Abstract

From the beginning of the 20th century, modern arts has developed in various ways emphasizing the establishment of the purity in structure and characteristic creativities. This tendancy of modern arts applies to dye also, and characteristic expression can be made as the artist intends by developing material s and scientific application of agents. The objectives of this research is to choose the subject from the images of works, and by reconstructing them in a space, to study the expression in the characteristic world of structure, As for the theoretical background, the researcher studied arts and expression, expression structure and space, construction of subject, materials, and methods. Ten actual works have been taken into the analysis fer the study, and the result of the study is as follows. 1st, Expression of the creature activity should be reconstructed in a creative way as various ways according to the artist subjective intends not to represence of structure work. 2nd, In reconstruction of the artist intends, it was proper to the deep expression of space by using structure of square, that of reversed triangle and that of vertical overlapping, choosing formation of pattern carved in Wadang. 3rd, It can be appropriated expression to the artist's intends of works as prevention of dying by wax and starch. Thus, the effects vary according to the materials and the methods of works, and because there can be immense possibility of expression in dye by developing materials and methods, the present researcher will make further efforts to make creative and structural works through continuous experiments and works;현대 미술은 20세기로 접어들면서 조형의 순수성 확립과 다양한 표현형태로 전개되어 왔다. 이러한 현대 미술의 경향은 염색에 있어서도 예외는 아니어서 다양한 소재의 개발과 과학적 매체의 응용으로 작가의 제작의도에 따라 개성적인 표현을 나타낼 수 있다. 본 연구자는 전통적인 모티브-와당-에서 작품의 이미지를 창출하여 소재로 선택하고, 공간적으로 재구성함으로써 독창적인 조형세계의 표현에 연구목적을 두었다. 이를 위한 이론적 배경으로 예술과 표현, 형태와 공간에 대해 고찰해 보고, 작품제작을 위한 방법으로 표현소재와 형성, 재료 및 표현기법을 연구함으로써, 실제작품 10점을 제작하는 과정에서 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 창작활동에 있어서의 표현은 대상의 재현이 아닌 작가의 주관적인 조형의지에 따라 다양한 형태로서 창조적으로 재구성되어야 함을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 작가의 의도를 창조적으로 재구성함에 있어 와당에 시문된 문양의 조형성을 소재로 선택하여, 역삼각 구도, 정방형의 중첩된 구성 수직구도를 사용함으로써 깊이 있는 공간감 표현에 적절하였다. 세째, 호료와 왁스를 사용함으로써 각각 다르게 형성되는 형태를 연구자의 제작의도에 따라 적절히 표현할 수 있었다. 이와 같이 염색의 표현 가능성은 재료와 기법의 개발로 다양한 효과를 낼 수 있으므로, 본 연구자는 계속적인 실험과 제작활동으로 창조적이고 조형적인 작품제작에 증진하고자 한다.
