자연의 추상적 표현 연구

Abstract

Human being who is borne in nature is also a part of it. The impression which nature bestows us has been the source of every art. In the process of accomodating himself to the natural law, the artist has found the beauty in the dispensation of nature and created a new beauty in relation to his inner impression. In this respect, the art is not merely imitating the nature, but through it, searching for the possibility of self- expression. In the formative art, the expression of nature has been variously changed through the ages. The modern abstract art is inquiring into the original formative world by shaping the image of nature which exists in the mind of the artist. The craft dyeing is also expanding its area through the development of new materials and the various expression. In this aspect, the present writer sets the purpose of this research on the investigation of the original formative beauty through uniting the subjective interpretation of nature and the method of expression. As the theoretical foundation of these purposes, The expressional process of art, nature, and the object is examined and the concept and the tendency of the abstract art are investigated in this research through documents. On the basis of these theoretical backgrounds, the process in which the emotion from nature molds into the work of art and of the paper as an expressional material are investigated. Some ten works are created and analysed. Its result is summarized as follows: First, the nature, a perpetual object of expression, has provided the artist with boundless materials, and has been and will be expressed in various ways in accordance with his formative will. Second, the abstract expression is not a representation of a virtual image of nature but a pure form. It puts its essence of creation in the mental world of the artist. Third, the paper as a material has been suitable for the expression of natural image with its simplicity of natural substance and its peculiar quality gained through the unpolluted process of manufacture. Most works of art using paper, however, may lose its original form or shorten its life for the outward factors. Therefore, the research on the management and the preservation of the works had to be carried out at the same time. In these aspects, this research puts its significance not on the completion of works but on its process. It is hoped that this will be the motive for the new creation through continuous researches.;인간은 자연에서 태어난 자연의 일부분으로 자연이 인간에게 주는 감동은 모든 예술의 근원이 되어왔다. 예술가는 자연의 법칙에 순응하며 자연의 섭리 안에서 미를 발견하고 내적감동과 결부시켜 조형적으로 표현하는데 이러한 점에서 예술은 단순히 자연을 모방하는 것이 아니라 자연을 통해 자기표현의 가능성을 찾는 것이다. 조형예술에 있어서 자연의 표현은 시대에 따라 다양하게 변화하여 왔는데, 현대 추상미술은 예술가 자신의 내면에 존재하는 자연의 이미지를 형상화 함으로써 독창적인 조형세계를 추구하고 있다. 공예염색 또한 새로운 재료의 연구개발과 다양한 표현으로 그 영역을 확대해 나가고 있다. 이러한 점에서 본 연구자는 자연에 대한 주관적 해석과 표현방식의 결합으로 독창적인 조형미를 추구하는데 연구의 목적을 두었다. 이러한 목적을 위한 이론적 기반으로 예술과 자연, 대상의 표현과정을 살펴보고 추상미술의 개념과 경향에 대해 문헌을 통해 고찰해 보았다. 이러한 이론적 배경을 근거로 자연에서 느낀 감정이 작품으로 형성되는 과정과 표현재료인 종이에 대해 연구하여 작품 10점을 제작하고 분석해 본 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자연은 끊임없는 표현의 대상으로 무한한 소재를 제공하여 개인의 조형의지에 따라 다양한 방법으로 표현되어 왔고 앞으로도 가능하다고 본다. 둘째, 추상표현은 궁극적으로 자연의 구체적 허상의 표현이 아닌 순수한 형태로써, 그 창조의 근원은 작가의 정신세계에 두고 있다. 세째, 재료로 사용한 종이는 천연재료가 주는 소박함과 순수한 제작공정에 의한 독특한 재질감으로 자연의 이미지를 표현하는데 적절하였다. 그러나 종이를 사용한 대부분의 작품들이 외부적 요인으로 작품의 원형이 파괴될 수도 있고, 수명이 단축될 수도 있다. 때문에 작품의 관리 및 보존에 대한 연구가 병행되어야 할 연구과제라고 생각된다. 이러한 점에서 본 연구는 작품의 완성이라는 결과로써의 의미가 아닌, 작업의 과정을 살펴보는 의미로써, 계속적인 연구로 새로운 창작에 발전의 계기가 되리라 사료된다.
