자발적 제스트(geste)에 의한 선(線) 표현

Abstract

현대예술의 흐름이 다양한 양상을 띠게된 원인은 바로 예술가들의 의식변화에 두고 있으며 이것은 그동안의 예술가들의 시각이 가시적 세계에 대한 추구의 주력에만 이루어져왔던 것이 주관적인 내적세계로 넘어오게 되었음을 의미한다. 즉 주관주의 사상에 의해 예술표현이 예술가자신 자체의 충동의 결과로 나타나게 됨으로써 다변화된 양상을 띠게 된 것이다. 그리하여 오늘날 어느 하나로 대표될수 있는 예술사조의 부재도 이와같은 결과로 인한 것이라 볼수 있다. 이러한 흐름은 섬유예술에도 영향을 주게 되어 과거 기능주의적인 전통에서 벗어나 작가자신의 순수한 미적 표현에 중점을 두게 됨으로써 더욱 다양한 주제와 표현을 이루게 되었다. 그와같은 일련의 예술전반의 경향에 의해 본 연구자도 내면세계의 표출이라는 문제에 관심을 갖게 되었으며 특히 이러한 표출을 위해 중요한 요소가 되고 있는 우연성에 의한 표현에 연구목적을 두었다. 우연성은 예술가 내부에 존재하는 어떤 무의식적인 힘 또는 잠재 의식속에서 이루어진 표현이기때문에 예술가들이 추구하고자 하는 내적세계 표현에 적합한 요소로 생각되어진다. 그러나 우연성에 의한 표현들을 작가자신이 이미 우연적 표현을 하고자 하는 의지-의도-에 의해 이루어지는 것이기 때문에 그러한 표현에는 통제성이 뒤따르게 된다. 즉 '통제된 우연' 에 의한 표현이라 할수 있다. 통제된 우연성은 과거 우연적 표현을 추구하였던 작가들 스스로 우연적 표현에 의한 한계를 인식하게 되면서 통제된 우연성은 예술가들의 창작행위에 있어 필수적인 요소가 되었다. 이와같은 우연성에 의한 예술창작을 중심으로 한 예술가들의 작업노트나 그당시 예술사조에 대해 논하고 있는 문헌들 속의 이론적 근거에 의하여 본인의 내적세계 표출을 위한 하나의 요소로서 행위를 통한 선 ( 線 ) 표현을 주로 하여 우연적 표현에 중점을 두었다. 작품제작에 있어 아직까지 공예염색에서 많이 사용되어오지 않은 부직포 ( 不織布 ) 와 전사염료 ( 轉寫染料 ) 를 사용하여 행위에 의해 나타난 각기 다른 속도감을 갖는 선들, 그 선들의 집적 ( 集積 ) 에 의해 생긴 면 ( 面 ) 과 그것들의 중첩( 重壘 ) 에 의해 형성된 공간, 여백 ( 餘白 ) 등 이러한 모든 우연적인 요소들은 본 연구자가 통제된 우연성을 표현하는 소재가 되었다. 먼저 부직포가 본 연구자가 의도하는 통제된 우연에 의한 표현성에 합당한가를 알아보기 위하여 염료의 발색과 염착등의 염색성 실험을 하였으며, 실험결과 부직포는 공예염색에서 다루어질수 있는 새로운 재료로서의 가능성을 확인할수 있었다. 작품제작을 통해 본 연구자는 본인의 내면표출을 위한 표현에 있어 우연과 통제된 우연과의 적절한 조화가 앞으로의 연구과제로 나타나게 되었다. 그것은 우연적 표현에 충실하고자 하여도 그러한 표현을 함에 있어 결정을 내리고 형식을 구축하는 것은 바로 자신의 의지에 의한 표현이라는 것을 본 연구자도 인식하게 되면서 표현에 있어 이 두가지의 조화는 필수적임을 느끼게 되었다. 그리하여 먼저 선행되어져야할 것이 의도되어진 노력임을 깨닫게 되었다. 노력의 결과는 한순간에 습득되어 나타나는 것이 아니라 관심분야에 대한 끊임없는 연구로서 이루어진 산물이기 때문에, 이러한 의식적 훈련을 통해 관심분야에 대한 가치있는 재조직을 함으로써 더욱더 자발적인 작품제작에 정진해야 할 것이다.;The main cause for the trend of the modern arts to assume the complex and diversified aspects derives directly from the change of consciousness of the modern artists, which means that the previous standpoint of artists who have concentrated their efforts on the pursuit of the visible world has extended to the subjective inner world. That is to say the present artistic expression, that is expressed as an outcome of the impulse of an artist himself, by the influence of subjectivity, has come to assume diversified aspects. Therefore, the absence of the main trend of arts representing the one of today can be aftributed to such phenomena. Consequently, being influenced by such trend , fiber arts have assumed more diverse subjects and expressions, by shaking itself from the tradition of functionaism in the past, and putting emphasis on the aesthetic expression. In view of general trend of arts as such, the present research worked began to have interest in the expression of the inner world and have a purpose of study in the expression by contingency which is consist of line, non-woven fabric and transfer dye-stuff, that is important for the expression. In my opinion, the contingency is a proper factor for the expression of the inner world that artists are pursuing, because it is made by unconscious powers or subconsciousness existing in the inner world of artist. However, as far as the expression by contingency is made by the will and intention of artist who is trying to make casual expression such expressions can be attented with controls. So to speak, it is n expression by the controlled contingency. The controlled contingency has become an indispensable factor for the creative activity of artist from the time when artists themselves took recognition of the limit of the casual expression. Based on notes of work left by artists who put emphasis on the creation of works of arts by contingency or theories of literatures referring to the trend of arts in those days, the present researcher concentrated all the efforts on the casual expression with priority given to the lineal expression through action as a factor for the expression of the innerworld on the present researcher. In the production of works, non-woven fabric and transfer dye stuff are used, which have not been popular in craft-dyeing until yet, and the lines with feeling of speed different from each, which were shown in the course of production. Planes which were formed by the accumulation of the lines and the space and margin which were shaped by the overlapping of the plants can become materials for the expression of the controlled contingency of the present research. First of all, non-woven fabric was tested for its dyeing character such as color development and attachment in order to check whether it is appropriate for the expressiveness by the controlled contingency that the present researcher intend to find, and the result of the test confirmed that it can used as new materials in the craft-dyeing. Through the production of the works, the present research found that harmony between contingency and the controlled contingency in the expression of the innerword of the of the present research is the subject to be studied in the future. Theresearcher found the harmony of the two factors an indispensable condition from the recognition that when an artist trys to be true to the contingent expression, the will of the artist plays an important role in the decision of the expression and styles. It means that the researcher had understanding of the limitedness of thinking that is inclined to the contingent expression and more balanced expression of contingency and the controlled contingent become a question to be solved. So it is revealed that the first thing preceding all that matters 1 is the intented effores. Generally, efforts produce no tangible result in a short time but a continuous study of the field of intrest could obtain good result. So the valuable restruction of the field of intereset through the deliberate training, will make it possible to approach to the voluntary production of work.
