神學大學生들의 讀書實態와 圖書館의 役割에 관한 考察

Abstract

本考는 우리나라 神學大學生들의 讀書 實態와 그들에 대한 圖書館의 役割을 調査·分析하는 것을 그 目的으로 하였다. 硏究에 使用된 주된 道具는 硏究者가 作成한 「神學大學生들의 讀書 實態에 관한 質問紙」였으며, 標集 對象은 全國에서 10個의 神學大學 또는 神學校(서울의 6個 學校와 地方의 4個 學校)에 在學하는 3學年 277名과 4學年 200名으로 總 477名이었다. 本考에서는 다음과 같은 事項들을 調査하여 分析하였다 : A. 讀書態度, B. 讀書量, C. 讀書熊力, D. 讀書環境, E. 圖書選擇과 入手方法, F. 讀書傾向, G. 讀書方法과 指導, H. 讀書와 圖書館. 以上과 같은 事項들로써 神學大學生들의 讀書 實態와 거기에 作用하는 圖書館의 役割을 調査한 結果, 다음과 같은 結論을 얻게 되었다. 神學大學生들은 特別한 計劃을 세우지 않은 채 必要에 따라 아무때나 讀書하는傾向이 많으며, 讀書 時間은 每日 平均 2時間 程度이다. 그들은 주로 原書보다는 飜譯書를 읽으며, 英語 原書를 읽지 못하는 學生이 30%나 되어서 外國語 讀解 能力이 매우 低調한 편이다. 그들은 대체로 집에서 讀書하며, 讀書 活動에 있어서 가장 큰 障碍는 時間의 不足이며, 다음으로 큰 問題는 圖書의 不足과 讀書 習慣이 形成되어 있지 않다는 점이다. 圖書의 選擇에 가장 크게 影響을 끼치는 것은 敎授의 推薦과 新刊 紹介 또는 書評이며, 月 平均 書籍 購入脅는 2,770원 程度이다. 그들의 讀書 傾向은 專攻하는 學科目 爲主의 知識獲得的 讀書에 置重되나, 敎養的 讀書도 꽤 많이 하는 편이다. 그들의 3分의 2 以上이 精讀을 주로 하고 있으며, 讀書 指導를 받지 못한 學生이 過半數이다. 神學大學生들은 80% 以上이 每週 1번 以上 圖書館을 利用하고 있고, 22.6%의 學生들은 每日 利用하고 있으므로, 圖書館의 役割은 매우 重要視되고 있으며, 圖書館의 效率的인 奉仕가 讀書 環境을 造成하는 일에 墓本이 되고 있다. 따라서 圖書館은 學生들의 讀書 活動을 도와주고 指導하는 일에 先導的인 役割을 해야 하며, 그들의 要望 事項에 留意하여 發展的인 改善에 힘써야 한다. 神學大學生들은 더욱 廣範圍하고 計劃的인 讀書를 하도록 鼓舞되어야 하며, 外國語 讀解 能力의 涵養을 위하여 많이 努力해야 한다. 무엇보다도 그들에게 時急한 問題는 讀書 指導이며, 이 일을 위해서는 大學 當局과 圖書館이 制度的으로 補完하는 일이 必要하다. 神學大學 圖書館들은 보다 많은 圖書의 確保가 要望되며, 閱覽室 雰圍氣와 各種 施設을 不斷히 改業해 줌으로써 學生들이 讀書 意慾을 가지고 더욱 많은 讀書를 할 수 있도록 纖細하고도 積極的인 奉仕를 해 줄 것이 要請된다.;The purpose of the present study is to investigate the reading status of theological students in Korea by using a self-made questionaire and to find out the role that the library plays in the students' reading status. The questionaire was distributed to the junior and senior classes of ten theological colleges or seminaries selected at the discretion of the investigator with due consideration of locality(six colleges in Seoul City and four in local provinces). The students who responded to the questionaire were 277 juniors and 200 seniors; 477 in total. By means of the questionaire the following are examined: A. Reading attitude B. Reading volume C. Reading ability D. Reading environment E. Selecting and obtaining of books F. Reading tendency G. Reading method and guidance H. Reading and library As a result of this research and study the investigetor arrived at the following conclusions: Theological students do not have any special or detailed plan of reading and they are very apt to read books only according to their present need. They are reading two hours a day on the average. Theological students are larely reading translated books than orignal books. They generally have poor reading ability in foreign languages. Thirty percent of them cannot read books in English. They are reading mainly at home. The biggest problem in their reading is the lack of time. The next ones are the lack of books and the lack of good reading habits. The most influential factors in selecting books are the recommendations of professors, introductions of new books and book reviews. Their expense for book purchases is approximately 2,770 won per month. The reading tendency of theological students shows that they are inclined to read with emphasis on the acquirement of knowledge. More than two thirds of them read the books by intensive reading method and more than half of them are not guided in reading method. More than 80 percent of the theological students use the library at least once a work. Therefore, the role of the library is considered very important and the effective services of the library play a basic part to create reading environment. Finally, the library should play a leading role in guiding the reading activities of the students and listening to their requests. It should endeavour to develop the library system and to improve the reading environment. Theological students must be encouraged to read wider range of books according to a systematic plan, and it is urgent that they improve their reading ability in foreign languages. The most urgent thing for them is that they be given reading guidance. For this, it is necessary that the college authorities and library staff undertake some complementary changes in education plan. The libraries of theological colleges and seminaries are advised to keep many more books on hand than they have now and they should improve the reading room environment and all library facilities in order that the students may use the libraries more willingly and read books more spontaneously. The librarians are expected to guide students in book selection and reading habits and to help them more positively to use libraries effectively.
