덩굴식물 이미지를 응용한 예술 의상 디자인연구

Abstract

Nature has always been a subject of new artistic expression for human beings, since men began depicting objects, due to its own harmonious order and limitless changes. As being impressed by inherent vitality and nature has been a subject of expression, human beings have showed their intention to create and express new beauty intended for nature, inspired by changing natural phenomenon. Showing vitality in beauty is one of artistic expression methods pursued by lots of artists ,and aground of artistic creation see king for natural beauty. For such artistic expression, most of artists have been long using nature as a subject matter, accordingly, this study intended to utilize shapes of a winder as a motive of work, by finding out quality and formative beauty from its various shapes. This study is aimed at proposing possibility of rich artistic expression, setting formative characteristics of a winder as a motive, connecting to various handicraft-like expression skills such as dapple, pleats and pin-tuck, for original fabric expression utilizing dyeing in expression skills, and showing unique quality and formative beauty. This study examined literatures to look for designs applying class, characteristics and shapes of winder, and an alyzed general consideration of surface quality and work cases applying quality through home and abroad literatures and picture data. Based on it, totally eight suits of clothes were produced. It is meaningful to develop formative property through expression skills and methods, in the process of reforming shapes of winder and introducing them to clothes. In the process of manu facturing, handicraft-like and decorative effect was pursued through appropriate expression skills such as pleats, dapple and tuck which give surface active quality as a winder image expression method, and natural beauty was added by expressing plant’s inherent colors, through usage of natural materials easy to dye, such as handwoven silk, mesh silk, silk nobang, and gauze. The study reached the following conclusions. First, in the modern society that becomes gradually heartless and industrialized, men are pursuing more natural beauty, and clothing design with a natural motive can be a significant medium delivering natural beauty. Second, natural subject provides limitless shaped ideas, amid which a winder, motive, changes various shapes, at the same time, when applying them to the modern clothing, formative property of a winder has more improved esthetical beauty, as a design material. A design with natural material is recreate dasa new shape, seeking for originality, escaping from simple imitation and modification, with an artist’s subjective intention intervened, and keeps more improved esthetical beauty. Third, changing, reassembling and applying shapes of winder to clothing, according to the artist’s subjective intention, were proper to express more vivid and figurative beauty. Fourth, various handicraft-like expression skills such as dyeing, pleats, dapple and tuck used for work, were proper to express formative property of winder, as a clothing material with rich surface quality. Since natural materials such as silk nobang, mesh silk and gauze are easy to dye, they are appropriate clothing materials for expressing quality of winder, with rich color sense. Consequently, diversification of motive and skills which might be introduced to clothing may pursue original formative world and improve various expression for artistic clothing. In addition, this study intended to show that design for modern clothing combining utility and artistic value might be advanced into the field with new value, by change and reassembly, focusing on formative property of natural shape and new quality expression.;자연에 대한 관심은 그 자연 속에 숨어있는 미적인 가치와 원리를 발견할 수 있게 하며 예술분야의 무한한 소재로서 개성적인 표현과 창조적인 사고에 바탕이 되고 있다. 인간은 자연의 내재된 생명력에 감동을 받고 변화하는 자연 현상 속에서 영감을 받으며 자연을 대상으로 새로운 미를 창조하고 표현하려는 의지를 보여 왔다 자연은 인간이 사물을 묘사하기 시작한 이래로 현대에 이르기까지 그 자체가 지닌 조화로운 질서와 무궁무진한 변화로 인해 인간에게 항상 새로운 예술적 표현의 소재가 되어왔다. 과거로부터 현재까지 자연의 형태에서 조형적인 요소를 찾아 형상화 하려는 노력이 이어지고 있고 그 중에서 식물의 형태는 다양한 조형예술의 표현 양식으로 형상화 하는 주제로 많이 응용되고 있다. 특히 꽃과 잎, 열매, 덩굴줄기 등이 포함된 식물은 자연의 그 어떤 대상보다도 인간에게 가장 가까운 대상이며 삶을 살아가는데 필요한 의식주는 물론 정서와 활력을 갖게 해주는 요소이다. 지금까지 식물을 대상으로 하는 의상 디자인 연구가 있어 왔으나, 주로 꽃,잎 등에 한정되었음에 따라 본 연구는 덩굴식물에 주목하여 이를 의상 디자인으로 연구하고자 하였다. 즉, 덩굴 식물의 조형적인 특징을 모티브로 하여 풍부한 예술적 표현의 가능성을 제시하고 이를 통해 보다 아름다운 예술 의상 디자인을 창출하여 의상디자인 표현 영역을 확대하는데 연구 목적이 있다. 연구의 내용 및 방법은 문헌고찰을 통하여 덩굴 식물의 구조와 기능, 식물을 응용한 현대 의상디자인을 살펴 보았으며, 덩굴식물의 조형적 특징과 덩굴식물 이미지를 응용한 의상디자인 작품사례를 조사하였다. 또한 예술 의상의 개념과 특성에 대해 알아보았으며, 예술 의상을 자연적 이미지, 민속적(원시적) 이미지, 사회적 이미지, 미래적 이미지에 따라 분류하였다, 그리고 예술 의상에서 나타난 식물 이미지를 응용한 작품사례를 국내외 문헌과 사진자료를 통하여 조사하였다. 의상 작품은 이론적 연구 결과에 근거하여 선정한 덩굴 식물의 형태와 색감을 중심으로 총 8점을 제작 하였으며 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 점점 인공적인 생산물에 의하여 구성되고 있는 현대인의 삶 속에서 인간은 더욱 자연미를 추구하고 이에 식물을 모티브로 한 의상 표현은 식물의 아름다움을 전달하는 중요한 전달 매체가 될 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 식물은 무한한 형태의 아이디어를 제공하고, 그중 본 연구의 모티브인 덩굴식물은 다양하게 형태를 변형함과 동시에 이를 의상에 적용함에 있어서 조형성은 디자인 소재로서, 더 발전된 미적가치를 가지게 됨을 알 수 있었다. 식물을 소재로 한 디자인은 단순한 모방과 변형의 단계에서 벗어나 예술가의 주관적인 의지가 개입된 독자성을 추구함에 따라 새로운 형태로 재창조 되고, 그럼으로써 더 발전된 미적 가치를 가지게 됨을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 덩굴식물의 형태는 작가의 주관적 의지에 따라 변화, 재조합 하여 의상에 적용함으로써 보다 생동감 있는 조형적 아름다움을 표현하기에 적절하였다. 넷째, 작품에 사용한 염색, 주름, 홀치기, 터크 등 다양한 표현기법은 풍부한 의상소재로 표현하기 위한 방법으로 적합하였고, 실크노방 메쉬 실크, 거즈 등의 자연소재는 염색이 용이하여 풍부한 색감을 표현하여 덩굴식물의 조형성 표현에 적합한 소재임을 알 수 있었다. 다섯째, 예술 의상이라는 표현양식은 다른 분야 예술과 비교하여 역사가 길다고 볼 수 없으나, 다양한 소재, 기법들에 의한 작업이 가능하며 표현범위가 넓으므로 무한한 발전이 가능할 것으로 생각된다. 이와 같이 의상에 도입할 수 있는 모티브와 기법의 다양화는 독창적인 조형세계를 추구하는 예술 의상의 다양한 표현성을 향상 시킬 수 있을 것이다. 또한 식물의 조형적 요소들은 변화와 재조합에 의해 예술 의상에 있어서 표현기법의 개발로 조형적 표현영역이 점차 확대된다면, 조형예술 측면에서도 발전적인 형상이 될 것이며 패션디자인(Fashion Design) 영역에도 확대되어 질적인 향상을 이룰 수 있을 것이다.
