염색과 퀼트를 이용한 조형성연구

Abstract

현대미술은 조형개념이 다변화됨에 따라 새로운 재료와 기법으로 작가의 내면적 자아표현의 길을 자유롭게 추구하는 경향을 나타내고 있다. 즉, 섬유예술의 한 분야인 염색과 퀼트 그리고 미술의상도 조형예술의 특성을 소유하고 있으며, 연구범위와 방법이 확대되어 조형개념의 새로운 면모를 개척해 나가고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 현대조형예술의 한 분야인 염색과 퀼트를 이용하여 작품을 제작하였고, 표현기법으로는 움직임을 연상케하는 그라데이션(Gradation:점이)과 선의 율동, 면 분할, 색채의 대비 효과를 이용하였다. 그리고 부조적 느낌의 조형표현을 강조하기 위하여 퀼트기법을 도입하여 질감을 표현하였다. 또한 현대에 와서 의상을 조형예술 표현의 매채로 인식하려는 경향에 착안하여, 수공예적 기법으로서의 염색과 퀼트가 가지는 조형적 특성과 예술성을 의상에 도입한 염색과 의상의 접목이라는 화면구성을 통하여 2차원적인 공간에서 벗어나 3차원적인 입체적 섬유공간을 구성하는 것에 중점을 두었다. 본연구의 이론적 배경으로서, 첫번째장에서는 섬유예술의 개념과 그 형성과정에 대하여 살펴보고, 두번째장에서는 섬유예술의 표현기법중 본 연구에서 주로 사용된 염색, 퀼트, 미술의상에 대하여 알아보았다. 마지막장에서는 조형표현에 있어서의 추상행위와 작품제작에 이용된 선, 면, 색채등의 순수조형요소가 갖는 의미에 대하여 정리하였다. 작품제작과정에 있어서는, 우선 T자모양의 패턴위에 표현하고자 하는 추상적 아이디어를 자유롭게 스켓치한 후, 그라데이션 효과를 고려하며 페인팅하였다. 잘라진 조각들을 이용하여 면구성을하고, 이들의 천조각들을 부조적인 느낌을 강조해가며 재봉틀로 서로 연결하여 의상을 제작하였다. 작품은 염색과 퀼트를 응용한 미술의상작품 7점과 조형작품 2점이며, 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결론을 서술하면 다음과 같다. 본 연구는 기존의 염색과 퀼트라는 표현기법을 응용하여 미술의상이라는 섬유예술의 새로운 형식에로의 모색을 꾀함과 동시에 이에 따른 미술의상에 있어서 염색의 활용가능성을 제시하였고, 그동안 염색분야에서 부분적으로 이용되었던 그라데이션(Gradation:점이)효과를 적극적으로 미술의상에 응용함으로써, 그 표현성의 무한한 잠재력을 재확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 본 연구는 수공예적인 방법으로 제작되므로 작업시 작가의 감정에 따라 자유롭게 형상을 달리할 수 있다는 유동성이 있어 무한한 예술적 직감으로 조형표현을 할 수 있었다. 결국, 본 연구는 염색을 주로한 퀼트기법을 이용하여 표현된 미술의상에의 접근을 시도한 것이며, 현대미술의상은 염색과 퀼트라는 기존의 표현기법을 응용하여 더욱 더 다양하게 발전할 수 있음을 확신하면서, 앞으로 많은 연구와 개발을 통하여 새로운 미술의상작품들이 제작되기를 바란다.;Modern Art shows the tendency which artist pursues one's internal self-expression, the way in which new materials and techniques are used in accordance with diversification of formative concept. Dyeing and quilting and ART TO WEAR are considered forms of fiber art. They have the charaterstics of formative art. The expression of research scope and method, they are being developed into a new aspect of formative concept. In this study, it created a piece of work by the use of dyeing and quilting which a sort of formative art. As for the expression technique, GRADATION(that suggests motion),the rhythem of line, the division of side, and the contrast of color were used. The quilt techinique was employed to emphasize the embossing feeling of formative expression. Additionally, come to think, clothing considered as a ways of formative art expression, now a days we emphasize the fact that making up 3rd space from 2nd space, with the join of dyeing and clothing, used vision-structure which concentrated on the clothing, with the characters and Art-Mode as hand-made technique. As for the theoretical background, in the first chapter, the concept of Fiber Art and mottle process were analyzed. In the second chapter, among the expression techniques for Fiber Art(Dyeing, Quilt, Art to Wear) used specially in this research were studied. Finally, the meaning of pure formative factor which includes line, side and color used for the work, and abstract conducts for the formative expression. As for the production process of the works in this particulor study, it first started as an abstract idea a free hand sketch was prepared on the pattern of a T-model and then painted them under the consideration of gradation effect. Next, the side organization was made by the use of clothing materials and sewing them together by use of a sewing machine emphasizing the sculptured feeling of each piece of fabric. All together, 7 works of ART TO WEAR applied dyeing and clothing, 2 works of formative field were created, What follow is the result of this study. This study applied the expression technique of exsisting dyeing and quilting to ART TO WEAR which is a new attempt to a new form. At the same time the study suggests the practical possibility of dyeing. Gradation effect that has been used for dyeing portion was also applied to ART TO WEAR. Thus it reconfirmed the unlimited potential of creative expression. This study also showed that when the artist made the ART TO WEAR by hand was able to express emotions at random, the artist has the flexibility to illustrat her immediate perception for formative expression. After all this study, which shows the trial of access of Art to Wear, expressed with the quilt technique mainly and we can conform that modern ART TO WEAR could be developed more diversely by the application of nomal expression technique of dyeing and quilting and it is desired that new ART TO WEAR works would be created through further in depth reserch and development.
