한국 전래동화그림책의 Illustration 표현 연구

Abstract

A human being is greatly influenced by its environment just like all the rest of animals. It is particularly so for an infant. An infant does not have enough information or knowledge to be imaginative by itself. The ability to he imaginative is acquired through various experiences that is goes through after its birth. A picture book can provide an excellent environment for nuturing imagination for younger children who read it, especially through the picture in it. Reading a children's book is one of the most pleasant and long-lasting experiences in one's childhood. People in a some culture share the memory of reading the famous children's hooks of that culture. Children's book that leave the most strong impression on people's mind are often made out of the traditional folktales of that culture. Traditional folktales contain the outlook of the world of the nation that has these tales as a heritage. Nowadays childrens grow in a world that is getting more and more complicated. As a result, it is very easy for them to lose touch with their true emotion. In this situation, traditional folktales can give them wisdom and sense of humor, and furthermore, help them being more imaginative. Picture books based on these tales have the potential to change the lives of those children who read them especially if they are deeply moved by them. This study is about the presentation of illustration of a picture book based on the folktale of our country. This is to stimulate our children to learn the tradition and look of our nation. We need some theoretical backgrounds for this study. In Chapter Ⅱ, the nature of folktale and the feature of Korean folktales were studied. Then, the effect of picture books on children's emotional development and the characteristics of picture books in the aspect of visual language were investigated. In Chapter Ⅲ, more concretely, for the creative presentation method of illustration, the functions of formative elements such as form, color, and texture were analyzed, and especially the specific characteristics of texture were studied. In Chapter Ⅳ, on the basis of the study in Chapter Ⅲ, the specific characteristics of texture were applied for more creative illustration of `Shim Chong Chun', one of the famous Korean folktale. In conclusion, it is desirable that we develop our children's sentiment through picture hook, and furthermore, for the creative visual presentation of illustration which is the most important composing factor of picture book, the texture has a plentiful possibility as an element of formative art.;모든 생물과 마찬가지로 인간은 환경의 영향을 받는다. 특히 백지의 상태에서 시작하는 어린아이에게 있어 환경은 커다란 영향을 끼친다. 어린이는 태어날 때 부터 풍부한 상상력을 갖고 태어나지는 않으며, 출생후의 직접, 간접의 경험을 통하여 획득하게 된다. 그림책은 어린이에게 경험을 다양하게 하여 주는데 일익(一益)을 담당하는 중요란 매체이다. 그것은 아직 충분히 발달하지 못한 어린이의 상상력을 일러스트레이션을 통하여 보충하고 풍부하게 하여주며, 이야기의 세계를 마음속에 그려나가는 데 도움을 주기때문이다. 그림책이 얼마나 큰 즐거움을 맛 볼 수 있게 해 주는것인지는 어린시절에 그 즐거움을 경험한 사람이면 누구나 별다른 설명을 듣지않아도 알 수 있다. 어렸을 적 즐겨보던 그림동화책의 이름만 들어도 누구나 공통의 체험을 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 그런데, 이 '공통의 체험'을 가질 수 있게 해 주는 것이란 시대마다 새롭게 탄생되는 창작동화는 아닐 것이다. 그것은 적어도 몇세기 혹은 그 이전부터 입에서 입으로 전승되어 온 '전래동화'인 것이다. 전래동화속에는 그 민족의 꿈의 세계와 해석이 있다. 날로 복잡해져만 가는 사회구조, 현대인의 메마른 정서속에서 자라나는 어린이들에게 전래동화의 지혜와 재치, 해학과 풍자의 멋을 일깨워 주어 그들의 상상의 나래를 마음껏 펼칠 수 있게 하여 준다면 더 없이 바람직한 일이라 하겠다. 우리민족의 전통과 의식이 바탕이 되어있는 재미있는 이야기를 재미있는 그림과 함께 어린이들로 하여금 만나게 하여 이 만남의 체험이 감동적일 때에 그들의 삶에는 큰 변화가 있게 될 것이다. 본 연구는 미래의 주인공인 어린이들에게 우리민족의 근원을 일깨워 주기 위해 우리의 정서를 담고있는 전래동화를 소재로 한 그림책을 위한 일러스트레이션의 표현을 연구 해 보고자 하였다. 이것을 위한 이론적인 배경으로는 우선, Ⅱ장에서, 전래동화가 갖는 전통적 가치와 한국전래동화의 성격을 알아보고, 그림책이 특히 호소력을 발휘할 수 있는 아동기(兒童期) 어린이들의 성장발달과 그림책이 그들의 정서발달에 끼치는 영향 및 더 나아가 그림책이 갖는 시각언어적(視覺言語的) 측면의 특성에 대하여 살펴보았다. Ⅲ장에서는, 좀 더 구체적으로, 일러스트레이션의 보다 창의적인 시각적 표현을 연구하기위한 방법으로, 일러스트레이션의 개념과 조형요소인 형태(form), 색채(color), 텍스츄어(texture)의 속성을 파악하고, 특별히 텍스츄어의 속성을 중심으로 연구하였다. Ⅳ장에서는, 한국전래동화 『심청전』을 소재로 하여 그림책 일러스트레이션 8점을 제작하였다. 여기에서는 Ⅲ장의 연구를 토대로 텍스츄어의 속성을 활용한 일러스트레이션의 시각적표현을 연구하는데에 주력하였다. 이러한 결과로, 현대의 어린이들에게 있어 그림책을 통한 정서발달의 함향은 지극히 바람직하며 아울러, 그림책의 주요구성인자인 일러스트레이션의 보다 창의적인 시각적 표현연출에 있어서 텍스츄어는 보다 풍부한 가능성을 지닌 조형요소라는 인식을 갖게 되었다.
