This thesis has closely examined that Genesis 2-3 are the narratives with mythological elements from feminist theological perspective. Traditionally, the Bible has been literally interpreted and generalized as historical facts. Genesis 2-3, which were interpreted in such a manner, have been understood as the texts prescribing female's inferiority, and subordination. However, Genesis 2-3 are the narratives written with a theological intention, according to a historical criticism method. This study, based on religio-historical studies and historical criticism, criticized Genesis 2-3 from a feminist theological perspective. And this study intends to identify that Genesis 2-3 are theological statements reflecting the social circumstance during the time when Genesis 2-3 were written. Above all, there are a lot of mythological elements in Genesis 2-3. Garden of Eden, tree of life, the tree of knowledge of good and evil, a serpent, a cherubim and a flaming sword appeared in Genesis 2-3 are the mythological elements, which could also be found in the mythologies of Ancient Near East. The Garden of Eden is a paradise in the beginning of the world equivalent to “Dilmun” of Sumerian mythology. Tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil are the mythological elements that give humans eternal life and wisdom. The serpent was a god-like figure in Ancient Near East. The serpent in Sumerian mythology was a good god of the other world named "Ningishzidda." In addition, the serpent was a goddess representing wisdom, abundance and fertility. The cherubim was a half-beast and half-human mythological animal similar to the Egyptian Sphinx and the flaming sword mythologized the lightning. In the mythologies of the Ancient Near East, there are stories similar to the narrative of Creation in Genesis 2, and the narrative of Corruption in Genesis 3. The former could be found in Sumerian mythology or "The Epic of Atrahasis". Besides, the fact that women were created from the ribs of men was similar to the Sumerian mythology, in which Ninhursang created a goddess from Enki's ribs. The latter could be found also in the Adapa Myth. The primeval person who lived peacefully in the mountain of God committed a sin by disobeying the command of God and he was expelled from the mountain of God. The primeval person could obtain knowledge owing to his disobedience to God, but he did not possess eternal life. This is because the editor of Genesis 2-3 borrowed the mythologies of the Ancient Near East. However, the editor of Genesis 2-3 did not just borrow the Ancient Near East's mythologies, but theologically adapted them to be in line with the faith of Israel. The editor of Genesis 2-3 confessed that the creator of the heavens and the earth is the only God, by de-divinizing the serpent, which symbolizes a god in the Ancient Near East's mythologies, as a mere animal and Eve, as a mere human being. In addition, the editor of Genesis 2-3 explains that there only remains pain and death for whom broke off relations with God etiologically. What the editor intended to say in Genesis 2-3 was the severance from God, due to human's sins. The reason that Genesis 2-3 played the role of females down so much was that the story was a androcentric mythology generated from the patriarchal society. In addition, the exclusion against the Canaanite goddess enabled one to describe the serpent and Eve representing the goddess as negatively. In conclusion, female's inferiority and subordination set forth in Genesis 2-3 reflect the patriarchal society in the era when the editor lived. Accordingly, the inferiority and subordination of females demonstrated in Genesis 2-3 are not the created order of God, and thus the suppression of women is wrong.;성서의 이야기는 대부분 여성에 관해 호의적이지 않다.
