과제해결 중심의 듣기 수업 구성 방안

Abstract

One of the purposes of foreign language education is to develop communicative competence. In order to achieve this goal, a detailed and concrete learning plan, providing the classroom with real-life situation, is required for listeners to improve their proficiency. To improve listening skill, it is also needed to make students experience real-life listening in their classroom. In Korean classroom for foreigners, however, students are usually given listening comprehension tasks which are mainly based on non-authentic materials. This thesis aims to present some suggestions for planning listening task for real-life communication as an effective listening instruction. The purpose of this thesis is to suggest that listening task for real-life communication should be based on 'authentic materials' and make learners perform 'authentic activities' which happen in real life. Based on these suggestions, listening tasks that could be used in real Korean classroom are presented for novice, intermediate, and advanced learners. 'Authentic materials 'used in listening tasks are meaningful for learners in that they give the learners opportunities to meet not only cultural background but also situational context of the language used by the native speakers. 'Authentic activities' used in listening tasks are useful because they make learners experience real-life listening. In real communication, listening is not seperated but integrated with other skills such as speaking, reading and writing. To simulate real communicative situation, listening tasks should be planned in the way of integrating four language skills. For this purpose, this thesis suggests that a listening task should be composed of three stages -pre-listening, while-listening, and post-listening stage - and each stage demands learners perform certain tasks using one of the skills. As interests in Korean education are significantly increasing, there are more needs for in-depth studies and researchers, In addition, materials for effective teaching should be developed. In this respect, I hope that this thesis could be applied in developing teaching methods for Korean education.;최근 외국어 교육의 목표가 되고 있는 의사소통 능력을 증진시키기 위해서는 교실 수업에 실생활과 가까운 상황을 제공하여 학생들이 그들의 언어 능력을 증진시킬 수 있는 구체적인 학습 방안이 마련되어야 한다. 원활한 의사소통 능력을 배양하는 데 기본이 되는 듣기 능력을 배양함에 있어서도 학생들이 수업 시간에 실생활에서 발생하는 듣기 활동을 경험할 수 있도록 지도하는 것이 필요하다. 그러나 현재 한국어 교육 현장에서 이루어지는 듣기 지도는 실생활 자료가 아닌 편집된 자료를 내용으로 실생활에서 발생하는 듣기의 방식과는 달리 단지 자료를 듣고 이해했음을 확인하는 정도로 듣기 수업이 이루어지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 한국어 교육 상황에 맞는 효과적인 듣기 지도 방법의 하나로 실제 의사소통을 가능하게 하는 듣기 과제의 구성 방안을 제안하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 본 논문에서는 실제 의사소통을 가능하게 하는 듣기 과제의 구성 방안으로, 듣기 과제의 내용으로는 실생활 자료(authentic material)를 사용하고 듣기 과제의 수행 방식으로는 실생활 활동(authentic activity), 즉, 실생활에서 듣기가 수행되는 방식을 적용해야 할 것을 제안한다. 그리고 제안한 방안을 바탕으로 실제 한국어 교육 현장에서 사용할 수 있는 듣기 수업 구성의 실례를 보이고자 한다. 듣기 과제의 내용으로 사용되는 실생활 교재는 목표어가 바탕으로 하는 문화와 생활 풍습을 제공하여 줄 뿐만 아니라 의사소통 능력을 배양 하고자 하는 학습자에게 원어민이 실제로 사용하는 언어와 상황을 제공해준다는 점에서 큰 의의가 있다. 또한 듣기 과제의 수행 방식에 있어 실제 상황에서 듣기가 수행되는 방식을 적용하는 것은 과제를 수행함으로써 학습자가 실제 의사소통에서 발생하는 듣기 활동을 경험할 수 있다는 점에서 의미가 있다. 즉, 실생활에서 발생하는 듣기는 듣는 활동 자체로 끝나는 것이 아니라 말하기, 읽기, 쓰기의 활동과 연계되어 발생하기 때문에 과제의 수행 방식을 4가지 기능을 통합할 수 있도록 작성하여 학습자가 과제를 수행함으로써 실제 의사소통 상황에서의 듣기 활동을 경험 할 수 있도록 한다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 하나의 듣기 수업을 pre-listening 단계, while-listening 단계, 그리고 post-listening 단계로 구성하여 각 단계마다 일정한 과제를 수행하도록 전체 듣기 수업을 구성 할 것을 제안한다. 현재 외국어로서의 한국어 교육은 대학 부속 언어 교육 기관을 중심으로 활발히 이루어지고 있고 해외에서도 한국어 교육에 대한 관심이 증폭되고 있다. 한국어 교육과 관련된 기관이나 학회 등을 중심으로 연구 활동이 이루어지고는 있으나 관련 서적이나 논문 부족 등, 외국어로서의 한국어 교육에 관한 심도있는 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 한국어 교육과 관련된 문헌 연구와 실험 연구가 활발히 이루어져야 할 뿐만아니라 한국어 교육 현장에서도 한국어의 효과적 인지도를 위해 적절한 교재 개발이 절실히 요구된다. 이러한 상황에서, 본 논문이 효과적인 듣기 과제의 구성 방안을 제안함으로써 한국어 교육의 실질적인 교수 방법 개발에 일조할 수 있기를 바란다.
