성인 피아노 교육에 대한 실태조사

Abstract

This study is attempted to analyzes the trends of adults piano study to grope for effective and desirable direction as a part of contemporary adult music education. A survey for this study has taken the subject of 150 adults piano learners in 4 private music institutes located in Chongno-gu, and 3 music institutes in Kangnam-gu, in Seoul. The contents of the survey includes 33 relevant questions for examining the subject's general musical background, motive of learning, purpose and goals of piano study, the contents, the methods, problems of piano study, influence after learning, and desirable qualities of the teacher, and the goals adult piano education should pursue. The collected data are treated by general frequency analysis. As the result of the questionnaires, learners' musical background shows that their age is mostly 20's, highly educated, and many of them have their professions. Among them, many experienced learning to play the piano in the past, and own instrument. As for the motive of their study, they learned because they wanted and chose a piano school which was the nearest to their job site. According to the survey, many adults answered they study piano for their leisure and special skills, developing their musical ability and better life. And they said they would keep learning to play the piano if the condition permits. Adult learners take lessons twice o three times a day, and they practice everyday in their busy life. They are satisfied with their learning method overall, and it is technique that they want to be instructed more. The kinds and levels of the text they play with differ, and most of them use Beyer most. However, It is Jazz they want to learn in the future. As study piano, most adults feel their technique is not very good compared to their musical understanding. Also, their problem in learning to play the piano is insufficient time, and problem in their lesson is insufficient lesson time. Most of them become more interested in music after learning to play the piano and it proves positive results of piano education. Teacher's quality adult learners require is not a friend-like teacher, but the one who can elevate their sense and skills of the piano, and also the teacher who can help them have interest and pleasure in learning the piano. About the things adult piano education should pursue, adult learners point out that basic text should be differentiated from the one for children. Also, to satisfy various musical desires of adults, there should be differentiated teaching methods, not uniformed ones, and they also suggest that there should be weekend and early morning classes for businessmen and businesswomen. Teachers for adult learners should teach them differently from children, and need to have delicate care about them.;이 논문은 성인을 대상으로 음악학원에서 이루어지고 있는 성인 피아노 교육에 대한 실태를 조사하기 위하여 성인 학습자들의 전반적인 의견을 조사 분석한 것으로 보다 효과적이고 바람직한 성인 피아노 교육의 방향을 모색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이 논문은 설문을 통한 조사연구로서 서울시 종로구에 위치한 성인 전문 음악학원 4곳과 강남구에 위치한 성인 전문 음악학원 3곳에서 피아노 교육을 받는 20세 이상의 성인 수강생 150명을 연구 대상으로 하였다. 설문내용은 교수법의 기초가 되는 내용들로 8개의 항목으로 구성하였다. 그 내용은 대상자의 일반적인 배경, 학습의 동기, 피아노를 배우는 목적 및 목표, 학습의 내용, 학습의 방법, 학습의 문제점, 학습 후 영향, 그리고 앞으로 성인 피아노 교육이 지향해야 할 점으로 모두 33개의 관련 문항으로 구성하였다. 설문한 자료는 일반적인 빈도분석으로 처리하였다. 설문지의 분석결과, 우선 학습자들의 일반적인 배경으로 그들의 연령은 20대가 가장 많았고, 학력 수준은 비교적 높았으며, 대부분의 학습자들이 직업을 갖고 있었다. 이들중 다수는 과거에 피아노를 배운 경험이 있었으며 악기를 소유하고 있었다. 그리고 이들이 피아노를 배우게 된 동기는 본인이 배우고 싶어서이며, 학원을 선택한 기준은 직장과 거리가 가까워서 선택한 것으로 조사되었다. 피아노를 배우는 목적에 대해서 많은 성인 학습자들은 여가선용을 위한 취미생활과 특기를 살리기 위해 그리고 자신의 음악적 능력 개발과 보다 나은 삶의 질을 위해서 피아노를 배우는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 그들은 여건이 허락하는 한 계속해서 피아노를 배울 것이라고 응답하였다. 현재 성인 학습자들이 배우고 있는 교재의 종류와 수준은 조사결과 매우 다양하게 나타났으며, 대다수의 성인 학습자들은 기초교재로 바이엘을 가장 많이 사용하였다. 앞으로 배우고 싶은 음악 장르로는 재즈를 배우고 싶다는 응답이 가장 많았다. 그리고 성인 학습자들은 보통 일주일에 2회 내지 3회 정도 레슨을 받고 있으며, 바쁜 일상생활 속에서도 매일 연습하는 것으로 조사되었다. 현재의 학습방법에 대하여 성인 학습자들은 대체적으로 만족하였으며 지금보다 더 지도받기 바라는 부분으로는 테크닉이 가장 많이 조사되었다. 피아노 학습의 문제점으로 대부분의 성인 학습자들은 피아노를 배우는 과정에서 음악적인 이해도에 비해 테크닉이 잘 따라오지 못한다고 느끼고 있으며, 이점을 가장 힘들게 생각하고 있었다. 또한 성인 학습자들이 피아노를 계속 배우는데 문제가 되는 것은 시간부족이며, 레슨에 있어서의 문제점은 레슨시간의 부족으로 분석되었다. 그러나 대부분의 성인학습자들은 피아노를 배운 후 음악에 대한 흥미와 관심이 높아진 것으로나타나 피아노 교육의 긍적적인 결과를 보였다. 성인 학습자들이 요구하는 교사의 자질은 친구나 동료같은 친근한 교사가 아니라 피아노에 대한 감각과 소질을 높여줄 수 있는 교사인 것으로 나타났다. 앞으로 성인 피아노 교육이 지향해야 할 방향에 대해 이들은 기초교재가 어린이용 교재와 구별되어야 한다고 지적하였다. 또한 이들의 다양한 음악적 욕구를 충족시키기 위하여 획일적인 지도방법이 아닌 차별화된 지도방법이 필요하며 많은 직장인들을 위해 주말반이나 새벽반과 같은 레슨 운영이 이루어져야 한다고 제언하였다. 따라서 성인학습자들을 지도하는 교사는 어린이와 다른 방법으로 그들을 지도해야 하며 그들에 대한 세심한 배려가 필요하다.
