난(Orchid)의 형태미를 응용한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

인간은 현대에 들어서면서, 물질적인 풍요와 문화의 향유를 통해 다른 어느 시대보다도 문명화된 사회를 맞이하였으나, 이에 상응하는 대가로 자연의 황폐를 얻게 되었다. 이에 따라, 세계 각국은 더 이상 지구환경을 방치할 수 없다는 인식을 같이하게 되었고, 환경을 보호하자는 움직임이 전세계적으로 일고 있는 것이 현실이다. 이렇게 인간이 그 동안 잊혀졌던 자연의 소중함을 다시 한번 재확인하는 때에 본 연구자는 '자연으로의 회귀' 만이 21세기를 눈앞에 둔 인간과 지구 전체의 진정한 화두(話頭)라고 생각하였다. 자연물 가운데 오랜 시간 인간과 깊은 관계 속에서 사랑 받아온 난(Orchid)은 고상한 정서를 즐기려는 인간과 밀접한 관계를 유지해오고 있으며 다양한 형태와 색채의 아름다움을 지니고 있다. 이처럼 태초의 신비로움과 기품을 지닌 난은 단자엽(單子葉) 식물 중 가장 진화된 식물이며 그 끊임없는 변화와 생명력은 '자연으로의 회귀'를 갈망하던 본 연구자에게 새로운 창작욕구를 자극하게 되었다. 본 연구는 난(Orchid)을 작품의 모티브로 하여 그 조형적 이미지를 형상화하여 독창적인 조형세계를 추구하는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위한 이론적 배경으로는 자연과 조형예술에 대한 개념정리를 하였으며, 자연을 대상으로 한 난의 종류와 특성 및 형태를 문헌과 사진자료, 인터넷 정보 등을 통해 연구하였다. 또한, 현대복식에 도입된 자연의 이미지를 표현한 작품을 수집, 분류, 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 총 8벌의 작품을 제작하였으며, 난의 형태를 재구성하여 디자인에 도입하는 과정에서 표현기법의 영역을 확대시키는데 그 의의를 두고 있다. 작품의 모티브를 형상화하기에 가장 적합한 소재로 염색이 용이한 실크를 중심으로 선택하였으며, 작품의 조형적인 형태를 자유롭게 표현하기 위하여 동선을 사용하였으며, 파이핑 기법의 효과적인 표현을 위하여 신축성이 있는 벨벳을 소재로 사용하였다. 그밖에 인견사, 면사, 오간지 등을 활용하였다. 또한, 이를 효과적으로 표현하기 위해 직조, 크로셰(Crochet), 염색(Hand Made Dying), 파이핑(Piping), 퀼팅(Quilting), 기계자수, 비즈자수, 아트플라워 등의 장식적 기법을 사용하였다. 이러한 연구를 통해 얻는 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인간의 생의 원천인 자연을 연구함으로써 자연은 인간의 조형활동의 가장 근원적인 소재이자 모든 예술활동의 모태임을 알 수 있었다. 그리고, 자연을 작품의 소재로서 어떻게 선택하고 해석하느냐에 따라, 미적 가치가 뛰어난 조형작품이 창출될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 난의 다양한 형태를 연구하면서 자연의 무한한 생명력을 느낄 수 있었으며 그것을 변형, 분석하여 재해석하는 과정에서 난의 조형적, 시각적 특성을 발견하는 동시에 예술의상으로 표현하기에 적합한 모티브임을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 난의 곡선적 형태미를 표현하기 위해 다양한 수공예적인 기법을 사용함으로써 디자인의 효과를 극대화시킬 수 있었다. 넷째, 염색기법을 통한 점이적인 다양한 색채는 난의 화려하면서도 우아한 이미지를 부각시킬 수 있었다. 다섯째, 소재구성에 있어서 다양한 재질과 특성을 가진 소재들을 이용하여 각기 다른 부조적 질감 효과를 얻을 수 있었으며, 다양한 기법을 응용하고 조형적 표현영역을 확대시킴으로써 의상이 조형예술로서 갖는 창조적 능력과 가능성을 향상시킬 수 있었다.;The purpose of this study is to create new moulding world by shaping the image of orchid, to develop the various way of expression and to extend the realm of expression through these work. For this purpose, first the concept of nature and moulding art is pigeonholed. and then the kind, the form and the character of orchid are studied by literature survey, audio-visual data, pictures, internet web site. Moreover, the modern works presenting the image of nature are collected, arranged, and analysed. Eight works are produced based on the above theoretical survey. New technique for representation will be extended in the reconstruction process of orchid's form. This works put emphasis on the characteristics of dress as a moulding arts. Material are selected with the image of each work. rayon yarn, cotton yarn, flexible velvet and so on are used to produce the works. Technique like hand made dyeing, piping, knitting, quilting, crochet and art flower are used. The conclusion are as follows. First, Nature can be used as the material to the moulding activity of human being. The fact that creative and high aesthetic work can be produced by reinterpretation to nature and the selection of material found. Second, New image of orchid can be represented in the design process by transforming the basic form of orchid. Mystery and possibility of nature can be understood in this work. Third, when we express the form of orchid, external shape as well as hidden beauty of orchid and immanent life power was found. furthermore, infinite possibility of expression could be realized. Fourth, through applying various form and extending the formative realm of the presentation to represent the moulding form of orchid, dress as moulding arts can be improved.
