인간의 내면적 표현에 관한 연구

Abstract

All of us are heavily influenced by the external world we live in. We try to search for the meaning of our existence in this external world. Accordingly, the worlds depicted in paintings are the reflections of this external world. The process of painting is a distinctive method of expression that enables on artist to express his inner most feelings as well as his psychic reactions to the external world. We tend to prefer paintings that depict inner emotions of human beings accurately and honestly rather than paintings that illustrate the external appearances accurately and objectively. The former type of paintings is distinguished from the rest by their sincere attempts to depict the inner emotions and self-consciousness of the artists through means of figures, colors, and textures. I believe that the painting, rather than merely copying the external appearances as we see them, should depict graphically the psychic reactions of the artist as he interprets the external world through a prism of his experiences knowledges, and emotions so that the viewers can truly share his interpretations and feelings on life and human beings. That is, the artist must try to express graphically the dynamic emotions that shapes his soul. As expressed so eloquently by Edvard Munch who once said that, "Nature changes according to the subjective interpretation of a person.", I have tried to find out the true essence of human being as well as his original nature in this paper. At the same time, I have carried out a study on famous portrait artists who had drawn inner emotions of people rather than their appearances. By doing so, I have summarized drawing techniques necessary to achieve this effect. An external object can be depicted differently according to the personal characteristics and style of an artist, thereby producing an artwork that is unique and distinctive. In this paper, I have discussed a technique used to depict the facial expressions of human beings that are influenced by their inner emotions based on the previously discussed topics.;인간은 그 자신을 둘러싸고 있는 외부세계의 영향을 받으며 그 속에서 진정한 자신의 의미를 찾고자 한다. 작품 가운데 형성되고 있는 세계는 언제나 그 소재를 통해서 이루어지고 있다. 회화가 하나의 언어이고 표현방법이라고 하면 그것은 화가의 내면에 있는 심상의 표현이며 자신의 외적인 영향에서 얻은 회화의 요소로 상징되며 표현되고 있다. 외형의 정확성이나 대상의 유사성보다는 내면의 감정등을 더욱 솔직하게 나타내려 했던 회화는 표현주의에서 찾게 된다. 그들은 인간 내부의 생명 즉, 자아나 자신의 감정을 강하게 표출하는 특징을 보여주었다. "회화는 보이는대로 정확히 그리는 것이 아니라, 느낀 것을 그려서 감상자에게 감동을 주어야 한다. 즉, 정신속에 살아있는 것을 그려야 한다. 자연은 개인의 주관적 기질에 따라 변형된다."라는 뭉크의 이론대로 본 논문에서는 인간의 본질에 대하여 파악하고 근원에 대한 연구와 동시에 내면표현을 추구하였던 인물화의 대표작가들을 연구하여 봄으로써 본 연구자가 지향하는 인물화 제작에 도움을 얻고자 했다. 회화는 개인적인 특성과 기질에 따라 그 표현 또한 다양하므로 같은 대상이나 사실을 그린다 하더라도 그것을 보고 그리는 방식이 각기 다르기 때문에 실제의 표현은 다양한 형태로 나타난다고 본다. 본 연구자는 이와같은 연구를 토대로 하여 인간의 마음의 상태가 얼굴표정으로 나타나는 형상을 나름대로의 독특한 표현방법으로 모색 하였다.
