Abstract
The purposes of this study were preparing the basic data for upgrading the skills, preventing injuries and effective training of Port de bras. The contractions of deltoid and trapezius in the performanace of Port de bras, were studied using anlysis of E.M.G. amplitude. The experiments were performed with four subjects two of them were skilled students and others were unskilled students. The E.M.G. amplitudes of the deltoid and trapezius were measured in three Port de bras and the data were analysed for each of five arm position, 'en bas', 'en avant', 'en haut', 'a` la seconde' and 'bras d'attitude'. The results were as follows. 1. The E.M.G. amplitudes of the deltoid and trapezius of 'bras d'attitude', which was asymmetric position, were the highest. According to this it had shown that muscle force was largest in that position. 2. The difference of E.M.G. amplitudes between skilled and unskilled subjects in 'en haut', 'a` la seconde' and 'bras d'attitude' were larger than those in 'en bas' and 'en avant'. From these results, it had shown that the former positions required more skills than the others. 3. It had shown in the analysis of E.M.G. of skilled and unskilled subjects that the accurate arm movement in ballet was dependent on appropriate muscle force during arm movement.
