선과 형에 의한 추상적 표현에 관한 연구

Abstract

The expressional method in formative activity has been changed variously, and, especially, getting in the twentieth century, abstract art has become to establish an original formative world accompanied by the imagination of the inner world of the artist's own. To imagine means a process in which any image is formed in our mind, or any painting is meant by it. That is, the act called 'art' refers to an expressional mode by which we are oriented to carry out our experiences illusionally, or in imagination and senses. In this expression of formative art, dyeing craftwork cannot be an exception from the required confirmity to the changing tread of the times. Nowadays, also dyeing extending its range and method of study, there is an increasing tendency that mroe emphasis is laid not on the functional aspect of craftwork but on the formativity of it. On this, the study has aimed to search problems in the expression and technique of work through a formative exploration on a theme of line and form among the basic elements for formation, and to grope for an original dyeing world by connecting it with the inner mind image of the artist. As for the theoretical background for this purpose, meaning ana charactristic of line and form, definition of abstraction, and geometrical abstraction were studied. And, also, the history and definition of quilting and etching were inquired into through literature. Conclusions from an analysis of the seven artpieces of dyeing craftwork based on the theoretical background can be summarized as follows : First, it is confirmed that line and form, among the most basic elements of formative art, has an important meaning in abstract. Especially, it is thought that they were expressional subjects adequats for the formative elements of the student's. Second, a possibility can be confirmed that etching as a print technique can be applied to batik to the developed into a technique of etching batik as a trial for variation of the modern technique in dyeing craftwork. Third, quilting operation as finishing is seen an expressional method conforming to a new formative world in technique, as an expression emphasing the smooth quality sense of fiber and the relief form escaped from the plane form of dyeing.;조형활동에 있어서 표현방법은 다양하게 변화하여 왔으며 특히 20세기에 들어와 추상미술은 작가 내면세계의 상상력을 동반한 독창적인 조형세계를 구축하게 되었다. 상상한다는 것은 우리의 마음속에서 하나의 이미지를 만들어 낸다는 것이거나 하나의 그림을 의미한다. 즉 예술이라고 하는 행위는 인간의 체험을 환상적으로 즉 상상과 감각 속에서 완성해 보려는 하나의 표현적 형식을 말한다. 이러한 조형예술 표현에 있어서 변화하는 시대적 흐름에 발맞춰 염색공예 또한 예외일 수는 없다. 오늘날 염색도 그 연구범위와 방법이 확대되어 공예의 기능적인면 면보다는 조형에 더 중점을 두게되는 경향이 늘고 있다. 이에 본 연구자는 형성치 기본요소중 선과 형의 조형탐구를 통하여 작품의 표현과 기법상의 문제점을 살피고 작가의 내적인 심상의 이미지와 연결하여 독창적인 염색의 세계를 모색하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 이러한 목적을 위하여 이론적 배경으로 선과 형의 의미 및 특성과 율동, 그리고 추상의 정의와 기하학적 추상에 대해 살피고, 퀼팅과 에칭에 대한 역사와 정의를 문헌을 통해 고찰해 보았다. 이러한 이론적 배경을 바탕으로 염색작품 7점을 제작하여 분석해 본 결론을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 조형예술의 가장 기본이 되는 요소들중 선과 형은 모든 추상미술에 있어서 중요한 의미를 지니고 있음을 확인할 수 있었고, 특히 본 연구자의 형성요소로서 적절한 표현소재였다고 생각된다. 둘째, 에칭염법은 염색공예의 현대기법을 다양화 하기 위한 하나의 시도로서 판화의 일종인 에칭을 납염에 적용시켜 에칭납염법으로 발전시킬 수 있다는 하나의 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째, 마무리 과정에서 퀼팅작업은 염색의 평면형태에서 벗어나 부조적 형태와 섬유의 부드러운 질감이 강조되어지는 표현으로 기법에 있어서의 새로운 조형세계에 부합되는 표현방법이었다고 생각한다.
