Abstract
Nowadays it doesn't seem that a rapid change of modern arts means only that of expressing methods. Accordingly, the dyeing as an industrial art seems getting out of its traditional notion. Therefore, the dyeing is getting out of skilled craft, and changing into another style pursuing aesthetic value with the help of many materials and expressing methods chosen by the artist's sense of beauty. The purpose of this thesis is to pursue a unique world of expression in the dyeing as well as to recognize the beauty of nature that has had a tendency to fail to be noticed, by getting out of the general impression the traditional dyeing has made, with the help of the Batik technique in which 'wax' was used, regardless of continually changing expressing methods or materials. The relations of the nature and the man, and of the nature and forms have been theoretically studied and analyzed. Works were made under such a theoretical background. The following conclusions were obtained. First, the nature has been man's interest, and the artist's inner world has been sketched in her own way from the standpoint of her love for the nature to harmonize with her. Second, in making works, the Batik technique using 'wax' was taken, and by this way, the image of mountains was sketched. As a result, even in dyeing, it was found that it was possible to describe the artist's feeling according to her new view of forms. Third, from the analysis of finished works in the aspect of materials, methods, colors, and planning, etc., the following questions were discovered. 1) The canvas composition by surface division was made pretty well by the Batik technique, but there was a little difficulty in showing lines in detail. 2) In materials, by using cotton cloth, a good dyeing effect was obtained, but help cloth of rough quality or homespun silk cloth should have been used to image the mountains more effectively. 3) In color combination, symbolic colors changed from natural ones were used. By using the same colors or similar colors to natural ones on the canvas gradually, mild effect was tried all over the work. But that gave a little monotonous feeling. 4) In the composition of canvas, many efforts were made to keep stable planning and significant canvas, but it seemed to lack bold planning and dynamic canvas effect. By continuous development of dyeing method and skill, it is hoped that dyeing crafts will confirm their places as formative arts, and that, moreover, this will pave the way to industrialize the dyeing.;現代美術의 급진적 변모는 單純한 表現 樣式의 변혁이 아니라는 데 오늘의 변혁이 갖는 의미가 있지 않을까? 따라서 工藝美術로서의 染色 또한 固有의 傳統的인 觀念에서 벗어나고 있다고 보겠다. 그리하여 과거 機能위주의 染色에서 벗어나 작가의 美意識에 따라 多樣한 素材와 表現양식을 빌어 美的 價値를 추구하는 染色으로 변모, 발전하고 있다. 따라서 本 硏究는 現代에서 자칫 平凡하게 보아 넘기기 쉬운 自然의 아름다움을 인식하고 끊임없이 변해가는 表現技法이나 양식, 材料에 구애됨이 없이 왁스(wax)를 利用한 防染法으로 染色이라는 獨特한 表現 世界를 추구하려는 데 그 目的을 둔다. 이와 같은 目的의 作品制作에 앞서 理論的인 背景으로 自然과 人間 自然과 造形에 대하여 硏究 考察하고 作品을 制作 分析한 결과를 要約하면, 첫째, 人間에게 있어 自然은 끊임없는 觀心의 대상으로 다루어지고 있으며 作家의 造形觀에 따라서 自然과의 조화를 이루려는 自然觀에 입각하여 自然을 表現하고 있으며, 自然의 外觀을 描寫하기 보다는 內面的인 感動을 傳達하고자 獨創的인 자세로 自然을 表現하고 있다. 둘째, 作品 形成에서는 왁스(wax)를 移用한 防染法을 使用하여 自身이 의도한 山의 이미지를 單純化시켜 表現해 보았다. 染色에서도 새로운 造形觀에 의한 감각적 표현이 가능함을 體驗할 수 있었다. 셋째, 制作된 作品을 材料, 技法, 色彩, 構圖등 여러 가지 측면에서 分析하여 본 결과 다음과 같은 問題點을 發見할 수 있었다. 1. 왁스(wax)에 의한 防染法으로 畵面을 처리하므로서 面 分割에 의한 畵面·構成上 그 처리는 明確하게 되었으나 細部的인 線 처리에 있어 왁스(wax)가 주는 까다로움이 있었다. 2. 재료면에서 짜임이 고른 綿을 使用하여 染着 效果는 좋았으나 山의 이미지를 좀 더 효과적으로 나타내기에는 質感이 거칠은 麻織이나 手織 실크를 사용했더라면 효과적이지 않았을까 생각되었다. 3. 配色에 있어서는 실제적으로 自然이 주는 느낌의 色으로부터 變用하여 象徵化된 色을 사용했으며 同色이나 類似色으로 부드러운 느낌을 表現하였더니 단조로운 감이 있었다. 4. 畵面 構成에 있어서는 전체적으로 安靜된 구도와 깊이 있는 화면을 維持하려고 했으나 좀 더 대담한 구도와 力動的인 畵面 效果가 부족한 듯 하다. 앞으로, 染色 技法과 양식의 開發로 造形藝術로서 染色 工藝의 위치를 確固히 하며 나아가 染色의 産業化에 하나의 계기를 마련하는 기점이 되었으면 한다.
