도시의 문화적 정체성과 상징적 제고를 위한 보행자 전용 가로에 관한 디자인 연구

Abstract

현재 우리는 도시라는 지역적 한계를 갖게 됨으로써 생기는 다양한 인간 형태의 밀집은 도시환경이 수용할 수 있는 수용한계를 초과하게 되었으며, 이는 기존 질서의 혼란을 가져오며 인간 생활환경의 길을 크게 저하시키게 되었다. 특히, 도시생활환경에 가치를 부여하고 창조적 삶을 제공하는 오픈 스페이스 (open space) 는 인간의 생태와 관련된 도시환경 보존의 측면과 도시민의 여가선용이라는 생활영역의 측면에서의 총괄적인 적응력이 중요하며, 정보의 공급로이고 도시활동의 근원이며 도시 이미지를 형성하는 가로공간과 더불어 존재의 필요가치가 요구된다. 그러나 우리나라의 경우 상업적, 업무적 기능을 갖는 도시 중심지역과 같은 도심지의 오픈 스페이스는 근접성과 사용밀도에 있어 유리한 조건을 가지고 있으나 수적, 규모적 면에서 매우 부족하기 때문에 도심에서 보행자가 휴식을 얻기에 공간이 매우 부족한 실정이다. 또한 전체 면적의 3분의 1이상을 가로가 차지하고 있으며 도시생활의 지배적인 요소인 가로환경에 있어서 보행자 가로와 오픈 스페이스라는 개념의 인식이 매우 부족하며 이러한 인식에서 오는 인간성 부재의 도시구성은 사회적으로 인간소외 현상을 가속시키고 있다. 이러한 시점에서 본 연구는 도시공간 구성의 기본골격이 되는 가로를 주체인 인간의 생활공간으로 인식하여 시각적 만족을 줄 수 있는 휴식공간으로 구성하고, 이 장소화 된 도시환경에서 도시의 문화적 정체성과 상징성이 부여된 보행자 전용가로와 오픈 스페이스를 구성하기로 한다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 디자인 접근 방법으로 문화적 정체성과 상징성 제고를 위한 보행자 전용가로를 위한 디자인 과정을 제시하여 앞서 고찰한 이론적 내용의 구체적인 접근을 시도하였고, 본 연구의 전개에 있어서는 다음과 같은 과정으로 진행하였다. 1. 도시 외부공간으로서의 가로의 개념과 특성 및 도시 환경 이미지의 특성을 이해하고, 도시와 문화 환경에 대해 고찰하였다. 2. 상징적 체계로서의 도시와 문화를 이해하기 위하여 상징미학과 객관적 관점에서의 상징성에 관하여 살펴보고, 도시 환경의 문화적 정체성의 개념과 도시환경과의 연관성을 고찰하였다. 3. 연구의 객관적이고 보편적인 이론의 배경으로 도시체계 내에서의 가로 공간의 특성을 분석하고, 보행자 전용 가로의 객관적인 이론과 사례들을 일반적으로 고찰하였다. 4. 디자인 연구를 위한 기본 계획 및 방법으로 문화적 정체성과 상징성을 적용하기 위한 가로의 구성에 관하여 제시한다. 5. 본 연구의 문제 해결 과정을 위해 공간을 프로그래밍하고 디자인 전 단계를 크게 디자인 리서치단계와 디자인 도출단계로 구분하여 발전시켰다. -디자인 리서치 (research) 단계로 도시 공간에서 가로 공간의 특징과 요소, 형태 등의 개념 언어를 수집한다. -디자인 도출 (extract) 단계로 수집한 패턴 언어에서 대상지와의 연관성과 적용시키고, 대상지에 도시 경관 요소와 문화적 가로의 요소의 적용에 따른 보행자 전용 가로의 계획과 오픈 스페이스를 계획하였다. 6. 디자인 적용단계에 있어서는 지금까지의 과정에 의하여 제시된 정보를 적극적으로 수용하는 새로운 보행자 공간을 도출하였다. 이와 같은 연구 결과, 도시 환경 디자인은 과학적인 지식과 수준 높은 예술적 감각이 결합된 것으로 우리가 살고 있는 현대를 반영하고 미래를 이끌어 가는 새로운 미적 가치로서 존재하게 될 것임에, 도시의 혼돈과 문화적 혼재 속에서 진정한 문화적 정체성과 상징성 제고의 중요성을 재인식 할 수 있었다.;As mankind because active it's mainground for survival depended on the function and the movement of it's surrounding, such as the city . a mordern city is a ground facing chaotic, unstable, changing factors directly involving the system of law. Our task here is to gather all the energy and conquar the complicated. excessive information presented, and to find the most appropriate and rational solution to build up a better city for all mankind. A mordern city is not only a ground for urvival but a living environment on it's own. It consists of living units, known as organic bodies and this body recreates it's own unique environment. To view and the grasp the meaning of a city as a living whole, we should first notify, acknowledge and respect it's self regultion. This newly formed whole should be able to focus on it's environmental regulation other than on it's individual form. It should also pay careful attention to the liviliness, regulating to to the general atmosphere of the city's environment. presented, newly-whole shouo] not only concentrate on it's basic. Physical outlook but pfovide systematic order and rational regulation. Also as a systematic organization in a constructing environment, a non-materialistic stipulation and interest must be shown. Under this constructing environment we must interpret mankind behavior and contemplation as a proceeding moving living body. To acknowledge a pedestrian mall to a living civilization would mean to build up and strengthen the symbolic means of a city. These basic background knowledge mentioned in the introduction should be fully informed. This whole assumption would hopefully change and recreate the city's image to a more systematic and organized environment. At first, to harmonize each factors organivally our aim is to pay more interest in the city's general atmosphere. Mostly on it's physical outlook and thus not misplacing the importance of it's culture and systematic order. Secondly, the new pedestrian mall should have a singificant roll in many different aspects. A roll as a origin of all movements channel and supplier of information, image of a living organic body and as a part of a community's area. Last but not least the new mall should have progress on it's basic physical outlook and to boostup and upgrade the general living standard. In this project, my own design approach mainly focused on the cultural identity and symbolic presentation based on the theory. For a more accurate approach of designing a mall, these few steps were taken. 1. To analize the true defination of a mall, I interpreted the distinctive quality and city's atmospheric image related to the cultural environment. 2. To understand a city's culture as a symbolic system, takes an effort to close eyes on it's symbol. Through an objective view, finding the relation of cultural identity in a city's environment, would also be a step to take. 3. For a more accurate, objective research, a universal background should exist through this. I analized the quality and function of the mall, relating to the system of the city. 4. A basic plan and method for a design research would be related to cultural identity and symbolic terms to the structure and format of the mall. 5. To programme the use of spall and method taken in the research the design program takes two steps ; one-a design rasearch method, two-a design extract method. These two steps are to be comparted and developed. -In a design research method, the mian fasit is to gather the distinetive feature, important factor and form of the defination of language used in the environment. -In a design extract method, we find the connection between the actual space and it's application from the collected pattern language. A city's artistic outlook and cultural factor relates the application process of the project. 6. In the design application process we view all the presented information and positively take in the given knowledge, and applicate it in the program. As the result of the research, a city's environment design involves scientic knowledge and high-standard artistic sense, and reflects the present and upcoming future. It's a important way of presenting true cultural, symbolic identity and as an artistic feature. Beyond that, it reflects a city as a living environment. On it's own my aim and understandings lies on each identity of the individuals and presents a direction a method for increasing. Basic living standards of all mankind.
