六堂 崔南善의 韓國史 認識에 대한 硏究

Abstract

본연구는 일제하에서 한국의 지성을 대표하며 한국인들의 한국사 인식에 가장 큰 영향을 미친 최남선의 한국사 인식을 살폈다. 계몽활동과 조선정신에 입각한 최남선의 문화운동은 민족의 개화와 주체성 확립이라는 긍정적인 면과 정치적 독립을 도외시한 소극적인 민족향상과 보존운동이라는 부정적인 측면도 함께 지녔다. 따라서 그의 문화운동에 대한 평가도 시각에 따라 상반된 견해가 있어 왔다. 최남선의 조선정신 사상은 단군으로 대표되는 우리 원시신앙인 「□」사상이 동방문화와 인류문화의 근간을 이룬다는 것으로 민족 주체성 고양의 자존의식이었다. 1931년에 간행된 최남선의 『朝鮮歷史』는 1906년 현재의 『東國史略』부터 시작된 새로운 근대적인 한국사 서술을 小成한 것이었다. 『朝鮮歷史』는 한국의 고유성과 주체의식 그리고 우수한 전통문화를 강조하여 식민주의 사학과 일제의 同和主義에 맞섰다. 최남선의 한국사 인식은 한민족의 열등성에 기초한 일제의 동화주의에 대항한 것으로 민족주체성과 자존의식의 확립을 위한 조선정신을 근간으로 하여 민족의 각성을 촉구하는 문화적 계몽운동가로서의 역사의식을 나타낸 것이라 볼 수 있다. 그러므로 최남선의 문화운동과 사학이 비록 문화운동의 차원에 머물렀다 해도 일제하라는 시대적 상황에서 그 의미가 가지는 중요성이 매우 크므로 긍정적으로 평가되어야 한다.;In this study, the recognition of Korean history of Choi, Nam Sun which represented the intellect of Korea and had influence on the recognition of Korean history of Koreans most largely was examined. Choi, Nam Sun discovered the Chosun spirit by connecting Tangun mythology and our primitive faith, as he thought that our race lost the life power by losing the spirit of our own. Chosun spirit appeared as Tangun worship and the unfolding of Bak thought which is Korean primitive faith, and it became the basis of his recognition of Korean history. Thus, Chosun spirit was the uplift of self-respect spirit of race. However, we cannot help being pessimistic about the unfolding of Korean history after the Coryeo era when the primitive faith was shrunk, due to the recognition of Korean history based on Chosun spirit and the introduction of foreign faith which are Buddhism and confucianism, and this was linked to the negative recognition about our racial characteristics. Chosun history in 1931 uplifted - this history understanding as the synthetic recognition more diversely than former times by introducing various events and cultures which came to the fore each period on the basis of the stream of political history in detail. Kosatong in 1943 showed the wide and diverse knowledge and understanding about Korean history by reinforcing the cultural and social aspects to the existing Chosun history largely centering around the foreign relation. As above, the description of history of Choi, Nam Sun gave much help to the understanding of poor Korean history as the understanding of cultural history on the basis of Chosun spirit. Though showing the pessimistic recognition about the unfolding of korean history after Coryeo period failed to make us confirm the capacity of race, much leading meritorious deed accumulated for the establishment of the national spirit and the identity of national culture in the period situation under the Japanese imperialistic rule must be evaluated affirmatively.
