누비를 응용한 의상 디자인 연구

Abstract

현대의 의상은 예술적 차원에서 접근되며, 고도의 과학기술과 정보사회의 발달로 획일화된 현대사회에서 개인의 개성을 표현하는 수단이 되었고, 이러한 현대사회에서 현대인들에게는 사라져 가는 인간성의 회복과 전통문화의 계승을 위해 수공예적인 기법에 대한 기대와 관심이 필요하게 되었다. 개성을 나타내는 것 이전에 우리의 전통문화를 고찰하고 서양의 문화와 재결합해야함이 절실히 요구되어 지고 있다. 누비는 보온성과 내구력이 생기는 소재 특성 때문에 의상에서 뿐만아니라 생활용품 및 소품 등의 실용적 목적으로 이용되기 시작되었으나, 누비가 오늘날에는 예술적 영역으로 확대되어 이용되고 있다. 복식 디자인 분야에서 사용된 누비는 방한의 효과에 누비 모양을 변형시켜 미적인 요소를 가미하거나 입체적 소재 느낌을 나타낼 때 주로 사용되어져 왔다. 이에 본 연구는 누비의 3차원적인 소재표현의 특성을 소재와 기법에 따른 다양한 질감을 표현하고, 나비를 모티브로 하여 나비 날개의 형태가 가지는 율동적 선의 특징과 날개자체의 화려한 색채 조화 및 날개표면의 질감을 조형적으로 분석하여 복식디자인에 응용함으로써 고부가가치의 현대 복식디자인으로 창출해내는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 이론적 배경으로는 누비의 개념과 역사를 문헌 고찰과 사진자료를 통해 알아보았으며, 누비 기법과 특성을 분석하였다. 예술의상과 현대의상에 나타난 누비를 자료수집을 통해 분석하였다. 또한, 나비의 생태학적 특성과 나비 날개가 가지는 형태와 문양과 색을 조형적으로 분석하였고, 이와 관련된 작품들을 표집, 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 총 8점의 실물 작품을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 작품제작은 전통 누비 기법 중에서 다양한 소재 변형을 중심으로 하여 소재의 특징을 살렸으며, 나비의 형태와 문양, 색채 등을 조형적 재구성을 통하여 디자인하였다. 표현 기법으로는 여러 가지 전통 누비 기법, 징검수, 매듭수, 사슬수 등의 동양 자수 기법, 비드 워크, 코바늘 뜨기 기법, 염색 기법 등을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 누비의 개념이 원래는 보온성과 내구력을 가진 실용적인 목적으로 사용되었으나 현대에는 실용적 목적에 장식의 영역에까지 이르는 누비의 가치가 복식디자인에 뚜렷이 증명되어 고급스러운 수공예적 현대 디자인의 복식소재의 표현으로 많은 활용가능성이 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 누비는 직물이 가진 평면성을 해소하고, 새로운 질감과 3차원적인 공간처리로써 복식의 입체적 표면 질감을 다양하고 풍부하게 한다. 이러한 특성을 응용하여 반투명 소재인 오간자를 안감과 겉감으로 하고 담담사를 넣어 누빔으로써 3겹의 직물이 투시되는 공간감에 의한 비치는 날개의 표현이 가능하였다. 셋째, 나비의 날개의 화려한 색채는 오간자와 팰트를 염색함으로써 표현하였으며, 팰트의 다양한 색상으로 보색대비의 조화, 유사색의 조화 및 명도대비를 나타냄과 동시에 팰트 혼합에 의한 풍부한 색채 그라데이션 효과가 가능하였다. 넷째, 나비 날개의 형태와 문양을 응용하여 조형적 형태와 선으로 표현하였는데, 시맥에 의해 구분되는 단위 형태들의 변형, 반복, 확대 등을 통해 누비는 선의 형태가 결정되었다. 뒷날개의 형태적 특성을 의상의 구성선에 도입하여 디자인 함으로써 모티브의 형태적 특성을 강조할 수 있었다. 다섯째, 나비 날개의 재질감의 표현에 있어서 펠트, 오간자, 담담사, 타조털을 혼합하여 누빔으로써, 린분의 포근한 재질감을 느낄 수 있게 하였으며, 날개 끝 부분의 털은 담담사를 사용하여 크로셰 기법으로 표현할 수 있었다. 사틴실크에 비딩하는 기법은 나비의 매끄럽고 화려한 이미지 표현으로 적합하였다. 본 연구는 나비의 재질감의 표현과 누비의 접목으로 현대 복식 디자인의 소재 표현 영역을 확대하고자 하였다. 누비가 가진 특성들이 현대에 와서 소재 표현 기법으로 다양화될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, 누비 기법의 응용을 통한 다양한 표현기법이 사용됨으로써 현대 복식디자인의 소재 개발 연구가 이루어지기를 기대하며, 나비의 날개가 가지고 있는 형태적, 문양적 요소와 색채에 대한 현대 복식 디자인의 독창성과 예술성을 높이기 위한 요소로 지속적인 연구가 이루어지기를 기대한다. 예술 의상 분야에서는 예술적 가치를 지닌 영역으로의 확대와 소재의 고급화를 촉진시키는 계기가 되었으면 한다.;Modem clothing is approached in the level of art, and it becomes the means of expressing individuality in modem society uniformed by the development of information society. In this modem society, modem men need the recovery of humanity and expectations of handcrafted skills for the succession of tradition culture. Prior to expressing individuality, we should examine our traditional culture and combine it with western culture. Quit started to be used for practical purpose such as life items, but it is expanded to the fields of art. Used in dress and its ornaments design, quilt is often applied to the addition of aesthetic factors or cubic material feelings by transforming its warming effect. Hereby, this study has a purpose to create high value added modem dress and its ornaments design by expressing the three-dimensional characteristics of quilt, and applying the color combination and the surface of butterfly wings to dress and its ornaments design. As the theoretical background of this study, the concept and history of quilt is examined through literature and photo materials, and the techniques and characteristics of quilt are also analyzed by the collection of data. Also, the physiological characteristics of a butterfly and the form, color and pattern of butterfly wings are also analyzed, and works related to this are collected and analyzed. Based on this, total 8 works are produced. Production for this study is focused on the various transformations of materials among quilt techniques, and the form, pattern and color of butterfly are designed through modeling restructuring. As an expression technique, extern embroidery techniques such as traditional quilting, crossing, knotting and chaining, beads work, nail knitting and coloring are used. The following are the results of this study. First, the concept of quilt started for practical purposes, but it is expanded to decoration in modem times, and it is confirmed that quilt can be variously applied to handcrafted modem design. Second, quilt removes the plane character of textile and it riches the three-dimensional material of dress and its ornaments. Applying these characteristics, the expression of transparent wings were possible with 3 transparent layers of textile. Third, the spledid color of butterfly wings are expressed by coloring oganza and felt, and the various colors of felt showed rich color gradation. Fourth, the form and pattern of butterfly wings are applied as modeling form and line, and the transformation, repetition and expansion of unit forms determined the form of quilting lines. By designing the characteristics of back wings for the composition line of clothing, the form characteristics of a motif could be emphasized. Fifth, by using felt, oganza, Damdam yarn and ostritch feathers in expressing butterfly wings, the warm material of Linbun is felt, and the tip hair of wings are expressed by croche techniques using Damdam yarn. Beadding in satin silk was appropriate for the expression of the smooth and splendid image of a butterfly. This study is for the expansion of the areas of modem dress and its ornaments materials by applying the materials of a butterfly and quilting. It is confirmed that quilting expressions can be diversified in modem times. Also, I expect studies on materials for modem dress and its ornaments will be developed by using various techniques of quilt, and the form, pattern and color of a butterfly will be used as a factor of elevating the originality of modem dress and its ornaments. I also hope it will promote the expansion of art clothing into artful value area and the high level of materials.
