불교적, 문인화적 세계와 선, 색채, 공간구도, 기호화의 조형적 특징을 분석하여 한국적 모티브들을 패션디자인의 모티브로 응용함으로써 패션과 회화의 조화를 추구할 수 있었고, 장욱진 회화를 비롯한 한국회화가 패션디자인의 창조적 모티브로서 무한한 가능성을 내포하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 작품의 색채는 민화에서 사용되는 푸른색, 붉은색, 검정색, 흰색, 노란색의 오원색과 붉은색, 황토색, 초록색의 따스한 중간 톤의 색채를 주조색으로 사용하였으며 보색대비 조화를 강조하여 활용하였다. 또한 우리나라 자연의 색과 향토적인 색채이미지를 패션에 응용함으로 따뜻하고 정감적인 우리 고유의 정서를 패션디자인에 표현할 수 있었다. 셋째, 펠트의 따뜻하고 유연한 질감의 특성은 색채의 결합과 회화의 모티브 형태감을 표현하기에 용이하여 장욱진 회화의 나무, 새, 소, 집, 사람 등의 향토적 모티브와 해, 달, 나무, 아이, 집, 새 등의 한국적 동심의 모티브, 개, 소, 닭, 호랑이, 까치 등의 한국적 정서의 동물 모티브를 회화적으로 표현하기에 적합하였다. 넷째, 펠트 소재의 중첩에 의한 색채구성을 통한 풍부한 색감의 회화적 표현과 따뜻한 재질감은 장욱진의 회화에 내포되어 있는 한국적 정서를 표현하기에 적합하였다. 본 연구는 한국적이고 민족적인 정서의 화풍을 보여주었던 장욱진 회화를 패션디자인에 응용함으로써 회화와 패션의 예술적 요소를 결합시키는 동시에 한국의 정체성이 내재된 모티브를 활용한 패션디자인을 시도하였다. 세계시장에서 한국패션의 고유미를 구축하며 장기적인 시장성이 유지될 수 있도록 글로벌 감각이 바탕이 된 한국적 모티브의 다양한 활용방법이 계속 연구되었으면 한다.
