웹타이포그래피 활용에 대한 연구

Abstract

The World Wide Web creates many new challenges for typography. In Web interface, selection criteria for valuable typography are uncertain that implementation of typography system and selection criteria for Web features are important matters. Web typography puts emphasis on harmonizing with other graphic elements. Typography can be the theme-topic Web interface as sole graphic design and carry out different supportive works explaining and guiding other graphic elements. Websites are organic combinations of various components. Though various technical aspects such as planning, design, repair and maintenance should be considered according to the purpose of websites, of interfaces. The most efficient and clear means to deliver information are letters and pictures. Furthermore, the readability and harmonization are the most important factors for typography of user interface and web design. Determining selection criteria for quality typography in web design, which are clear layout to deliver idea, coherent graphic style, harmonization of typography using grid, unified coloring and typography, are necessary to monitor environments. Therefore, the present thesis aims at analyzing the background of web based typographies through reviewing the literature and previous research, comparing them in terms of visual modeling principles and visualization methods, and studying about the methods of visual communication fit for the web;웹은 짧은 기간 내에 출판 매체로 자리를 잡았고, 우리에게 새로운 커뮤니케이션의 기회를 제공하고 있다. 하지만 정보의 구조에 관심을 갖고 있던 웹의 초기 개발자들은 네트워크 사용자를 위한 문서구성의 논리성에만 치중했던 결과 정보전달의 시각적 측면을 도외시 했기 떄문에 웹은 커뮤니케이션 도구로서 많은 한계점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구는 전통적인 인쇄매체에서의 타이포그래피 활용의 장단점을 웹환경과도 연결시켜 적용하여 사이트의 성격에 맞는 가독성과 심미성을 최대 활용할 수 있는 방법들을 사례들을 중심으로 분석하고 연구하고자 한다. 이에 타이포그래피의 기본 원리들에 대해 알아보고, 기존의 인쇄매체와 웹환경과의 차이점을 분석하여, 각 매체별 특성에 대해 알아보고, 달라진 웹환경에 적용될 수 있는 타이포그래피의 구성원리들에 대해 연구할 예정이다. 타이포그래피의 구성원리 중 글자폰트, 사이즈, 글줄의 길이, 행간, 그리드, 여백 등의 요소를 중심으로 웹사이트에서의 적용사례들을 나열해보았고, 이러한 기준들을 가지고 포털사이트와 기업홍보 사이트, 그리고 일간지 사이트를 중점적으로 분석 하고자 한다. 이러한 분석들을 통해, 전통적인 타이포그래피의 원리들이 웹환경에서도 중요하게 다뤄져야할 디자인 요소라는 점을 알게 되었고, 각 서비스 사이트의 특성들을 고려하여 선택과 집중을 통해 적용해나가는 것이 중요할 것이다.
