Abstract
현대사회의 다양성과 국제간의 상호의존성이 심화되어감에 따라 국제사회이해의 필요성의 증가와 함께 세계사 교육중 현대사 학습의 중요성이 대두되는 현시점에서, 정치사 중심의 교과내용서술, 현대사교육의 부족 및 동·서양의 불균형적인 안배등의 문제점등이 실제 세계사교육현장에서 표출되고 있으나 이를 위한 개선방안은 제시되고 있지 못하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 교육현장에서의 현대사 학습의 실태를 교과서 분석, 대입문제 분석 및 설문지로 분석하였고 이와 같은 분석에 의한 결과, 현대사 학습부족의 실태와 그 원인등을 밝히고 이러한 점의 개선방안으로 첫째, 우리나라의 세계사 수업은 외국에 비해 교과내용이 과다하고 수업시간수가 부족하기 때문에 현대사 학습이 교육현장에서 실제적으로 다루어지기 위해서는 현행 세계사 수업시간수의 조절이 이루어 져야하고 둘째, 학습현장에서 현대사 학습을 강화하기 위해서는 교사들은 학생들의 현대사에 대한 높은 관심을 충족시켜주고 학생들의 현대사회에 대한 사고능력과 관찰태도를 육성하기 위해서는 세계사 학습의 목표를 현대사 교육의 중시에두어 앞으로의 수업전개는 고대 중세 근대사를 학습시킬때에도 현대사와 연관시켜야겠다. 세째, 우리나라의 교육현실은 대학입시 위주로 진행되고 있기에 대학입시에서 현대사 부분의 출제비율을 높임으로써 현대사 교육을 강화하여야 겠다.;Times going, the mutual interdependence and the diversity of modern society get deepening. As we are a nember of modern societies that aim at the advanced industrial society in the twenty-first century, it is necessary to understand other countries, races and cultures. Accordingly, we are to investigate the world history education that will play a major role in understanding other countries, races and cultures. The purpose of this study are to analyze the actual conditions of our modern history education which is a part of the world history one and to suggest the reform measures of its problems. In order to examine the actual conditions of our modern history education, this study analyzed the numbers of a historical figure, page a period and the culture item written down on the six textbooks and college entrance examination questions given between in 1986 and in 1991. Also, this study used an enquete on the actual conditions for high school students. The obtained results are as follows : 1. The ratios of a historical figure, page a period and culture item concerned in the part of modern history in propotion to the whole one of world history are respectively 11-14%, 19-21% and 7-8%. 2. The ratio of college entrance examination questions related to the part of modern history in propotion to the whole one of world history is 15%. 3. Though high school students are being interested in modern history and have a will to study modern history, the teaching on modern history part is not well being achieved at school. The above results reveals that the part of modern history is not well taught as good as other history parts in school. Accordingly, the measures to improve these problems are to increase the school hours of world history, with a basis on the facts that the school hours of world history in our high school is much smaller than those of other countries and our textbooks have a larger content. With a view to intensifying modern history, we should satisfy the students' strong will to study modern history and teach the ancient history and the medieval history in connection with modern history according to the goal of world history education pointing to the intensification of modern history. Also, the actual conditions of our high school education depending upon the college entrance, we can strengthen the modern history education by increasing the ratio of college entrance examination questions related to the part of modern history in propotion to the whole one of world history.
