환경문제의 시각적 표현방법

Abstract

"태초에 하나님이 천지를 창조하시니라. 하나님이 그 지으신 모든 것을 보시니 보시기에 심히 좋았더라."(창세기 1) 태고에 인간이 직면한 환경은 어떤 모습이었을까? 결코 오늘날의 환경과는 달랐을 것이다. 그때의 모든 자연환경은 인간을 위해 존재했었다. 인간도 창조물을 가꾸며 보전해야 하는 주권과 그 의무를 수행할 권리를 가지고 함께 살아가는 상호의존(Interdependence)관계였다. 이후로 인류의 역사는 생명유지를 위한 끊임없는 투쟁의 연속이었고 그 결과 산업화와 공업화를 초래하였다. 이러한 인위적인 힘은 환경이 인간에게 줄 수 있는 혜택을 막았을 뿐만 아니라 환경을 훼손시키는 결과를 가져왔다. 지금의 환경은 더이상 인간의 협조자가 아니다. 그러면 언제까지 인간은 스스로가 조성한 문화의 부작용을 감수해야 할 것인가? 끝없는 우주에서 지구는 거의 주목할 만한 가치가 없는 극히 미비한 존재이지만 그냥 지나쳐 버릴 수 없는 점이 있다. 그것은 인류의 생명을 존속시키는 유일한 장소이기 때문이다. 그러기에 인간은 태고의 질서를 회복해야 할 책임를 안고 있다. 우리와 우리 후손들의 미래를 위해서…… 지금까지 지구에 대한 많은 연구가 활발히 진행되어 왔다. 특히 '지구 환경'에 대한 관심은 인류의 존속 만큼이나 중요한 문제로 제기되고 있다. 본 연구는 지구 환경의 중요성과 심각성을 종교적 환경 보전의 필요성에 입각하여 다루었다. 본 연구의 구성은 주제의 배경으로 첫째, 본인의 삶에 구축되어 있는 인생관, 종교관을 고찰하여 본 연구가 있기까지의 과정을 살피고, 둘째, 인간과 지구 환경과의 필연적 관계와 책임에 대해서 알아보고, 셋째, 일러스트레이터로서 사회참여에 따른 역할과 의무에 대해서 다루었다. 다음으로 작품의 표현이된 시각적 사고(visual thinking)와 개인적 느낌을 바탕으로 작업한 20세기초 야수파(Fauvism)의 회화양식을 소개하고자 한다. 마지막으로, 본인의 작품관과 작품분석을 밀도있게 알아보기로 하겠다. 이 연구는 일러스트레이션의 기본적인 조건인 드로잉을 통하여 본인의 제작의도와 심리상태를 시각언어화하려 하였다. 대상을 상징화시킴으로써 환경문제의 심각성을 증폭시키고, 단색으로 처리된 강렬한 텃치, 빛과 공간을 함축성 있게 표현함으로써 긴박감과 위기감을 고조하려 하였다. 이 연구를 통하여 미약하나마 인류의 생존을 위협하는 환경문제를 긍정적으로 이해하고 적극적으로 해결하여 다음세대에 대해 보다 안전하고, 보다 풍요로운 환경을 전수하는데 도움이 되었으면 하는 바램이다.;What was the environment like in the beginning of the earth? It probably was very different from the environment that we live in today. Back then the environment existed for humankind. But there also was a relationship of interdependence between man and the environment since man assumed responsibility to preserve the environment. History since then has been endless struggles to preserve his life. The result was industrialization. This man-made force not only prevented the environment from bestowing all its benefits to humans, but also greatly damaged the environment itself. The environment that we see today cannot cooperate with us humans any more. Then how long can we endure the side effects of the culture that we ourselves have created? In the boundless universe, earth might be nothing but an insignificant being. However, there is one thing that we cannot overlook. The earth is the only place that sustains human life. Thus, man must restore the order the existed in the beginning. We must do it for our future and the future of our descendants. There were many studies done about saving the earth. Especially preserving the earth's ecology is being considered as an issue of paramount importance-- one that has immediate relevance to the very existance of humanity. This study focuses on the necessity of environmental conservation on a religious level. The contents of the study are as follows: First, based on the author's view on life and religion, the paper examines the events leading to the writing of this study. Second, the inevitable relationship between man and the environment is dissussed. The third part of this study will discuss the role and the responsibility of an illustrator participating in social issues. The paper then moves on to disscuss visual thinking and the author's personal conception of pictorial styles of the early 20th century Fauvism which form the background of artistic expressions in my works. The rest of the paper deals with the author's view of art and analysis of the works of art. This study was made, so as to make my manufacture intention and psychological state into visual language, through the drawing which is the basic condition of illustration. By symbolizing the subject, I amplified the seriousness of environment problem. And, the intense touch is rising the strain sense and crisis sense, by expressing the light and space suggestively. It is my hope that through this study, I can help better understand and to resolve environmental problems which are threatening the existence of human life and help hand down a safer, rich environment to the next generation.
