오브제를 활용한 상징적 표현연구

Abstract

랭거(Susanne K. Langer)는 회화표현의 목적을 상징에 두고 있으며, 이러한 상징은 인간 표현으로서 감정의 이미지로 보았다. 그리고 이러한 이미지는 회화형식을 통해서 표현되는데, 이때의 감정은 예술가의 삶의 개념, 내면의 정서 등을 포괄하는 생의 구현이어야 한다고 하였다. 즉 상징적 표현은 개인의 감정, 무의식, 상상력 등이 포함되는데 이것은 눈으로 보는 것과 마음의 세계, 사고로 인식하는 세계, 감각적으로 느끼는 세계 등의 다양한 측면을 포괄하여 실재를 파악하려는 인간의 욕구에 의한 것이다. 이때 예술은 그 세계의 상황을 상징적으로 표현하는 것이다. 20세기의 현대 미술은 모든 내용과 표현에 있어서 개방적 입장을 취하고, 작가에게 다양한 표현 방식의 확대와 기회의 변화로 예술과 현실 두 간격을 좁혀주었다. 즉 현대 예술작품은 시각 표현방법의 다양한 화면과 대상 그리고 작가가 어떤 종류의 작업을 할 것인지 작가 스스로 결정하는 것을 허용하였다. 현대 미술의 한 표현방법으로써 오브제(Object)의 사용은 입체파이후 마르셀 뒤샹의 레디 메이드가 등장하면서 표현의 새로운 길을 트기위한 수단으로서 발전하였고 또한 예술 그 자체로 자리를 잡았다. 이러한 관점에서 본인은 적극적인 표현방식으로 오브제를 작품에 도입하여 작업의 다양성을 도모하고 물질로서의 오브제가 상징적 표현을 통하여 다의적 개념으로 전환되는 것을 작업을 통하여 실험하였다. 이에 본인의 작품에서는 그 내용적 의미가 차지하는 중요성이 매우 크다. 그러한 의미는 상징적인 의미를 갖는 형상으로 표현되며, 그러한 형상은 현실 속의 대상에서 따온 것이다. 구체적 형상은 현시세계와 생활 주변에 널려있는 기성품과 폐품, 줄자, 기계 부품등을 활용하여 수공의 오브제와 함께 표현하였다. 본 논문은 본인의 작품제작과 관련된 이론적 배경에 기호가 신호에서 상징으로 되는 과정과 상징의 이해를 돕기 위해 상징의 일반적 의미를 살펴보고, 예술과 상징의 관계를 알아 보았다. 그리고 오브제를 상징적으로 시각표현한 작가들의 사례 관하여 살펴 보았다. 표현 내용으로 오브제들의 조합을 통한 메세지 전달과 상상의 세계로 이끈 대상으로서 오브제의 형상과 표현방법에 있어서 선택된 오브제와 수공의 오브제에 진술하였다. 본 연구는 인간 심리 깊숙히 내재된 그 갈등과 고민의 연속으로서의 삶에 대한 진지한 물음과 본인 자신의 사고를 상징을 통해 가시적인 형태, 즉 오브제로 표현하는데 역점을 두었다. 마지막으로 작품분석을 통해 각 작품의 표현적 성과를 검토해 보고, 이러한 작품제작 연구에 있어 내용과 형식이 일괄된 과정으로 보여지길 바라며, 작품의 객관적 위치를 찾고 앞으로 제작방향 모색의 기초로 삼고자 한다.;Susanne K. Langer's objet to express his paints was symbolization and such symbolization reflected images of several feelings as human expressions. In addition, he said that such images were expressed by various painting forms, and the feelings should be embodiment of the artist's life including the concept of his or her life and the inside emotion. That is, symbolic expressions cover personal feelings, unconsciousness and imagination, which are derived from human desires to understand the reality by covering various aspects such as the visible world, the spiritual world, the recognizable world by thinking and the sensible world by the senses. At this time, the art is to express symbolically the status of the world. The modern arts in the 2OC had taken an open position in the respect of all the contents and expressions, consequently, which had closed a wide gap between the arts and the actuality by providing an opportunity to extend to diverse expressions for artists. In other words, the modern arts had allowed artists to decide for themselves what kind of work they would create among various subjects and canvases of visual expressions. Use of the objet (Object) as an expression of the modern arts had been developed as a means to open a new way and settled down as the art itself, since the Marcel Duchamp's ready-made style appeared after the cubism. In this study, from this point of view, diversity of works was attempted by introducing the objet in them as a means of positive expression and an experiment was performed that the objet as an objet is converted into the polysemous concept through symbolic expressions. For that reason, the meanings of the contents play a very important role in my works. Such meanings are expressed as figures with the symbolic meanings and such figures are derived from many subjects in the real world. Concrete figures were expressed with handiwork objets by applying daily ready-made articles, useless articles, tapelines or machine parts over the real world. This study examined the general meaning, the world of symbolization and the relation between the arts and the symbols, in order to improve understanding of the process symbolized from just signals to the symbols as the theoretical background related to creating my works. And, for expression, examples of symbolic visual expression were described in connection with the objet in the modern arts. In the respect of methodology, this study tried to demonstrate the meaning and improvement of objet in my expressions as factors to stimulate imagination. this study focused on expressing serious questions and my thoughts about the life, a series of conflicts and afflictions which are deeply immanent in the human psychology into visible forms through symbolization. Finally, I carefully examined the expressive result of the production through the examplification and analysis my works. I hope that this production research illustrates regular process of mattle, and have chance of finding the position and diretion of the works.
