날염을 이용한 자연대상의 재구성

Abstract

예술가들은 각각 서로다른 조형관을 가지고 흔히들 자연을 표현대상으로 삼아 거기에서 조형요소들을 추출하여 표현의지와 창조력에 의하여 재구성함으로써 표현의 다양성을 보여주고 있다. 이러한 표현활동은 염색공예 분야에서도 활발히 진행되어 새롭고 다양한 조형 예술로서의 가치추구를 위하여 끊임없는 노력이 행해지고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 자연 가운데서 우리 생활과 가장 밀접한 관계를 가지고 있다고 생각되는 나무와 새를 조형의 대상으로 선정하여 날염기법을 통하여 표현함으로써 염색분야에 있어서 생활공간의 장식 또는 생활용품으로서의 기능과 독창적인 조형미의 가능성을 탐구하려는데에 목적을 두고있다. 이러한 목적에 따른 작품 제작을 위한 이론적인 연구로서 자연과 예술의 관계를 이해하기 위해 문헌을 통하여 고찰하였으며 나무의 생태와 조형성에 대하여 연구하여 보았다. 이 연구를 바탕으로 10점의 작품을 제작하여 이를 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 자연은 예술적인 표현대상으로서 무한한 가능성을 내재하고 있기에 연구자는 이 자연을 소재로 이루어진 심상을 형상화하여 창조적 형태로 재구성함에 있어서 표현의 다양성을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 다각적(多角的)인 시점에서 추출된 형태를 조형적으로 재구성함에 있어서 나무와 새는 우리에게 감동을 줄수 있는 적절한 소재였다. 셋째, 현대 미술의 표현기법이 다양화된 것처럼 염색공예에서 주축을 이루었던 초방염에서 탈피하여, 대량생산이 가능한 산업염색의 한 기법인 날염을 활용하여 표현함으로써 새로운 조형성을 추구 할 수 있다고 생각된다. 본 연구를 토대로하여 날염기법은 조형성의 추구뿐만 아니라 우리의 생활과 밀접하고 산업화된 생활용품으로서의 제품개발로 시도해 본다면 좋은 연구가 되리라 사료된다.;The artists often have different points of view about plastic arts and take nature for their of expression in conformity to their point of view. They extract plastic elements from nature and recompose it with their expressive intention and creativity. This is how they can show the expressive diversity. The expressive activity is much in progress in the field of dyeing technology and constant efforts are being made to pursue new and various values of Plastic arts. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the possibility of original plastic beauty in the field of dyeing. For this purpose, I have taken trees and birds for plastic objects, because they are thought to be closely related with out daily life. And I have expressed these objects though the printing techniques. According to the purpose, I have looked into the related literature as theoretical study for the production of works in order to understand the relation between nature and arts. I have also examined the organism and the plastic characters of trees. On the basis of this study, I have produced ten pieces of works and analysed them into the following results. First, nature having an indefinite possibility to become object of artistic expression, the expressive diversify could be seen in recomposing creatively the forms given to the images of nature. Second, trees and birds were appropriate materials to give us deep emotion in the matter of recomposing plastically the forms extracted from various points of view. Third, just as the expressive techniques of modern arts are diversified, we have to cast off the paraffin dyeing, representative of dyeing technology, and make use of the printing, technique of industrial dyeing which enables mass production. By this, we can develop new types of plastic characters. On this basis, I think that the printing techniques can be applicable not only to the pursuit of plastic characters, but to the development of products, especially the living articles industrialized and related to our daily life.
