패류의 조형미를 응용한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

Nature is the parent body of an artistic body that impresses human beings. We can have aesthetic experience through the natural and modeling beauty of nature, and human beings find nature's orders by continuously doing modeling work within the shape that nature made. Human will to modeling nature has been led to the creation of a fresh and new image. Hereby, this study uses the unique form and material that only shellfish have as a motive of work. The purpose of this study is to develop the range of design by pursing an original modeling world through shellfish as modeling motive and applying the method of cubic material expression based on the creation of original image In form and function. The method and content of this study include an analysis on the characteristics and classification of shellfish through related literature and photos, and the examples of introducing and applying the image of shellfish in modern design. Based on this theoretical background, I made total eight works. The method of expressing the modeling character and material in the process of composing the form of shellfish appropriate skills such as inter lock, fin tuck, padding and drivinging rubber line, considering the decorative aspect of shellfish. Also, the effect of natural and coincidental dyeing of silk shows various colors of shellfish. The following are the results of this study. First, I find that nature has the possibility of expression and development as material of design by re-creating the element of natural materials that can be presented as the motive of clothing design. Second, I realize that all modeling activities that nature applies can be work of art with better aesthetic value than nature itself by re-creating nature into fresh and new one according to the ability, approach and translation method of an artist. Third, I see the wonder an infinite modeling possibility of natural form in observing and studying the shape of shellfish, and it is suitable for the motive of clothing. Fourth, the unique material and modeling character of shellfish are expressed by handcraft skills such as inter lock, fin tuck, padding and driving rubber line, and they are good for presenting the unique character of shellfish. This study re-examines shellfish with a new point of view by various skills' and introduces them to clothing with their practical and decorative factors. It is also intented to develop clothing design with various creation work of nature that has aesthetic value.;자연은 인간에게 감동을 주는 예술적 생명의 모체로서 자연이 주는 자연미와 조형미에서 미적 체험을 할 수 있고 이를 통하여 인간은 자연이 만들어낸 형태 안에서 끊임없이 조형작업을 하며 자연의 질서를 발견할 수 있었다. 이러한 자연에 대한 인간의 조형 의지는 자연 그대로의 모습이 아니라 인간이 가진 창의성과 장식성을 조형성과 결합하여 자연을 재해석· 재창조하여 신선하고 새로운 이미지를 창출하는 데에 이르렀다. 이에 본 연구는 패류의 다양한 조형성에서 패류만이 가지는 독특한 형태와 질감을 발견하여 작품의 모티브로 사용하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 패류의 종류 중에서 형태가 조형적인 모티브를 선택하여 독창적인 조형 세계를 추구하며 형태와 기능에 있어서 자유로울 수 있는 작품 창조에 중점을 두고 입체적인 질감 표현의 방법을 모색하여 의상에 도입함으로서 한 차원 높은 디자인으로 그 영역을 발전시키는데 있다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법은 자연과 조형의 관계를 알아보고 패류의 특성과 분류에 관하여 문헌자료와 사진자료를 살펴서 분석, 연구하여 그 조형적 특성을 파악하고 현대 디자인에 있어서 패류의 이미지를 도입, 활용한 예를 살펴보았다. 이와 같은 이론적 배경을 토대로 하여 총 8점의 실물 작품을 제작하였다. 패류의 형태를 의상에 표현하는 과정에서 패류의 조형성과 질감의 표현 방법으로는 인터로킹, 터 킹, 패딩, 고무줄 박기, 염색 등의 표현기법을 통하여 패류가 가지는 특징을 고려해 표현하였다. 또한 자연 소재인 실크를 염색함으로 얻어질 수 있는 우연성과 자연스러움에서 패류의 다양한 색채를 보여 주었다. 이러한 연구를 통해서 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자연이 가지는 그 자체의 아름다운 자연미와 조형미를 살펴보고 자연이 주는 소재 중 의상디자인의 모티브로서 표현 가능한 요소를 선택하여 재창조함으로써 자연이 디자인의 소재로서 표현·발전 가능성이 내포되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 자연을 응용한 모든 조형 활동은 단순히 외형적 표방에 그치지 않고 자연을 대하는 창작자의 관찰 능력, 접근 방식, 해석 방법에 따라 변형된 새로운 디자인 모티브로 재창조하여 독특한 미적 가치를 지닌 작품이 될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 패류의 모티브로 작품 제작하는데 있어서 작품의 모티브가 지닌 고유의 조형적 특징을 인터로킹, 터 킹, 패딩, 고무줄 박기, 염색 등의 다양하고도 수공예 적인 봉제 기법을 통해 표면의 부조적 재질감과 더불어 패류의 독특한 형태를 표현하기에 적합하였다. 넷째, 소재 사용에 있어서 수직실크가 지닌 특유의 광택과 소재 자체의 질감이 패류의 질감을 표현하는데 효과적이고 또한 염색에 의해 점이 되는 직물을 더욱 입체적이며 3차원적인 공간감을 느끼게 하여 패류의 볼륨감과 양감을 표현하는데 적합하였다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 기법으로 자연미가 흐르는 패류를 새로운 시각으로 재조명하여 실용적이면서도 장식적인 요소를 가미하여 예술성이 결합되게 의상에 도입할 수 있다. 이러한 미적 가치를 지닌 조형적인 자연의 다양한 창조적 활동으로 의상 디자인에 있어서 더욱 확대 발전할 가능성을 보여주고자 하는 것이다.
